Review: Weimar techno collective Giegling are master builders of music stripped of its identitarian context. To this day, few know who sits at the artistic stern besides its controversial founder Konstantin, and we'll happily hazard the educated guess that this new continuous 6xLP is hardly a solo effort. Only worsening the Zeigarnik effect, it's a huge compilation LP of bare-bones, peak-scaling minimal exquisites, and yet it comes in the form of a sole 'Untitled' track. We've only the German translation of the phrase "all's well that ends well" to contend with, and otherwise you're in for a full, mystifyingly empyreal trip above sublime techno cloud cover.

Zero
Review: Rhadoo has long been in a class of his own when it comes to crafting intricately detailed minimal. Despite doing so for decades, he still finds freshness in his particular milieu, as he does again here on Secret Society, teaming up with multi-discipliniary artist and sound wizard Traian Chereches under the RH.CHER moniker. The cerebral 'Gwen' beings with liquid synths and gloopy sounds, dry hits and kicks and vocal swirls that infuse the whole thing with eerie soul. Giegling main man Edward brings a little more low-end heft to his remix, then 'Zero' gets more wobbly and busy with hiccuping sounds, swaggering drum rhythms and icy hi-hats all sure to sound huge at DC10 this summer. Cabanne remixes with a deft touch that keeps the silky minimal flowing going but with more edge.

Mizz Hunni (dub)
Review: The Vessel Recordings Group label is headed up by Ira James who has shown he has great taste when it comes to tapping into global house sounds. This new EP is another standout with Toronto talent Demuir behind the beats. He brings his signature mix of influxes to this one starting with 'Conversing With Angels' which has disco-tinged loops and soulful, feel-good vibes that liven up any party. 'Everynight' has a deep cut and funky groove that is made all the more arresting and emotive with the vocals and smart synth filters, while 'Mizz Hunni' comes as a hefty tech stomper and also as a dub.

Review: Fletcher heads up the Social Currency label but you may also know him from his superb work with Mosaic boss Steve O'Sullivan. It's no wonder then that he calls up his dub techno buddy for the second outing here. They kick off with 'Flutter' which is a minimal dub masterpiece with light and airy synths, yep, fluttering up top above rooted, rolling drums. Fletcher then goes it alone for 'From A Different Place' which is a little more anxious in its loops but still has gorgeous melodies streaming through the mix. 'This Day Has Been Too' is another fine solo cut that explores insular and inward moods with great deftness.

Review: Detroit's Marcellus Pittman is one of house music's most unpredictable characters. He was a key member of the legendary 3 Chairs collective but his solo work is arguably even more essential. Here he delivers a standout track from the long sold-out 'The Eastside' EP on Adeen Records. 'I'm Gonna Be the Everything' captures the essence of Detroit deep house with its sparse, driving drums and a thumping bassline and it is rightly given a whole side here for maximum volume. Flip it over for Adeen's in-house live jazz ensemble, A Band of Brothers, rework with lush vibraphone layers and soothing saxophone melodies.

Review: Eddie Richards' vaults are surely some of the best there can be for tech house heads. The Brit was there on the ground, helping to shape the earliest incarnations of the newly emerging genre back in the 90s and early 00s and few have bettered it since. Proof comes from this reissue of a pair of remastered beauties on new label likethis. 'Destiny' has never before been on wax and is a silky, synth-laced sound with crisp drum funk and then the B-side jam 'The Soul' is a dusty and stripped-back mix of drums, hits, swirling pads and irresistibly loopy grooves.

Review: Back in the mid 2000s, at the height of his minimal-era fame, German-based producer Ricardo Villalobos released a now highly sought-after compilation of his early singles from the late 1990s, Salvador. Rawax has wisely decided to reissue it on wax, stretching the material across a trio of 12" singles. This first volume features a trio of must-have early Villalobos treats: the Playhouse style micro-house-meets-wonky deep house epic 'Lazer@Present' (here renamed 'Lazer Present'); 1998's 'Unflug', where his now infamous obsession with the percussion sounds of his native Chile combines with spacey synths and heavy grooves; and 1999's proto-minimal hypnotism, the superb (and seriously wayward) 'Tempura'.

Review: French DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Olivier Portal sadly passed away in January, aged 65. His best work came as Playin 4 The City and this EP is one of his most sought-after on the Plastik People label. It features two tracks originally released on the 'Backshop' EP on Tropism Records 2002 and one newer sound. Opener 'Minor Track' is a brilliantly aloof deep house cut with swinging, dubby drums and cute chord stabs that do enough to keep you moving. 'Backfire' is just as breezy but a little quicker with some sleek synths and nice claps moving things on with a cosmic edge. 'Backside' rides a nice chunky, tumbling rhythm with more subtle but seductive synth work.

Review: Returning to Purple Print after contributing one to their second V/A, 'Dreaming In A Shell', Zenk links arms with Ted Amber for a new, formative four-track release. 'Nairobi Market' and its corresponding remix by Amber retread an apparent recent jaunt to Kenya, where a fantastical, mercantile mirage is said to have informed on the cyborg textures you hear here. 'Juicy Breakfast' takes and uses the dried viands bought on said market, amounting to a nice morning metal repast of nuts, bolts, and gluons: fatty acids, rivet potpourri, slippery background sound design. 'Memesis' titularly invokes the goddess of divine retribution but reduces her to an edible meme, as restless, posthuman vocalisations are heard to mutter and chirrup between snap-up beats.

Review: US house mainstay Delano Smith has always operated at the dubber, more stripped-back and techno-leaning end of the spectrum. He is a master of crafting perfect loops that could roll for days a never grow dull. The full extent of that skill was laid bare on his wonderful album An Odyssey, which turns 20 in 2025. He has long been close to Sushitech who now reissue it in a very limited run on a special gold slab of wax. The tunes are heady, lo-fi, grainy and gorgeous sounds for warm-ups, zone-outs and plenty of the more discerning and intimate moments in between.

This one features two utterly new and exclusive cuts - the first is 'Bad Situation', a brilliantly loose and soulful deep house sound with well-treated vocals, and the second is 'Some Lovin', a more raw and jacked-up cut but with magnificently elastic bass, funky riffs and old-school vocals. Review: Ludvig Cimbrelius, a multi-alias artist donning other guises Alveol, Eternell, and Rust, reserves the Purl name for his more ambient, dubby techno creations. After a goosebump-inducing debut on the British Columbia-based Silent Season label in 2010 with Deep Ground, Stillpoint marked his first release with them in five years, following a series of records on Dewtone and Post Global. Now again reissued on vinyl ten years later, Stillpoint inflects balmy dub soundscapes and dewey techno sweats, evoking tearful rain shadows and humid canopies. Like a hidden biome where ethereal animals graze and gambol, the ambient sound-world evoked through 'Inre Sken' and 'Melora' is truly something else. Please be aware that this re-press concurs with a tenth anniversary crowdfunded campaign, which, by buying the record through us, you are helping support.

'AAA001A' is a wicked mix of synthetic and organic sound - a heartfelt male vocal and new age flutes, sci-fi melodies and bubbly drums all coalesce into a hypnotic roller, then 'BBB001B' picks up the pace with a smattering of silvery toms and snares over dubby beats. Last of all, 'BBB002B' brings some colour next to trippy and abstract synths and whispered vocals that are stitched into a silky and ever-evolving rhythm. Classy stuff.

Review: An ever-present name in underground house, Alex Celler is back once again on Baby Ford's cult Trelik label. This is his third and maybe best outing yet with 'Twilight Firedancer' being a long and extended dub tech workout with wobbly bass and off-balance drums topped with glowing chords that bring occasional relief to the pressure of the groove. 'Mescaline' is much more busy with abstract pops and squeaks, synth modulations and an urgent, tightly programmed minimal tech groove that you would expect of this label. 'Make It Look Good' is an instant house classic with all the key elements nailed: the drums are deep but driving, while the percussion adds texture and bite. Review: The veteran French producer with over 15 years in the game and over 30 EPs to his credit, returns with a stunning five-track EP that effortlessly bridges generations of club music. Side-A kicks off with 'Mantrax', a sultry slice of tech house that coils around a hypnotic, late-night groove that is futuristic yet dripping with allure. It's followed by 'Freakish', a deep house cut that smolders beneath the surface, exuding a restrained funk and subtle emotion that invites slow-burn dancefloor introspection. Flip the record and the mood deepens. 'Mush Vitamina' finds the producer blurring lines between deep house and trance, crafting a swirling, warm roller that feels like a sunrise set distilled into six minutes. Then comes 'I'm Ready', a loving nod to early 90s rave culture with its punchy drums and retro-futurist synth work. It's not pastiche but reverent, alive and impeccably produced. Finally, 'Wistful' offers a gentle release, a dreamy liquid d&b number that floats on airy pads and clipped breaks, evoking emotional comedowns and nostalgic after-hours memories. This is a record made by someone who's lived through the evolution of these sounds. Old heads will recognise the mastery and care, while new listeners will be drawn in by the timeless quality of the production. It's a love letter to the underground that is intimate, groovy and genre-fluid without losing its dancefloor roots.

This is the second (of three) vinyl EPs based on the 2006 compilation of the Chilean's early works, Salvador, a set that was originally only released on CD. Side A sports Villalobos's 2006 update of his 2000 underground club smash 'Que Belle Epoque', a typically off-kilter and mind-altering fusion of skewed, minimalist techno rhythms, wonky loops, wide-eyed vocal samples, stretched-out breakdowns and pleasing melodic motifs. Over on the reverse you'll find 1998 B-side 'Lugohitz', a genuinely trippy and sub-heavy techno thumper peppered with warehouse-ready rave stabs and aggressive electronics.

Review: Detroit don Norm Talley is as consistent as they come in house music circles. Despite a fine catalogue of cool cuts, 'Cosmic Wave' is his standout and a clear fan favourite. It dropped back in 2010 but has been reissued many times on different labels, this time on his own Upstaris Aslum. It's the very essence of stripped-back and functional house/techno but with an impossibly impactful machine soul, the drums, synth waves and percussion all looping infinitely. But within that endless repetition there is beauty, hypnosis, and catharsis to be found. Sheer class, before you even get into the shimmering, sublimely gliding remix from Luke Hess & Brian Kage and the sparser 'Cosmic Reality', all stop/start funkiness rooted down by massive electronic handclaps.

Laak - "Apophis" (LR House 2 Jazz remix)
Review: Miami-based house upstarts Sole Aspect Records welcome Life Recorder and Laak to take on their eighth EP. The former has been crafting deeply melodic and synth-laced house and techno soundscapes for some time and opens with 'Blues In Flight' which is all jacked-up beats and wispy, astral melodies and pads. Laak offers a more slinky and garage-infused sound on 'Apophis' and layers it up with twinkling modulations. Then comes a Laak Retroflex remix of the opener that reworks it into a deeper and more heads down sound before the Life Recorder House 2 Jazz mix of 'Apophis' explores cosmic jazz keys and shimmering deep house beats.

Review: Interweaved yields the first volume of a new series curated by Brawther and one that underlines its credentials as an outlet for fresh new underground talent. Three producers here - Frederik Anthony, Mahar, and ICTV - were finalists in the 2023 "Minimal" Producer Challenge judged by Cassy, Losoul and Daniel Paul. Anthony opens with 'Interiddim', a lithe broken beat here through with warm chords. Mahar's 'Relaxed' is a silky and minimal dub tech cut and Omar Fayyad's 'A Mutual Thing' offers trippy late-night charm. Finally, ICTV's 'Oracle Night' is also deep and dubby but a little more menacing.

Review: Melchior Productions returns with a new 12" via his own My King Is Light imprint, this time linking up with Mischa Blanos, Romanian-Russian pianist and producer, and one-third of the acclaimed Amorf trio with Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia. 'Push', 'First Eva' and 'Spirit Of 23' hear the two weave detailed programming and crystalline sound design into a subtly shifting strain of minimal house. The EP forecloses the curtain on drama, instead homing in on nuance, textures flitting in and out of various digital shimmers and tactile grits. Melchior's long loved flair for restraint leaves plenty space for Blanos's melodic Midas touch, resultantly affecting a quiet radiance.

Review: Having spent the formative years of his career delivering dusty deep house cuts and hazy techno jams as Samuel, Sam Smith has really hit his stride since donning the Ploy alias at the tail end of the last decade. Here he takes time out from releasing on his own Deaf Test imprint and pal Batu's Timedance outlet to deliver his first outing on Ryan Elliot's Faith Beat imprint. He begins in full-throttle, UKG-influenced mode on 'Flirt' - all warped bass, skippy drums and glassy-eyed musical motifs - before opting for a more bumpin', sample-heavy sound on the sweat-soaked joy of 'Woman (Thank You)'. Over on the flip, Smith charges between the big room, Junior Vasquez-influenced tribal house heaviness of 'Love Song', the shoulder-swinging UKG flex of 'I Need You', and the immersive dark house psychedelia of 'Prayer Hands'.

'Night Long' comes to Rawax as first chronicling of any sort of collaboration between the pair, excepting 'an's 'Synchronicity' release on the latter label from 2022. Together, we hear the motion blurred recollections of barely sensorially remembered nights out, where punning night moves like 'Opti-Mystic' merge with such tenderly processed repeaters as 'The Zone', sure to cause speaker-stack adjacent flow states in club-goers.

He's fairly prolific, too, and never goes too long between 12"s. He's back on his own Unxpozd Entertainment here with its 10th outing and it opens with the irresistible head nodder 'Oceandeep'. 'Nature' has more widescreen atmosphere with smeared chords swirling round the cuddly kicks and 'Reach 4 My Luv' then offering an excuse to daydream and get lost in empty mindfulness. 'Track 190' brings your focus back with some cosmic jazz melodies and a more propulsive groove.

Hello, Acid Dathera (Retake)
Review: The agenda-setting Sushitech has a just as influential sub-label, Pariter, which welcomes the one and only tech house instigator, Terry Francis, for a rare and essential reissue. Francis was there at the birth of original tech house with his killer Wiggle parties and fabric residency and now kicks off what will be a limited series that digs into his archives. These first offerings were originally released on Eukahouse 25 years ago, with opener 'Notice Board' bringing a thumping low end and wiggling bassline that is topped with smooth chord work. 'Hello, Acid Dathera' (unreleased retake version) is a busier sound with a tribal edge and restless drums and bass with acid daubs and crisp hi-hats, making it a full body workout.

Where Were U In 92? (Colter Carson mix)
Review: Three years after launching their collaborative EP series, Eden Burns and Christopher Tunns return to Public Possession with volume four. The headline attraction is clearly ‘Dangerous Drums’, which is presented in a trio of takes. Two of these come from the duo themselves: the TB-303 flecked original mix, which sees them explore the trippy and mind-altering potential of tech-house via wayward electronics, dead-eyed spoken word snippets and undulating synth sounds, and a more hypnotic (and melodically picturesque) ‘Heads Down Dub’. Detroit producer Todd Modes delivers his own interpretation to open side B, delivering a fiendishly percussive interpretation that sits somewhere between tribal house and low-slung dub disco, before Colsten Carsen provides a nostalgic, warehouse ready re-fix of the duo’s 2022 cut ‘Where Were You In ’92?’.

Review: Originally released in 2011 during the second big coming of deep house, Maya Jane Coles' 'Focus Now' EP returns as part of 20/20 Vision's Full Circle 30th Anniversary series. It's been out of print for years and harks back to a very different sound from Coles, who has since spread her sonic wings into many different worlds. This reissue features all three original tracks, starting with 'Focus Now,' a soft focus and bubbly blend of pulsing synths and rubbery drums, 'Little One' which was something of a warehouse classic of its time, and 'Senseless' with Coles' own vocals and slow motion drum churn. Alongside those is 'The High Life', another syrupy and warm blend of smooth drums and aching vocal hooks that, like the rest of the cuts, is freshly remastered.

Review: It has become increasingly difficult to second-guess Alex 'Omar' Smith. Where once we knew what we'd get - hypnotic and high-grade Motor City deep house - in recent years he's successfully expanded his musical palette whilst retaining the core elements of his trademark sound. So, what can we expect from his latest four-tracker? A real mixed bag of goodness, that's what! So while title track 'Come On Claire Reese' wraps crystalline, freestyle-influenced synthesiser melodies and echoing syn-toms around a sequenced disco bassline and metronomic house beats, the cut that follows, 'Packer Beats', is a sleazy, noise-encrusted and heavily effects-laden drum machine workout. Similarly, flip-side opener 'Right Now' builds a down-low house jam around samples from an old blues recording, while 'Yeearrs' is a slow build, filter-heavy DJ tool crafted from wide-eyed and ear-catching samples.

'Insomniac 300' pairs rubbery, juddery drums and loopy synths with watery droplets for a nice heady start. 'Trippy Tits' is an afterparty classic in the mould of early Villalobos and 'Dig Bicks' layers dubby undercurrents with swirling, smudged vocal sounds for more zoned out 5am sessions. Last but not least, 'Where Witches Find Peace' taps into the Melchior school of minimalism with its frictionless drum loops and deft aesthetic touch, all soon to hypnotise.

This time residents Antoine Quesnel and Traumer (tka Antraum) stop by for another minimal sashimi overload, dealing in variously raw, diced and parceled foodstuffs: 'Koisuru' marries stolid, breathy femme vocals and unassuming bass movements below ("you just stare into me... All Night
Review: One half of the legendary Chemical Brothers makes a thunderous return to the dancefloor with 'We Are Nothing' and 'All Night', two tracks that recall the kinetic chaos and forward-pushing spirit that made his name nearly 30 years ago. Tom is known for his no nonsense use of unique sounds and bombastic beats and his first EP since 2013 is no excpetion to that rule. 'We Are Nothing' is a relentless, high-energy trip with no allegiance to genre. It's visceral, loud and gripping track that doesn't ask, but demands attention. 'All Night' takes a different path, launching into a breakbeat-driven frenzy that reminds us of his 90s output. There's an unpredictability to both tracks that's distinctly Rowlands: sharp turns, sudden explosions and the sense that anything can happen next. While his recent years have been devoted to soundtracks, this is a reminder that the dancefloor is still in his DNA.

The great Bluetrain opens with 'Still Shifting', which is a typically smooth and sub-aquatic dub techno sound that's deep but dynamic and marbled with deft hi hats. Fletcher's 'Holy Ghost' is a gorgeously suspenseful dub soundscape, then on the flip Rai Scott gets a little more pronounced with his grooves on 'Inside The Mind Of A Nebula,' which is defined by a nagging sense of unease. Anthony Georges Patrice's' See The Sun' is a zoned out 6 am gem for when the sun begins to peak through the curtains.

Yah
Silver Lines
Review: Cologne's Jonathan Kaspar has a rare talent for making techno feel emotional without sacrificing power. On this latest pair, he brings the same intensity and balance you'd expect from someone fully in command of his sound i a producer with roots in Germany's fertile minimal scene, but an ear turned towards something more transcendent. 'Yah' is an absolute hypnosis engine, with spectral sirens gliding above steadily rolling percussion. The track breaks and bends but never falls apart i there's a sense of near-chaos that's tightly held in place by Kaspar's meticulous control. On the flip, 'Silver Lines' arrives like a whisper before slicing the calm wide open. A swelling filter turns a simple synth sequence into something emotionally urgent, anchoring the track's shift from lull to lockdown. Kaspar, like a certain Vegas-showman r&b titan, knows how to be theatrical without losing himself i and here, it shows.

Review: Detroit's Big Strick for his 7 Days Entertainment label has assembled of collection of Motor City leaning sounds from local and international artists here across four vital sides of wax. Generation Next opens with taught, pinging kicks and tinny melodies on deep house gem 'Senza Via D'Uscita' then Flabaire from Paris brings more bleeping sci-fi synths to a churning and dubbed out low end. Big Strick himself layers in electrically charged, fizzing synths and ticking hi-hats to his raw and gritty 'Bang My Shit' and Ron Cook ups the pace with the blissed out bumps of heady hymn, 'Again And Again.' Pegasvs from London also stands out with his great drum programming on '808 Jazz'.

Review: Organic Analogue returns with a rediscovery of Beppu's rare dubbed-out electronica and circuit-bent techno. Andrew Hargreaves is the Manchester-based producer behind this alias which was first making waves back in the late-2000s. Back then it was three limited CDr EPs in 2009, which came with just 50 copies each, that made a stir and still stand up today. As such, the sought-after recordings receive a proper vinyl pressing and have been mastered by Miles Whittaker. Two distinct remixes from Demdike Stare also add further quality and contemporary context to the origins, which blend dub techno and braindance with textured noise. IPOP continues Organic Analogue's tradition of spotlighting overlooked talent having already done so with names like DJ Guy and Jean-Louis Huhta.

Review: Waage is at the heart of the contemporary dub techno scene and makes another fine statement with this outing on Icelandic titan Exos's X/OZ Music. This is his fourth outing and it could be his best: 'W9' rolls with great depth and grainy dub textures that speak of a subterranean world. 'W10' is more dark and heavy like it's soundtracking a dirty factory after dark. 'W11 (feat Cold)' layers in some psychedelic swirls to frictionless beats that could roll for days and never get old. 'W12 (feat Exos)' is lighter and more airy with a playful bounce in the drums.

A Million Ways
Mirror Image
Review: Enduring French house favourite Dyed Soundorom, aka one third of Apollonia, launches his new vinyl-only label, Sweep and promises it will be a carefully curated space for collectors and selectors who value the tactile joy of wax. The debut release comes from the man himself, and he perfectly sets the tone with two expertly crafted grooves. Side A's 'A Million Ways' is a rolling groove anchored by a playful vocal sample and synth-driven rhythm, perfect for peak-time moments. On the flip, 'Mirror Image' dives into deeper, moodier territory by blending melancholic chords with crisp percussion and a subtle, mellow bassline. This marks a strong, sophisticated start for Sweep, but would you expect anything less from Dyed?

Review: Rawax pin another heavyweight to the corkboard with Art Department, as Jonny White returns to vinyl foe-vanquishing following a three-year pause. Now with the 'Paper Cuts' EP, he marks his first solo release in that time, assigning to the listener various moods from tearful garage housers ('Walk With Me') to floor-filling killers ('Jonny's Inferno'). White's towering presence over the scene is further felt with 'Paper Cuts' and 'Jazz Hours', as increasingly sleuthy moods worthy of a dance private detective scour the club backrooms for probable cause.

Review: Burnski's Pilot takes flight once more with another journey into the heart of minimal and tech house, this time with Joolmad at the buttons. He is a UK artist making bold moves on the likes of Pillz and TSOL where he has showcased a contemporary take on the classic tech sound. 'Superlative' opens up here with bouncy drums and steel percussion to get things moving then 'Wobbler' gets more playful with some twisted acid lines and silky synth wisps that keep things trippy. 'Gone For' is more of a straight up driver with thudding kicks and warped sirens and 'Yurgen' has a woozy late night fluidity to it.
