Keep It In The Family
  1. 9th House - "Harmonic Convergence" (4:13)
  2. Ruff Stuff - "Still Dancing" (6:46)
  3. Adam Curtain - "Wonk That Arp" (5:06)
  4. Bobby Cazanova - "Big Eden" (5:13)
  5. Arthur Dudley X Retromigration - "Moody Knights" (5:13)
Review: A collaboration between Bristol's Shall Not Fade and London label/clothing line Handy here titled Keep It In The Family. SNF tapped 9th House & Berlin-based Italian Ruff Stuff for some wicked techno tracks, and it's all about the latter doing his best Aril Brikha impression on 'Still Dancing'. Representing Handy we have Bobby Cazanova serving up some bass-heavy sci-fi fantasies on the electro number 'Big Eden' and a collab between Arthur Dudley and Retromigration who serve up some smoky, late night deep house on 'Moodyknight'.

Lausanna (hand-stamped 1-sided 12")
Cat: IM 011. Rel: 28 Mar 22
  1. Track 1 (6:50)
Review: 's been a while since a single-sided record hit our shelves, and for the first time in yonks we can thank Toronto house legend Abacus for breaking that spell. Following a string of killer releases on local labels like Prescription and Guidance, we're more than taken by this swirly s/s sizzler. 'Lausanna' is a track for deep house DJs of all sizes, easily bridging laid-back freshness with bassy hard-hittingness. Thanks Innermoods!

Believe In You
Cat: BF 003. Rel: 05 Apr 22
  1. Believe In You (extended mix) (7:49)
  2. Believe In You (extended dub) (1:36)
  3. Believe In You (AMF New Yorkshire remix) (7:01)
  4. Believe In You (acappella) (7:13)
Review: Sheffield's Adelphi Music Factory are making no bones about their mission to keep classic piano house music alive. Their drops on the likes of Shall Not Fade and Beat Factory tell you all you need to know, and now they're back on the latter with another slice of peak time crowd-pleasing magic. 'Believe In You' is a vocal led epic to get everyone in hearing distance shaking in celebration, and there's a full complement of mixes from the 'Extended Mix' to the 'Extended Club' to suit your situation. AMF's 'New Yorkshire Remix' rounds the EP off with some proper tuff stuff - a bumping garage take for those who like their house a little spicier.

Make You Whole

  2. Make You Whole (Coco Bryce remix) (6:32)
  3. Make You Whole (7:57)
  4. Make You Whole (Smokin Jo dub) (5:49)
Review: bBreakbeats have been back in fashion for a hot minute now. They are reliable vehicles for many things - all out high energy raving or piano laced uplifting joy. We get a bit of all of that more on this new selection of remixes of Andonicus's 'Make You Whole' tune. Dusky go first with a feel good and euphoric sound that is old school in mood but new school in execution. Coco Bryce then deploys some of his masterful jungle breaks for a high energy trip and after a remaster of the big and bouncy original version comes a Smokin Jo dub that is pure fire.

Review: Platform 23 presents Ani-Roy, a project from friends Aniruddha Das and Gary "Roy" Stewart, who recorded two 12's of improvisational acid-house meets drone and samples in 1990.

They met over a love of principally reggae and post punk at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham in 1982, and started combining equipment, to make tape loops and delays for exploring the basics of dub, all the while building their own Sound System.

This learning and experimenting converged their interests in early possibilities afforded for programming sounds and effects. They moved to London / Birmingham respectively and continued their collaboration until all things aligned in 1990. Coming together with Andrew Campbell, a community / social entrepreneur based in Nottingham - and with access to the Marcus Garvey Centre studios - they recorded two improvisational jams to 2 16 track; Ani arranging drum and bass lines, programming 'counter melodies' with a TB-303, and Roy looking after the ominous ambient loops, melodies, riot and Prince Far I samples.

The fact there were so many "versions" compelled Andrew to put the results out on two 12's instead of one. Fari 116 and Tilt were self-released on hand-stamped white labels.

Archival testaments, but set apart from the burgeoning acid house scene - here they are re-mastered and reissued some 30 years later by Platform 23.

  1. Transmission (6:32)
  2. Sable Sun (with Jon Sable) (6:57)
  3. Tremors (5:37)
  4. Red Light (6:41)
Review: Three years after he concluded a run of fine EPs on Delusions of Grandeur, Ben Sun has brought his musically rich, hard-to-pigeonhole fusion of deep house, jazz-funk and nu-disco to Razor N Tape Reserve for the very first time. He's in fine form, too, skipping between deliciously detailed, musically expansive deep house-disco (the spacey synth solos, rubbery bass, cut-glass strings and nods to Metro Area of 'Transmission'), supremely spacey deep house (Jon Sable hook-up 'Sable Son'), tributes to Chicago house-influenced late 1980s deep synth-pop ('Tremors', which sounds like a cross between Dream 2 Science and the Pet Shop Boys more melancholic moments) and squelchy piano house ('Red Light').

Review: ....Ultra deepness once again from the deepArtSounds camp this week. The Never Enough EP is a various artists release curated by the Swiss imprint, featuring the emotively melancholic feelings of Benklawk & Mabutana's 'Dance' (feat Tshepo King) channeling that Prescription Records vibe of old, while Maltese duo Owen Jay & Melchior Sultana get an icy and cavernous dubwise style on 'The Drums'. Over on the flip, Tominori Hosoya serves up some sublime technosoul on 'Rodeo Drive' and Manuel Costela's stunning 'Remember Your Love' is real proper deep stuff - tip!

  5. Big Chirp (4:57)
Review: Next up on SlothBoogie Records is the return of Vancouverite Jesse Bru, who follows up great releases on Happiness Therapy, Pulse Msc and Inhale Exhale. He joins forces with Max Ulis (Sabota) for this collaborative EP titled Similar Nature. On the A side you've got the hypnotic dub house stomper 'Banh Mi' followed by the rolling main room tech house of 'Moisture Cult' which is equally as icy and glacial. Over on the flip, they mix it up a bit with the inclusion of the emotive electro number 'TBH' and ending with the swingy minimal house of 'Big Chirp' in the vein of the classic Cabinet Records style.

  1. You're My (8:20)
  2. So Special (5:39)
  3. Won't Let You Go (5:13)
  4. What Do U See? (5:25)
Review: Brooklyn's Will Buck is back on his very own Off Track Recordings with a scorching three-tracker titled So Special. It's classic house of his home city all the way on this one; whether it's the deeply emotive groove of opening cut 'You're My' with those mesmerising pads, and lush M1 keys throughout underpinned by punchy 909 rhythms - typical motifs of the day eh! Elsewhere, the hypnotic swing of infectious B side cut 'Won't Let You Go' calls to mind the very best of Strictly Rhythm's back catalogue, and closes it out with the moodier and serious 'What Do U See?' with its addictive vocal loops and uplifting pianos.

Get On Your Feet
Cat: CARDIOLOGY 13. Rel: 25 Apr 22
  1. Get On Your Feet (5:31)
  2. The Solution (5:52)
  3. Disco Gang (5:51)
  4. Doing The Boogie (5:59)
Review: Last year saw Greek edit wunderkind C Da Afro drop two joints on Cardiology amongst a whole load more discofied party fodder for the likes of SpinCat, Sound Exhibitions and more besides. Now he's back on Cardiology with even more goodies to share with the people in the place, leading in with intention through the rabble rousing 'Get On Your Feet'. He's working the filter hard on 'The Solution', teasing the funk until that sweet release on the drop. 'Disco Gang' whips up Backlash's classic '81 stomper 'Hang With The Gang' and gives it a gentle house injection, while 'Doing The Boogie' burrows deep into the groove for a simmering cut to keep the crowd loose and limber.

Cat: LD 17. Rel: 26 Apr 22
  1. The Night Forest (5:59)
  2. Gmork (5:43)
  3. Falkor (6:20)
Review: Carlo's latest foray is on Whiskey Disco sublabel Lovedancing, and it is one of his best. The entire EP is loosely influenced by The Neverending Story, heard in the use of its samples, inspired sounds, artwork and themes. First up on side A we have the sultry funky house groove of 'The Night Forest', then turn over for the low slung late night deepness of 'Gmork' which is packed full of swing. Closing it out is the sensual 'Falkor' reminiscent of classic early noughties deep house in the vein of Naked Music.

Elektro Statik: Part One
Elektro Statik: Part One (blue marbled vinyl 12")
Cat: TRECS 006. Rel: 31 Mar 22
  1. In Transit (6:06)
  2. Mimas (5:32)
  3. A Star Dies (5:04)
  4. Dione (6:31)
Review: Derek Carr's brand of Detroit-influenced electronic futurism has always oozed class, with the Irish producer prioritising mood, melody and ear-pleasing synth sounds above all else. It's this blend - both club-ready and perfect for home listening - that makes his releases worth checking. We'd highly recommend Electro Statik Part One, the first in a series of vinyl excursions that as usual blur the boundaries between styles. He begins with the immersive chords, jumpy lead lines and smooth house beats of 'In Transit', before diving headlong into deep electro-meets-IDM waters on the impeccable 'Mimas'. Turn to side B for the skittish, far-sighted and picturesque electro-not-electro number 'A Star Dies', as well as the warming, pitched-down electronic melancholia of 'Dione'.

Gypsy Woman
Gypsy Woman (7" + insert + MP3 download code 再出版)
Cat: CONY 0016. Rel: 24 Mar 22
  1. Gypsy Woman (4:07)
  2. Gypsy Woman (DJ Koco remix) (3:38)
Review: We don't know much about Cat Boys, other than that they're a Japanese trio that has delivered a string of surprising, jazz-funk flavoured cover versions over the last seven years. They first tackled Crystal Waters' house classic 'Gypsy Woman' with vocalist Asuka Ando back in 2018, delivering a lightly jazz-funk-flecked live organ-house take. On this brand-new 2022 version, they've dialled up the spacey jazz-funk synth solos and bongo-rich percussion, while also giving greater prominence to Ando's new Japanese lyrics. Over on the flip, DJ Koko reaches for some classic disco vocal samples on an organ-rich take that sticks closer to the 1990s organ-house vibe while utilising the band's organic instrumentation.

Portals Of Unknown
Cat: TR 033. Rel: 21 Mar 22
  1. Ancient Astronauts (6:45)
  2. Stargate To Cosmos (6:45)
  3. Object In The Sky (7:51)
Review: Three distinctly outer space-themed cuts from Greece's Alex Celler, each with a linear minimal/tech skeleton that has other, interloping musical influences draped elegantly and classily across it. 'Ancient Astronuats' has the weird, wired mystical stirrings of early Black Dog about it, complete with melting, bendy electro notations that coax it along and add a psychedelic dimension. 'Stargate To Cosmos' has a playful, Drexciyan feel to it, with crunchy, organic drum beats flirting alongside the more rigid electrics. 'Object In The Sky' is the most minimal of the pack, sleek and stalker-like, but still contains enough action - mainly floating around up there in the ether - to hold and build attention.

Spaces & Places: Album Sampler 1
Cat: KTLP 001V1. Rel: 26 Apr 22
  1. Never Thought (feat Sunchilde - 623 Again vocal) (6:24)
  2. Never Thought (feat Sunchilde - 623 Again instrumental) (6:25)
  3. Get Lost In It (feat Lady Linn - Full vocal main mix) (7:03)
  4. Get Lost In It (feat Lady Linn - instrumental) (7:02)
Review: Later this year Kerri Chandler will release Spaces & Places, his first album in 14 years. Interestingly, the whole album was made "on location", with Chandler taking a small, mobile studio to some of the world's most lauded clubs in order to gain inspiration. This album sampler boasts vocal and instrumental takes on two of the hottest tracks from the set. On side A you'll find 'Never Thought', a wonderfully rolling, bumping and extra-percussive affair recorded at London's Printworks that's rich in deep analogue bass, layered drums and effortless piano motifs. Turn to the flip for 'You Get Lost In It', a more melodious, warming and soulful number that sounds tailor-made not only for the Warehouse Project in Manchester, where it was recorded, but 4am dancefloors the world over.

Trionisphere EP Part 1
Trionisphere EP Part 1 (white vinyl 12")
Cat: KSS 1046WHITE. Rel: 30 Mar 22
  1. Tribe Of The Night (6:31)
  2. The Beginning (5:38)
  3. Keep Me Inside (7:03)
  4. All About Love (7:18)
Review: Kerri Chandler's back catalogue is so deep that it will take record labels a while to run out of gems to reissue. The Tronisphere EP Part 1, which dates from 1996, is a lesser-celebrated but nevertheless superb four-tracker that here reappears on white vinyl. Opener 'Tribe of The Night' is pleasingly sweaty and forthright, with Chandler adding guttural vocal samples and hypnotic synth riffs to teak-tough beats, while 'The Beginning' is a jazzy, sub-heavy slab of mind-mangling late-night deep house. You'll find more bumpin' beats and echoing vocal samples on stripped-back flipside opener 'Keep Me Inside', while closing cut 'All About Love' is an emotive, immersive and melodious NYC deep house classic.

  1. Echolocation (6:06)
  2. Liquid Experience (7:07)
  3. Brainstorm (feat Mongo Skato) (6:58)
  4. Mind Massage (6:03)
Review: Six months after it first landed digitally, Chaos in the CBD's superb Brainstorm EP has finally made it to vinyl. In keeping with the Helliker-Hales brothers' previous outings on their own In Dust We Trust label, all four tracks on show are rooted in the warmth and hypnotism of dub house. They hit the ground running with 'Echolocation', where dreamy deep house motifs and dub techno chords ride a warm and hazy late-night groove, before delivering a lighter and airier exploration of similar influences on the impeccable 'Liquid Experience'. Mongo Skato collaboration 'Brainstorm' is jazzier, jauntier and a touch less dub-wise - though still wonderfully smoky - while closing cut 'Mind Message' delivers weightless, mind-soothing deep house warmth by the bucket-load.

  2. Moodena - "Cotton Club" (6:10)
  3. Sartorial - "Ancient Aliens" (6:00)
  4. Infrasoul - "Quanto Amor" (5:28)
Review: Collab EPs are back in fashion, and Tropical Disco are leading their charge. The boundlessly potentiated space between disco, dance and jazz is their game, and 'Tropical Disco Volume 23' proves they can win it time and time again. Four tracks of trumpetting 4x4 glory-buzz dominate this EP. Clean Is Good wipes the floor with disco-edit edge, while Moodena comes through with a mighty mood of motor city madness, and Sartorial and Infrasoul share the B-side with a pair of broken, drum-banging and glass-shattering instrumentals. There's even a disco flute in there somewhere.

New World Shuffle (remixes)
  1. New World Shuffle (feat Bridgette Amofah - DJ Spinna Galactic Soul remix) (8:10)
  2. Inner Light (feat Raashan Ahmad - Anthony Nicholson Miquifaye remix) (8:41)
Review: Earlier this year, we were treated to two top-notch Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell remixes of 'Inner Light', one of the standout cuts from Nicola Conte and Gianluca Petrella's fantastic collaborative album People Need People. Here we're treated to two more fresh takes on cuts from that essential LP. On side A, DJ Spinna gives his 'galactic soul' take on 'New World Shuffle', re-imagining the track as a languid but floor-friendly fusion of cosmic soul, neo-boogie, deep house and contemporary jazz-funk electronics. Equally as impressive is former Ron Trent protege Anthony Nicholson's remix of 'Inner Light', where twinkling jazz pianos, spacey synth sounds, evocative synth-strings and Raashan Ahmad's fine spoken word vocals rise above a sumptuous and luxurious deep house groove.

Review: DJ and producer Tom Burford, aka. The Rhythm Section signee here strips back his normally overt emotive sound for a more dubious backroad, with lead 'Distant Memories' and 'Echoes Under Pass' traversing dubbier and more subdued territories than usual for the producer. Elsewhere, 'Kysuhu' and 'Projections' ease up the mystery for harder-hitting forays into electro slappage.

  1. Shafty Riptide (6:32)
  2. Corners (5:26)
Review: Marcellus Pittman and James Curd go head-to-head on this new collaborative split, hearing two tracks from the Chi-troit musicians and their ability to fuse each other's approaches to minimal house. 'Shafty Riptide' has in it the sonic equivalent of lapping waves; 'chained chords inhale and exhale against the beats, while farty arps bring up the bottom end. 'Corners' takes on a jazzier and folktronickier mood, with odd timings urging on a much more subdued soundscape.

Review: Giovanni Damico has done plenty of great house EPs in his time but on this one he explores a retro Italo and disco sounds with lashings of synth and wave influences. His EP for Star Crature opens with 'Ashes' which could well be a long forgotten classic getting a timely reissue. The machines bring a nice analogue texture, the melodies are filled with 80s nostalgia and the whole thing is coated in dust. Flip it over and you will find the more leggy cosmic explosions and chugging basslines of 'Milky Way' which is finished with a perfect vocal and plenty of nice vocoder sounds.

Review: Given his love of dub disco, dusty samples, skewed house and all things cosmic, Das Komplex (real name Marcin Lukaszewicz) seems like an appropriate signing to Prins Thomas and Kai Fraeger's Internasjonal label. Predictably, the Polish producer has dutifully delivered an excellent EP that ticks all of these boxes. For proof, check the cowbell-sporting, bass guitar-heavy, piano stab-showcasing dub disco chug of 'Pillow Stories', the effects-laden, edits-not-edit early morning disco fun of 'Onomatopeaja Slimacza' and the pitched-down brilliance of 'By The Hand', a breathlessly heavy, percussion-rich slab of Afro-disco/dub disco fusion that makes great use of sneaky samples from an original disco-era favourite.

It is his second outing for the Spanish label and explores more deep but propulsive deep house worlds, with opener 'Loop Soup' pairing a rasping bassline with cosmic chords and nice raw drums and perc. 'Work 4 Love' then brings the party with hand-raising chords, lush bassline soulfulness and more than a hint of old US house school magic. This most timeless and tasteful EP closes with another perfect house cut, 'Longo Time' with lovely leggy drums.

The Colour Series I
The Colour Series I (hand-stamped translucent red vinyl 10")
Cat: REPEAT 04X. Rel: 10 May 22
  1. Make Me (5:59)
  2. Missing Time (6:53)
Review: Two unreleased tracks by Englishman Richard Davis on his Repeat imprint. On the A side, you've got the sensual, late night mood music of "Make Me" delivered in his idiosyncratic style that's been heard on imprints such as 240 Volts, Moodmusic and Noir over the years. Over on the flip, there's the deep, afterhours-minded dub of 'Missing Time' which sounds like it could possibly be from the early noughties with its minimal sound. Also known as Dennis Kensington, the Berlin-based producer reissued some of his much sought after 12"s under the Junkie Satre alias on Repeat last year.

Day Out Of Time EP
Cat: HH 002. Rel: 16 May 22
  1. Rising Tide (6:07)
  2. The Urge (7:04)
  3. Private Ay (6:37)
  4. When Love Beckons (6:30)

This second release on Heads High brings an EP from label owner Mike Misiu under the moniker Day Out Of Time. Four diverse tracks forged from a year of studio jams, road tested on airwaves and discerning dancefloors and now honed and available for your delectation.

Opening 4/4 cut 'Rising Tide' builds the atmosphere and tension with synth stabs, morphing arps and a throbbing sub-bass. 'The Urge' struts in on a hybrid electro-funk tip, twisting, chopping and vocoder-ing an 80's rock vocal and sax into a dance-floor detonator.

On the flip side 'Private Ay' chugs along on a mid-tempo Moog bass groove that re-imagines and re-works some infamous guitar licks, before the E.P. climaxes with 'When Love Beckons' - a pulsing electro-discoid ode to love, powered by moody analog bass, acid lines and an impassioned poetic vocal.

All tracks produced by Mike Misiu, mastered by Curved.

Hymn Of Truth EP (feat Byron The Aquarius remix)
  1. Hymn Of Truth (6:06)
  2. Hymn Of Truth (dub) (6:08)
  3. Hymn Of Truth (Byron The Aquarius remix) (4:22)
  4. Hymn Of Truth (Demuir Stripped acappella) (6:06)
Review: Welcome to Purveyor Underground Limited. For our first release we are very excited to present Hymn of truth by Demuir. Leading off the A side we have the original mix starting with a banging bass line and snares leading into a spoken word that is reminiscent of those gritty 90's tracks from the likes of Green Velvet a la Preacherman The track quickly builds from there into a late night juggernaut that does not slow down! This is peak time underground house music at its finest. Up next we have the Dub mix for those who like to get down on the instrumental tip. On the flip side we get that remix treatment from house music heavy hitter Byron The Aquarius (Axis Records/Sound Signature/ Shall Not Fade). Byron has taken Hymn Of Truth into deeper territory and the result is absolutely stunning. Layered pads and beautiful strings accompany a slightly subdued bass line which turns this track into something totally different while maintaining the integrity Demuir's original vision. For the last track we have Demuir's Stripped accapella which is just that, a bare bones version of the title track that is very useful as a tool or to blend between the dub or any other version of the track.

Tiger's Eye
  1. Tiger's Eye (11:38)
  2. Orgonite (6:00)
  3. Orgonite (Riding The Waves) (6:21)
Review: Berlin's Cocktail d'Amore and Tokyo's Ene Records have come together once again to present the music of Solidair. The duo of Cocktail alumni Luigi Di Venere and Jules Etienne present three tracks aimed to induce a dance floor hypnosis. Orgonite (Riding the Waves) does just that, a slow build awash in the ebb and flow of acid tinges, just enough to wet your whistle on a Saturday night. The original mix keeps the skeletal support but throws in a life preserver of 8 bit gaming synthesis. Frisky arps call and respond to each other before making way for sinewy pads to lift off. Tiger's Eye sets itself onto cruising speed incorporating elements of late 90's acid techno with the sleek and smooth clubbing aesthetics of modern day Berlin.

Review: Dirotta Su Cuba is an Italian jazz / funk / pop band formed in in Florence over 30 years ago. We have another pressing of their 2020 single "Nothing Is Impossible", with the smooth acid jazz of the original complemented by the low slung, Latin influenced funky house on the Cimbamix - which is worth it for the price alone. Over on the flip, hop aboard the slo-mo funk train on the splendid "Thinking Of You" (Dove Sei) (feat Sonny King) once again featuring Simona Bencini's amazing vocal work and finally a roaring cover of the soul classic "Pride (In The Name Of Love)" (feat Antonio Farao & PNUC).

The Hardbody Project

  1. Hardbody (6:42)
  2. Track 166 (6:28)
  3. Deepshyt (6:19)
  4. Strobe (5:46)
Review: Sloth Boogie has scored something of a coup in signing this EP from DJ Aakmael (real name Greg Stewart), whose track record of producing ultra-deep, high calibre fare makes him one of the most lauded house producers of the last decade. There's naturally plenty to savour across the EP's four tracks, from the languid, laidback shuffle of 'Hardbody' - all mazy, eyes-closed synth solos, warming riffs, dreamy chords and Theo Parrish style deep house beats - to the hazy, Omar-S-esque 'Deepshyt' and jaunty, quietly celebratory 'Strobe'. Our pick of an incredible strong bunch is 'Track 166', if only for the quality of the jazzy piano solos that sit atop Stewart's woozy chords and locked-in beats.

Winona EP
Winona EP (limited 12" 再出版)
Cat: EBEAMZ 004. Rel: 20 Apr 22
  1. DJ Boring - "Winona" (8:35)
  2. Magma - "You" (6:22)
Review: The E-Beamz label recently debuted with a fine 12" of jungle-influenced haziness from Tim Shug and DJ Playstation. Here, they swiftly move on to EP number two, showcasing tracks from debutants DJ Boring and Magma. The former's A-side cut, "Winona" - so called because it utilizes vocal samples from an interview with actress Winona Ryder - sounds like a long-lost early '90s cut: an ultra-deep treat full of deep space chords, analogue deep house beats and psychedelic TB-303 abuse. Magma's dustier flipside cut, "You", explores similar old skool pastures, making use of both barnstorming techno drums and sweaty jungle breaks. Throw in ridiculously deep chords and riffs, and some eyes-closed vocal samples, and you have another late night winner.

  1. Losing Myself (4:26)
  2. Bass Rapture (3:36)
  3. Feelin' Real (4:52)
  4. Lonely Days (4:10)
Review: We're not sure whether these tunes are genuinely old (which we think they are), or merely an attempt to recapture the Chicago and New York house sounds of 1988, but either way, this EP from veteran NYC producer DJ Duke is well worth checking. He begins with 'Losing Myself', where sharp, mind-altering electronics ride a booming bassline and jacking TR-909 beats, before opting for an even more psychedelic, clonking and bleeping sound on 'Bass Rapture'. He opts for a more hypnotic, Lil' Louis-goes-Italo-disco flex on 'Feelin' Real', while 'Lonely Days' is the kind of warming, colourful NYC deep house lushness that could have come out on Nu Groove back in the day.

Doin' W3rk EP

  1. Amour Est Libre (6:17)
  2. Good Love (6:07)
  3. Lonely Nights (6:14)
  4. Show U How (6:17)
Review: Bay-Area native Jason Sutton aka DJ Mes should require no introduction. One of the champions of the west coast house sound, he's run the Oakland-based label Guesthouse Music since 1994 which has released a prolific catalog of bass-heavy tracks that have scorched dancefloors over the years. For his imprint's 52nd release, he serves up four surefire tracks on the Doin' W3rk EP, which features 'Amour Est Libre' with its the funky disco loops, and the dubby and hypnotic shuffle of 'Good Love' which is a proper throwback to that early noughties sound he helped popularise alongside the like of Chris Lum, Jay-J and Hipp-E & Halo.

Do It All Night
Do It All Night (red vinyl 12")
Cat: PLE 654036. Rel: 14 Apr 22
  1. Do It All Night (7:46)
  2. Do It All Night (Honey Dijon remix) (6:14)
Review: Despite being the First Lady of Detroit dance music, DJ Minx has yet to find fame outside of her home city. 'Do It All Night', her first single for Carl Craig's Planet E label, may just change that. First featured on one of the label's compilations a few years back and now getting a deserved single release, the track is a rolling, heavily electronic house workout marked out by addictively soulful vocals extolling the pleasures of dancing all night. Minx's original version comes accompanied by a heavier, more energetic and thoroughly sweaty revision from Chicago native Honey Dijon. Her version is a darker, warehouse-ready revision that sounds a little like a tougher, more tooled-up take on Kerri Chandler's turn-of-the-century electronic house sound
