Review: Dubstep doesn't get much heavier than these two bumpers from scene founder Coki. "Hold On Wait" is a rolling warped sawtooth serenade, garnished with dubbed out murmurs from MC Blacks. The equally anticipated "Bedouins" looks just as good on the B; riding roughshod with an eastern horn hook we're soon thrown deep into the angular mid-range croak pit as Coki reminds us who the boss is (again). Both head-twistingly simple, sweet and savage, it's another golden strike for Coki's Don't Get It Twisted imprint.

Review: You'd be Madd to miss out on this (ahem)... Vinyl only and super-limited, Candy Man's soundclash banger (that samples the well-known horn hook from Sister Nancy's "Bam Bam") gets a fantastic dub treatment that oozes respect for the original AND dubstep class. To begin with the beats bolster the vibe of the original, but by the end we're all skanking to a well bodied bassline and reminder of how funky dubstep can be in the right hands.

Review: Caspa has become one of the true starlets of dubstep over the last year. There is even an argument to suggest that he has now crossed over into the mainstream, such is his popularity. Despite his increasing fame, his sound still remains the same, grounded in the true underground sense of the scene.
It was last year's debut album, "Everybody's Talking, Nobody's Listening!" That made the masses pay attention to a DJ that had already been captivating the underground for some time. Maintaining his style that won the original fans in the first place, his sound started to reach a bigger audience. With his own Dub Police night's residency at London super -club, Fabric in addition to his ever growing remix requests, (he has previously remixed Depeche Mode and Deadmau5 ) it is fair to say that he is a man at the top of his game. Added to that, he is also a highly in-demand DJ throughout the world, famed for dark, bass fuelled sets that set the clubs on fire. However, with all this, Caspa has struggled to find the time to produce again.
However, having now pledged to return to the studio, he returns with his first release of the year, "I Beat My Robot." Complete with a jump-up, full throttled drum & bass remix of Original Sin's "Marmite," the release is strictly for the rave environment. The title track hits it hard with Caspa's trademark heavyweight sound before his remix finally removes any last hint of sanity that has managed to stay within you.

Review: Neurofunk icons Cause 4 Concern come through with a classy looking twelve for the Berlin imprint Shadybrain that's been a mainstay in the sets of Rockwell and D Bridge. It's a pleasant surprise too, as "Males Me Wonder" eschews the chance for dancefloor business in favour of something quite deep and melodic. Clever usage of vocodered vocals means they form an integral part of the rhythm along with the shuffling percussion and haunting melodies. On the flip "Chameleon" plunges further into spectral dynamics, as ghostly cries dovetail to good effect with chilling organ fills - though it's the slightly damp sounding rhythms that really impress.

Review: In the game since 2012, South London label Coyote Records have only just dropped a crucial second edition of their Coyote Kings compilation, but keep up the heat with the first release on their new Coyote White offshoot. Label regulars Chemist and OH91 both feature, taking a side each to show off their refix skills on a 12" that upholds the White Label tradition good and proper. Chemist reworks Footsie's "Prangboy" and transforms it into a grime mutation of the highest order, it's all about those sucker punch percussive hits! Complementing this, "Xtra" by Ruff Sqwad gets turned into a twilight prowler by OH91 which feels mercilessly short at 4 minutes.

Review: Beardy flat cap wearing singer Alex Clare is the latest musician to occupy the time and money of a major label, with Switch and Diplo sharing production duties on his forthcoming album - previous incumbents of this position range in the success scale from Flo & The Jaw to Claire Maguire. This twelve sees Island try and introduce Clare to the niche dance markets with remixes of "Up All Night" from the eternally Magnetic Skream and Nadastrom - with the latter at least showing the Island A&R are aware of Moonbahton. Skream's remix is typically epic sounding, laying Clare's distinct throaty drawl over a creeping industrial half step beat that you keep urging to drop - which it does satisfyingly with a vintage junglist finale. The Nadastrom remix makes more inventive usage of the vocal, letting it suck you in during the initial moments before the Dutchified reggaeton rush takes over.

Review: Absolute fire from OG Cluekid: Vinyl Vigilance have delivered something seriously special right here. Bouncing and bubbling like it's 2006 all over again, "Hiss" wobbles and warps with such a classic twang, you'll forget the last 10 years of dubstep ever happened. "Tachyon Field" continues on the same vibe but with a much darker, downward spiralling muted chainsaw bassline. Timeless jams and strictly limited - you know what to do.

Review: Last time round on his DMZ release Coki wielded an iconic Max Romeo sample amidst the signature Digital Mystikz foundation worrying flex, and this one sided 12" will be equally familiar to anyone that's shared a dancehall with Coki recently. "Duppy Soursop" is one of the producer's most treasured dubplates from the last 12 months, melding near inaudible snippets of dancehall crooner Gyptian amidst an explosive stew of kung-fu woodblock chops and Martian laser beams.

Review: DMZ stalwart Coki launches his new label Don't Get It Twisted in fine style. "Bob's Pillow" is a wonderfully bizarre affair, taking a haunted dancehall approach to the classic Coki sound and flying in some interesting spoken word samples over the top about a chap and his smoking habits. "Spooky" is more traditional in its overt dread and a prolific deployment of hefty editing and nagging sound effects for maximum hype, but still this seems to be Coki in a more experimental mode than elsewhere, promising interesting things for this label.
