Review: We present you 'Mamma Jamma' - an astonishing debut release on Disco Fruit from the Montenegrin up & coming duo 84Bit, inc. hot remixes by : Dr Packer, Hotmood and Tonbe. This release is everything you will ever need for your very special gigs! Fat, funky house driving bassline with powerful & uplifting vocals in the Original Mix, while Hotmood strikes immediately with a groovy & marching bassline - you're gonna love it. Dr Packer plays beautifully with percussions & vocals and manages to leave his recognizable mark on this release. Tonbe brings it home once more with a nice & sexy groove, lovely atmosphere and his identifiable drum hits. This is truly "A Must Have EP" for your vinyl collection.
Review: Adeen Records 004 installment comes from Alexander Robotnik. This all new material ep starts with the techy "I Love My House." A catchy retro feel groove record that's electro as only Mr. Robotnick can do. The next song is called "You Have Time" with a sure-fire crowd pleasing remix from NDATL's own head honcho Kai Alce. The next is "Made In China," and our staffs favorite. While Camille's version of "You Have time" is a dark deep jazzy version in comparison to Kai's more clubby feel, The last track is the original version of the song by Alexander himself. Three original songs and 3 innovative producers, What's there not to love?
Review: The release is a sublime soulful groover from talented US songbird Angel-A, produced by one of the leading players on the Chicago scene, Rahaan. 'True To Myself' carries a warm deep house vibe teased with jazzy undercurrents, elevated by a candid soul-drenched vocal from Angel-A, whose silky tones speak of self love and integrity. Also on the package Karizma amps up the deepness, injecting trippy beat wizardry and hypnotic key washes on a superb dub version.
Review: New pop-up Keeps Going takes us on an intercontinental genre spanning ride through the tempos. Eight nuggets lovingly re-touched, tweaked, tucked and tailored for the floor, shore and record bore by the gentle hand of Any Gram. It's bell ringing! It's hammock swinging! Stick it in your fumando and inhale!
Crispin J Glover - "The Long Goodbye" (Saison Model 1 remix)
Crispin J Glover - "Prospect Place"
Dean Zepherin - "Betty"
Review: No Fuss Records returns with the 2nd release in their vinyl series with another quality 3 tracker. On the 2nd outing we see the likes of veteran producer Crispin J Glover, Dean Zepherin & label owners Saison. A1 is a remix of Crispin's "The Long Goodbye" from Saison. The duo offer their trademark sound of bumpy beats and jazzy riffs. A2 is Crispin's "Prospect Place". A song that travels through the deeper, darker, and disco sides of House. B3 sees the likes of Dean Zepherin's "Betty" classic feel good House Music at its best.
Review: New label alert! Magic Bird coaxes Golden Fleece into giving up some quality original material, plus a road-tested eclectic bomb with this three track EP.
Golden Fleece has been making left of centre dance music for some years now, releasing on labels such as Eskimo, Redux and Mixed Blood Cuts.
The EP leads with the truly epic piano houser Keep Doin'It, with it's house piano-heavy riff complimented perfectly with it's rolling bassline and killer synth line, a real gem. On the flip we settle into the hypnotic chuggy dance floor groover that is Shappelle's Boogie, a super-chunky hypnotic trip that keeps on giving! I Love U2 gifts us with the cheekiest of edits that serves as a reminder that dance music doesn't have to be one dimensional. Top drawer.
Simple Symmetry & Inigo Vontier - "Prayer To The Spiritual"
Facets - "Distant Chants"
Marvin & Guy - "There's No Matter"
Review: After the sold-out first edition of Correcciones, Mexican label Calypso returns with Volume 2 of the series, unveiling four strong contenders for Edit of the Year. Starting things off, Calypso co-label boss Thomass Jackson has his way with a weirdo Polish jazz/fusion/funk track that keeps turning left while continually finding the right direction.
Russian label regulars Simple Symmetry join forces with co-label boss INigo Vontier to deliver a "monster peak-time mantra" that's as perfect for morning rites as it is for nocturnal adventures.
On the B-side, New York's Facets slows down the tempo of an old goa gem - the result has already gotten support from the likes of Intergalactic Gary, Alexis Le Tan and many others.
Volume 2 closes out in the hands of Italian dandys Marvin & Guy, who offer a magnificent take on a forgotten disco classic.
Timeless edits indeed.
Review: No Fuss's 4th release offers some top talent from across the globe. A1 starts with London's The Journey Men who create a deep, driving, moody track with a touch of soul. A2 see's Chicago's Local Options with their trade mark sound of Jackin Deep House. On the flip B1 is Saison's "A Good Thang". A feel good Deep House number with guitar, vocals, live keys, driving beats and bumpy bass. B2 sees the likes of veteran producer Cpen. Chris offers a classy joint that mixes the elements of Jazz, UK Garage & Deep House.
Eddie Matos - "Hypnotized" (Rune Lindbaek & Frisvold remix)
Manwoman - "Love Song"
Review: Funkyjaws alias Manwoman presents underground Chicago deep house sound, a few hints of the luscious jazzy instrumentals with swinging grooves, deep dive into the world of hard-to-find house classics, while Roland Nights bring some lush late night house, combining a warm bassline with clapping rhythms, shuffling beats, wobbly analog keys, and some great bagpipes. On B side Norwegian nu-disco veteran Rune Lindbaek together with Frisvold inaugurates his new remix for legendary Eddie Matos from Mateo & Matos duo. It's uptempo echo and FX laden remix which is kind of dwarfed in that department by the sprawling, tape delay heavy dub revision.
Review: Cruise Music Vinyl Jams is a vinyl format of "Best Of" from Cruise Music. A1 "Superlovin" is one the best selling tracks from the Cruise Music owners duo, Mark Funk & Danny Cruz.B1 "That's The Way" is a beautiful soulful track from Mirko & Meex, pure quality.
Review: The 3rd release in No Fuss's vinyl series offers the likes of Saison, Risk Assessment, & Natasha Kitty Katt. A1 is a deep and dirty number from Saison titled "Till The Day I Die". Jackin' beats and a bumpy bassline complimented by a Juno 60 synth & sampled vocals. A2 is a deeper track from House artist Risk Assessment with sampled vocals and bluesy piano titled "I Don't Understand". B1 "The Riff" is classic Saison at its best. Their jazzy pianos, driving bass and swinging beats never disappoint the dance floor. B2 is Glitterbox resident and rising DJ Natasha Kitty Katt. Katt offers her unique disco touch of cut up samples and filtered drums to create a feel good disco house slammer.
Review: The fourth limited edition missive on Denis Sulta's hyped Sultra Selects Silver Service series (try saying that while drunk) comes from Dan Shake, a producer whose blends of classic grooves and contemporary club nous rarely disappoint. The orange vinyl record's A-side, "Berts Groove", is a rushing slab of rubbery disco-house brilliance - a filter-sporting loop jam that tools up a lesser-known disco cut and is guaranteed to put goofy grins on the faces of all those that hear it. Flipside "Daisy's Dance" continues in a similar vein, with looped disco orchestration and filter trickery employed to create a series of build-and-release moments that are almost overwhelming in their positive intensity. In other words, Shake has served up two more peak-time anthems that will do the business every time they're played.
