Chad Dubz opens with the provocatively titled "Pricks", all sludgy, swampy and twisted while Karnage & Dayzero up the energy with a dramatic symphonic loopy nod to the far east on "No One" while Guesswerk close the show with the long awaited "Persian Dub". Review: Slovenian dubstep dons DubDiggerz curate the new collection for their "Chapter" series with this quartet of glorious gloom. CLZ returns to the label with "Haunt", a sludgy number that sucks you in like sinking sand. It's followed by a killer VIP of "Watch Yah Steppa" where a spicy little sample is added to the mix for extra hype. Flip for "Madness" as DubDiggerz bring Rawland into the fold with a tense workout that's prone to sudden textural twists and boasts stacks of space between the percussion. Finally Flo & Gisaza close the EP with a moody marching piece that rumbles ominously building up to big waves of eastern mysticism. Depend on DeepEnd.

Review: With a tried and tested pedigree on labels such as Nomad, Tuba, Gamma Audio and Bacon Dubs, Italian substers D Operation Drop jump aboard emerging imprint Subaltern and bring Geode along for the ride. The results are unnervingly stark and slick. First up "Stronghold": rhythm-heavy, it builds itself around a hypnotic hook that ricochets back and forth with mesmerising effect. "Angkor" is a more percussive workout that enjoys layers of detailed drum work tightly woven with a dark funk DNA. For added grit jump on Perverse's remix where a guttural bassline lays in wait, ready to chew all suspecting dancefloors' faces off.

Review: Istanbul's Sublime Porte describe themselves as a team of creative individuals, and what began initially as a net label back in 2008 has latterly blossomed into the physical realm. Sublime Porte's output has been inspired by various strands of electronic music, but it's the hardcore continuum that dominates proceedings on the split release Various Beats From Sublime Artists Vol.I 12". Derivate opens proceedings with "All My Homies Clappin," an effervescent exercise in Bass music that has the sort of musicality you would find on an Eglo B Side, whilst the spirit of Marvin Gaye is mixed up with murky basslines and swung rhythms on Beto Narme's contribution. Face down "Soul Is A Lie" finds Gantz in introspective mood and Stiver's final cut "Bergamo" has a touch of the Autonomics about it.

Review: Finally. More presses of the killer 002 from Run Outs land and it's every bit as chilling as it was when they first teased us with it. "Unstable" is a meditative shimmering brew, unhurried and pace-setting while "Monolith" flips the vibe for something a little more warped and weird. Linking with mysterious producer Gisaza, they add a grumbling bassline, creepy arpeggios and sudden switches under a hazy cosmic sheen. Powerful stuff. You'd be wise to snap up on this before they Run Out again (not sorry).

Review: Highly limited and sonically stunning, this special 7" taken from Gabriel's Raggabass Resistance album, neither of these versions have seen the light of day before. And, according to the label, they're not likely to see it after this limited press. Gabriel's own version is authentic dub to the very core: rich organic instrumentation, a huge spacious bass and full emphasis on the groove. Dim Mak's Ming and Lee Perry's own Subatomic Sound System provide the contemporary version; squidgy, squelchy and full of surprises, it's a neat reminder of dubstep's innate funkiness. We're luvin' it!

Review: Blacklist hit release number five and it's the label bossman doing what he does best: taking us down dark paths on twisted, subverted adventures we didn't even know existed. "Space Horror" bundles us into the boot of a rusty old rocket and speeds down the backstreets of Omicron Persei 8 where the drums slouch along the slimy alleys and bassline groan and fall out of dark corners. "Walk On Lava" sees us being chucked out of the spaceship from a great height into the eye of a volcano. With blistering kicks and a tense acid line, will we make it out on time or will our geese get cooked? There's only way to find out...

Review: Black Box are thoroughly rinsing dubstep to find some of the most exciting producers out there at the moment. It's impressive. What's more impressive still is that they can switch from intricate, deeply emotive artists like Author to people like Gantz here, who plays it cool, calm and razor sharp. Crisp and methodical with only a hint of tape hiss mixed in with his hard echoing beats, Gantz clearly comes from the school of "less is more". It works a treat. Thelem's remix adds percussive layers to create his own distinct stamp but the effect is the same - deep dubstep like this needs space to work in. When it's worked as well as this, the effect is stunning.

Review: This Turkish dubstep producer is on fire at the moment with appearances on Deep Medi and that awesome collaboration with Commodo and Kahn that got loads of people talking earlier in the year. He now serves up The tough bounce and wobble of "Tut Tut Situation" which is the street level sound of Istanbul representing good and proper; new bass frontiers explored on this one for sure. On the flip, we've got the gnarly underground anthem "Love & Acid" slithering then bashing away beneath layers of distortion and saturation on this savage, lo-fi groove.

Review: From the eastern sorcerer who gave us 'Dying On Acid' a few years ago on Deep Medi comes 'Pusher Acid', one of the most beguiling EPs Gantz has cast our way in some time. Six tracks over two 12"s, there's a real measured pace and sense of tension running across the collection as we gradually build up to the pensive, fierce and well-chiselled title track. Elsewhere we have the eerie cinematica of 'Sleepless Elite', the left-footed lollops and slug-like bassline of 'Chiral' and the palpitating, slo-mo seduction of the vinyl-only cut 'Spineless'. Keep pushing on.

Review: Deep Medi regular Gantz has developed a spotless reputation for subverted bass treatments but "Spry Sinister" is unlike anything he's ever done before. In fact it's unlike anything anyone has ever done before; swaying on a warped triplet riddim, the seasick groove is compounded by a paranoid vocal loop that persists with hypnotic venom. "Rising", a co-lab with El Mahdy Jr, sees Gantz tapping into his Eastern roots with a string-heavy half-stepper that's coated with mystic prayer calls and an unnervingly rich bottom end. Truly stunning.

Review: Gantz builds on the smart sonics he's developed with Innamind ("Stayer", "Enso", "Cave Dance") with two extreme future beat visions. "Baby Face" is almost DJ Shadow in its make-up as the lazy beats wallop and weave with a mind of their own and the bassline lollops with more of a hip-hop attitude than a dub bite. His remix of Lurka's "Refresher" is equally unique thanks to its strange sample magic, unpredictable drum dynamic and array of trippy sounds. As with all Gantz material, this is truly distinctive and defies classic categorisation. Essential.

Review: Not to be confused with the US-based, video nasty obsessed synth nerds of the same name, Bristol-based Gatekeeper's releases for the likes of Skull Disco and Punch Drunk have been few and far between but have always displayed a keen ear for progressive dubstep rhythms. This EP on Apple Pips is undoubtedly his sharpest to date - "Atmosphere Processer" utilizes a galloping breakbeat, a revving bassline and dusty synth pads for some proper Metalheadz meets contemporary Bristol vibes. "Let Us In" on the other hand is full of more suitably stripped back rhythms, but with a distinctly more dubbed out atmosphere coating its corkscrew bassline.

Review: One of the founding fathers of grime makes his debut on Soulja with a blistering 12" that bridges the gap between grime and dubstep. Geeneus (aka Wizzbit) has been at the top of the game since his early grime smash "Jam Hot", and most recently with his huge remix of Wonder's "What". "Dark Boy" leads things off and it's a dark rolling half-stepper with haunting vocal samples which will work well on dubstep dancefloors. On the flip the Metalheadz soaked vibes of "Parasite" roll into the guitar riffs of "Bad". This release is certainly one for the Grime MCs .

Review: Destination Denver: Ghast lays down some pure volcanic bass on Overdue's latest black label series. So heavy it has to drag itself along as it groans and scuffs the gutter, "Vehement Mess" lives up to its name in all possible ways and is backed with an even heavier remix from RDG. Flip for a more cosmic crusade as "Mothership" takes us for a cruise around the stars on a rocket made of pure cement kicks while Overdue bosses finish with a remix that's primed for the biggest of rigs. Respect due to Overdue.

Review: By now, we should all be familiar with Ghost Phone's unique formula, namely chopped, screwed, twisted and re-imagined R&B workouts provided by a never-named crew of mystery producers. The Bristol based imprint has moved the goalposts once more on volume five, first fusing grime and dub techno and the pleasingly stoned and weighty 'Hotline', before opting for more extensive vocals, glassy-eyed chords and bustling beats on 'Come Over'. 'Hit Diff' raises the bar further by combining jungle breaks and the forthright attitude of ghetto-tech, while 'Blame' is a deliciously warming, loved-up slab of hazy R&B brilliance. If there's a more inventive and inspired rework series out there, we've yet to find it.

Review: Though best known for their tech-house offerings, Berlin label Styrax have already dipped their toes in the murky world of bass with a release from Synkro last year, and now they turn to Ghostlight, a collaboration between Ghostek and Roof Light for more. "Tomorrow's Child" showcases a mastery of swung garage mechanics, dub textures and melancholy atmospherics. "Pretenders To A Crown Long" is characterised by its deep subs recalling classic dubstep, while "Saboteur" is a more rolling affair, pulsing with deep low-end and spectral ambience.
