Review: Dubstep doesn't get much heavier than these two bumpers from scene founder Coki. "Hold On Wait" is a rolling warped sawtooth serenade, garnished with dubbed out murmurs from MC Blacks. The equally anticipated "Bedouins" looks just as good on the B; riding roughshod with an eastern horn hook we're soon thrown deep into the angular mid-range croak pit as Coki reminds us who the boss is (again). Both head-twistingly simple, sweet and savage, it's another golden strike for Coki's Don't Get It Twisted imprint.

Review: Out on Distinctive, Caper's garage-inflected breakbeat stomper "Something Else" is a proper delight. Simple but wildly effective, it drops after a long intro into chunky 2-step drums and some hard, sub-riding bass and locks into an infectious groove. Female vocal shots nestle over the top of it all, and a slowly rising analogue synth pattern launches the tune to new heights. The legendary Rennie Pilgrem adds a "Nu-Funk" mix of "Something Else" which radically shifts the mood into a bustling stew of samples, P-Funk bass and slick '70s guitars. Another Caper original, "Noir" rides a menacing half-step and some mean chord stabs for a nice contrast to Pilgrem's uplifting disco mix.

Review: A couple of big, big remixes here to sit alongside Dub Police lynchpin Caspa's bid for "certified carnival anthem" with the soca leaning ravestep of "Fulham 2 Waterloo" on the receiving end of remixes from Roska and Emalkay. Emalkay's rowdy version is a straight up, no holds barred trance banger - proper rave tackle! Review: Flipping the proverbial script, Caspa, once named villain of the "brostep" scene pokes fun at the chart success of unnamed individuals in the contemporary scene with his tongue-in-cheek Not For The Playlist EP. Taking it back to its aggressive Croydon roots a la N Type and Hatcha in "Sir Rock A Lot" he blends raw bassline pressure with aggressive stabbing drums and transposes this to "Champion Skank". Review: Caspa has become one of the true starlets of dubstep over the last year. There is even an argument to suggest that he has now crossed over into the mainstream, such is his popularity. Despite his increasing fame, his sound still remains the same, grounded in the true underground sense of the scene.
It was last year's debut album, "Everybody's Talking, Nobody's Listening!" That made the masses pay attention to a DJ that had already been captivating the underground for some time. Maintaining his style that won the original fans in the first place, his sound started to reach a bigger audience. With his own Dub Police night's residency at London super -club, Fabric in addition to his ever growing remix requests, (he has previously remixed Depeche Mode and Deadmau5 ) it is fair to say that he is a man at the top of his game. Added to that, he is also a highly in-demand DJ throughout the world, famed for dark, bass fuelled sets that set the clubs on fire. However, with all this, Caspa has struggled to find the time to produce again.
However, having now pledged to return to the studio, he returns with his first release of the year, "I Beat My Robot." Complete with a jump-up, full throttled drum & bass remix of Original Sin's "Marmite," the release is strictly for the rave environment. The title track hits it hard with Caspa's trademark heavyweight sound before his remix finally removes any last hint of sanity that has managed to stay within you.
