  1. Superlate Check In (11:59)
  2. Verniana (7:29)
  3. Minem Monem (7:32)
Review: Barac Nicolae aka Barac hails from Bucharest in Romania and makes utterly effective minimal tech-house for the dancefloor. His latest EP comes courtesy of Pressure Traxx and we can safely say that these are certified head nodders, the lot of them! "Superlate Check In" is stomping, headstrong and full of hypnotic charisma on the A-side, but "Vermiana" is more stepping, broken in its structure and boasting an eerie collection of sounds. Last but not least, "Minem Monem" contains a well-placed break in its beat and makes for the EP's best and most original moment. Tip!

  1. Your Love (feat Beckford)
  2. Your Love (Trus'me Your Love Takes Time remix)
  3. Your Love (Steve O'Sullivan remix)
Review: Active as a record releasing producer for a decade, James 'Burnski' Burnham has credits for a wide variety of labels in his discography, gracing everyone from Boe to Hot Creations. Constant Sound is a new label from the man, set up with Jon Woodall, Burnski's production partner as Constant. Music from Cab Drivers, Kris Wadsworth, A Scott, and Richard Rowell is promised over the coming months but it's a solo record from Burnski that kicks matters off with Your Love. A collaboration with vocalist Beckford, "Your Love" is one of those insistent, driving house cuts with dashes of acid to it and it's complemented by remixes from Prime Numbers man Trus'me and Mosaic boss Steve O'Sullivan who take the cut in markedly different directions. A solid start for Constant Sound!

  3. Michelle (Acid Arab feat Shanbezadeh Ensemble remix) (7:56)
  4. Lazy Boy (6:20)
Review: Ivan Smagghe's Les Disques De La Mort label has thrown up plenty of excellent music for the jobbing selectors in the 12 months since it launched, with all manner of classy talent contributing either original material or remixes. This latest platter introduces a new project from Paranoid London vocalist Mutado Pintado called Sworn Virgins and the two original tracks are augmented by some excellent remixes. Opening cut "Michelle (Dub)" fizzes brilliantly with unpredictable synthetic energy and is the sort of track you unleash deep into the night to send a crowd down the wormhole, whilst "Lazy Boy" is the best Hieroglyphic Being remix Liasions Dangereuses you've never heard. The accompanying remix from Fabrizio Mammarella reigns in some of the madness for a more focused club cut, whilst the superb Acid Arab do their thing to "Michelle", completely rewiring the track's DNA. A superb 12"!

  1. Inhuman (8:21)
  2. Another One Of Those Nights (5:23)
  3. Hot Tea Dog Man (7:21)
Review: Canada's Colin De La Plante aka The Mole has been an important part of electronic dance music since the early noughties. The man has appeared on countless influential during the electro and minimal house periods including Mathew Jonson's Wagon Repair, Germany's Kompakt stable and more recently even on the Ostgut Ton imprint out of Berlin. More recently, however, he's been popping up frequently on Slices Of Life, a contained hub for like-minded club music nutters. "Inhuman" is a stepping house-techno hybrid with supremely odd melodies floating in the background and one hell of a percussion swing. On the B-side, "Another One Of Those Nights" is deeper and more intricate much like the rest of The Mole's output, and "Hot Tea Dog Man" showcases what the dude is best at - minimal melodies, complex beat patters and that right level of insanity. Class.

Review: Romania's Soulsity are back with some of their familiar brand of swinging, utterly stripped tech-house tailor-made for the dancefloor. Mihai aka MP Popescu comes through with "The Body", a dubby grinder with that inimitable swing to its groove, and "Bughi Ughi", a relatively funkier affair featuring a stop-start percussion jiggle and another mountainous bassline for floor-swiping.

  1. Silent Record (14:45)
  2. TUL (14:58)
Review: The arrival of the Unanim label from Piticu added further flavour to Bucharest's thriving minimal scene last year with the hotly tipped producer himself inaugurating the platform in fine style with the Tipic EP. Unanim will evidently be more than just an outlet for Piticu's own productions though, it's also a chance for him to push through some emergent talent from Romania with Herodot first up. Up top "Silent Record" presents a perfectly judged array of trippy background noise and fragmented vocal samples that weave around the rolling bassline and driving percussion. "TUL" is a more restrained counterpart, the groove a touch more subtle suggesting Herodot equally capable of crafting handy DJ tools.

Review: wAFF makes a welcomed return to Hot Creations with three original cuts on his mighty 'Fat Gash EP'.
Playfully named after his best friend, title track 'Fat Gash' is a dancefloor monster with highly infectious vocals, while 'Shabby' has powerful keys, sonic builds and rolling percussions. Over on the flip 'Connected' is a high energy hitter with smooth vocals and a serious party vibe. Since releasing his Rainbows EP' on Hot Creations in 2012 and following with a number of successful releases and remixes, wAFF has become a staple part of the crew playing with the likes of Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and Richy Ahmed all over the world and is now entering into his third year as resident at DC10 for Paradise.

Review: Classy German producer Christian Loffler makes a rare appearance away from his own Ki Records with York, a fine three track transmission for the 20/20 Vision label. If you are familiar with Loffler's Ki output you will know the German has few peers when it comes to productions rich in deepness and emotion and that's fully evident across York. What is also clear is the title track is Loffler's most club-focused production yet, a strong techy edge added to the familiar rolling fluidity and cooing harmonies. The two other tracks veer closer to his Ki releases and will hopefully act as a bridge for the more inquisitive Loffler newcomers to explore a rich discography.

Review: Having been responsible for the last release on The Nothing Special, Craig Richards returns to his more familiar role as label curator and offers a platform for the unheralded Vrsion to truly shine with Vibration. In original form "Vibration" demonstrates the unknown production quantity to be most adept at crafting bassline lead house music that has a certain classic feel to it. Who better to tease out a new angle from the track than The Nothing Special regular Marcus 'Trevino' Kaye? In his hands, "Vibration" is recast as a haunting warehouse techno cut of the highest order.

Review: It's a welcome return to FUSE for one of the London institution's main players in Rich NXT with What's In The Box (Seven reference anyone?) his first full release for the label in almost a year. Deep and dubby is how "Defy" rolls, a track largely defined by its playful keys, fizzing textures, and non-stop crisp groove, whilst the vinyl only "My Love" is a much more stripped back affair with the occasional vocal sample adding colour to a sparse production. On the B-side, "Twang" throws some Chi-town keys into the mixer before deviating into a rubbery sound that no doubt informed the title and "Cannonball" closes out the record with six minutes of minimal house brimming with atmosphere.

Review: 'A Violent Disturbance In A Crowd' EP, Stephan Barnem delivers a rabble rousing three tracker EP of blistering techno. Being heavily championed by Maceo Plex, this is another great release for his great Ellum imprint. Originally born in Brazil, but raised between Berlin and Venice, Stephan Barnem. His latest 3 tracker on Ellum is a powerful beast, featuring the lead track 'Violent Disturbance', a hypnotic techno infused groover of epic proportions. On the flip and Kina, featuring Junyi on vocals get's tougher as we are spirited away in haze of hedonism. Finally 'H' is a dark destroy prodding the analogue underbelly of the EP into submission!

Review: Continuing his rich vein of production form, the one and only Seth Troxler graces us with another solo 12" in the shape of Just Back, the latest release from the Tuskegee label he founded with The Martinez lads. Sporting some distinctive Tron-style artwork, the two track 12" finds Seth channelling the vibe of '90s house and the Paradise Garage. Up top "CZ" is all about the intensity conjured by those thrusting keyboard stabs and marauding groove, with the drums almost sounding like the smack of lips. "Junkyard Tool" is where those stated references become more explicit and is perhaps one of Troxler's best solo productions in some time!

Review: Comeme has already released one of the great records of 2015, Lena Willikens' Phantom Delia. Now it's the turn of label owner Matias Aguayo, who delivers the second installment in the El Rudo Del House series. "Tomada" is a rowdy as a bar room brawl in Tijuana during spring break, its drums smashing and crashing with the ferocity of chairs and tables being flung by tequila-fuelled trustafarians. "69 Ground Floor Left" sees the Comeme boss edge closer to the dance floor with a buzzing bass and wired vocal samples, while the hardcore stabs of "Gato Disco" and the hard percussive stomp of Loca Dance is the most techno-centric track. However, soon enough Aguayo lurches back towards the blind-eyed lurch he started with as "Ese Pompin" proves that he's a producer of considerable range.

Review: Germany's Rawax, aside from its reissue offshoot, has usually released up and coming artists in the house and techno domains but the label are back with something pretty special for the first chapter of their newly crowned Aira series. Ricardo Villalobos, a man who needs no introduction in the minimal techno game and who sells clubs out week in and week out all over the world, drops "Rabbit Over", a familiarly itchy Villalobos groove with intricate melodic patterns and a driving beat structure. On the flip, Oskar Szafraniec's "Vitality" is similarly stripped and jagged around the edges, a monstrous bassline dominating its bottom-end. Another fine slice of Rawax and an impressive evolution from the label!

Review: Bwana aka Nathan Micay has already seen a release on Will Saul's Aus Music and his fluid, freeform house music returns with "Tengo", a melodic progressive house nugget that's both spacey and fit for any dancefloor. The same goes for "Drop Mechanism", an ethereal house stepper, while "Due West" goes in a lot harder with a vicious bundle of Power House drums punching and kicking their way across its chords. Review: Enigmatic duo Alka Rex have slowly been cultivating their form of minimal electronics for almost ten years now, appearing on label like Wolf & Lamb, Brooklyn's Thema and London's Multi Vitamins. This Orleans Bardel EP, with fascinating artwork, is by far their best work to date and their sound isn't too far off the antics of what Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer can get up to. The burps of bass and reverberating clunks of "Bosca Brew" will make you feel as though you're in the closed closet of Chris Cunningham's "Rubber Johnny" video (the quieter periods), while "Koldun Ne Spit" is linear in comparison, but equally haunting. Twisted carnival themes make their way into the title-track which is given a clubber, more functional rework by Melchior Productions, while Kamran Sadeghi remix is as minimal as it gets!

Review: With a discography that dates back two decades, Kyoto's Fumiya Tanaka is one of those producers who needs little in the way of an introduction. UFO Training sees Tanaka add Cabanne & Eric V's Minibar label to his extensive list of label credits and brandishes three productions that will resonate warmly with any minimal lover out there. Tanaka is up there with Riccardo when it comes to getting the optimum trippiness out of the minimal style, with lead track "UFO Test" a fine example of that, whilst "Fade Away" veers off into more abstract territory. Strangely, the B-side "UFO Training (With My Son)" comes across as the one track most DJs will pull for and is a fine 13 minute mind bender.

Review: With just a few releases to their name, LumieresLaNuit (or LLN for fans of brevity) has already carved a niche for itself amongst current Minimal Techno labels, thanks to records from Vadim Svoboda and Roger Gerressen. These two records fully qualified the London-based French label's intent to offer well crafted sounds for the discerning collector and selector - much the same can be said about this third slab from French producer Yakine. Pressed on heavyweight vinyl, the three tracks here see Josselin Guerrache veer through classic Maurizio style dub techno ("Pressure Feed") and billowing ambient techno (""Water Flood") before ending on the wonderfully trippy "Cold Atom".

It's hard to dwell too long on who Anima Mundi is when the quality of the three productions on Stamps is so attention grabbing! The overriding vibe across all three productions is deep and organic, as Mundi lays down a brand of house that is redolent to old school minimalism yet still feels remarkably fresh and subtly alluring. The title cut is the stand out so that's probably why the record is called Stamps!
