Glasgow-based production duo Solab emerged in 2005 with their “Shift” EP on Glasgow’s 7th Sign Recordings. The single found favour with people like Laurent Garnier and the Split radio crew (Sims and Finke). Since this release they have been locked in the studio creating a pile of new tracks, the first of which are released on Sula Muse. A constant love affair with Detroit techno, Chicago House and all things electronic helped Graham Wilson and Ross McMillan develop a style rooted in the original techno blueprint but delivered in a modern, original form. They work with analogue and digital keyboards and hardware fed into a modern production environment and they like to add some old school trickery to keep things rough and raw! As well as producing music and running his imprint 7th Sign Recordings, Graham Wilson has been a DJ for a few years now. He plays house and techno in clubs like Glasgow's Sub Club (where he has held two residencies) and at festivals like T in the Park, appearing alongside a variety of top DJs and artists including DJ Bone, Stefan Robbers, Chris Duckenfield, Carl Finlow and Ivan Smagghe. After beavering away on lots of early projects and honing his abundance of skills with guys like Glasgow legend Vince Watson, Ross McMillan took up partnership with Graham in early 2005 to form Solab, at which point they merged studios. Solab are a production unit concentrating on studio output and live performance. April 2008 sees tracks "Detune/Cities" released on Paul Mac's Sula Muse imprint followed by a remix for Franco Cangelli’s Mowar label and a remix for German label Freund der Familie. The lads have finished a second EP for 7th Sign and are set to contribute to a 7th Sign album, both of which are scheduled for release in '08. They are also working on collaborative projects, including one with Sub Club legend Harri (Go!Beat/Paper/Nordic Trax), which should surface during the year.
