Studio mixers

A studio mixer is an essential part of any hardware music setup, allowing you to combine all of your sound sources into a stereo signal. There’s a lot more to it than just summing sounds, however; a good mixer will allow you to connect any source – instruments, microphones, line-level stereo signals – and most will allow you to process the sound, applying EQ and effects before setting levels and panning sounds into your mix. Once you’ve chosen how many channels you need, you’ll find lots of more advanced features. A lot of studio mixers now include built-in digital effects as well as audio interface features, allowing you to hook the mixer up to your computer and record individual channels or the main mix. Top brands like Mackie and Yamaha produce a huge range of mixers in every size you can imagine, meaning there’s something for complete beginners as well as professionals.

1010 Music Bluebox Compact Digital Mixer & Recorder
Cat: 793767 Rel: 14 Jan 21

Compact digital mixer & recorder
Notes: A digital mixer at heart but so much more. 1010's unique take on mixing and recording includes built-in effects and EQ, compression, headphone/monitor mixes and output routing. Clever stuff.

Supplier's Notes:
Bluebox is the portable digital audio mixer that lets you get the most out of your electronic music gear. Connect your eurorack, sampler, drum machine and synthesizer outputs to 6 stereo, 3.5 mm TRS inputs and map them to 12 mono tracks or 6 stereo tracks, all with independent control for recording and playback. It's that keyboard mixer with live performance features that you always hoped someone would make.

Connect the output of your electronic music gear to Bluebox, and then route each track independently to the three outputs and effects sends. Each track offers control of volume, gain, 4 band parametric EQ, pan, mute and solo functions. Apply high-quality global reverb and delay effects along with 4 band EQ per track to add new depth to your sound with total control to quickly tweak incoming audio or track playback as needed.

With Bluebox you can record independent tracks or the Main mix using a standard microSD card. Capture your jam session for later review, or record the ultimate mix of the tracks for your song.

Bluebox's compact 5.5h x 5h x 2h case lets you tuck it into a crowded tabletop studio or throw it in your pack for the next gig.

Interact with the dynamic visual interface on the 3.5h touchscreen along with physical knobs, navigation buttons and transport buttons to quickly access the most important functions. MIDI input and output allow you to sync the clock with external gear for synchronized effects and metronome.

Add Some Colour to Your Mix:
Mix 12 mono/6 stereo tracks of live or prerecorded sound.
Independently route each track to any combination of three stereo TRS outputs:

Stereo Output 1 - Main mix
Stereo Output 2 - Assignable, with dedicated sub-mixer (pre or post fader)
Stereo Output 3 - Headphone output, with dedicated sub-mixer (pre or post fader)
Control one parameter for multiple tracks at once in Mixer mode.
Focus on one track at a time in Track mode.
Adjust the level or mute state of each output independently.
Use touch gestures or knobs to tweak your sound with four band EQ per track with support for Low Cut/Low Shelf, Parametric, and High Shelf/High Cut settings for each band.
Apply high-quality Reverb and Delay effects with independent effects sends for each track.
Override the headphone output with the Main mix on demand.
Maximize the loudness and unify your mix with the built-in global compressor
Sync to external clocks through the MIDI Input and Output.
Record hours of music as 48k, 24 bit WAVs directly to the microSD card as multi-track or as the main stereo mix.
Playback a previously recorded track while recording new ones.

Allen & Heath ZED-12FX Multipurpose Studio Mixer With FX
Cat: 431967 Rel: 17 May 12

Multipurpose mixer with FX for live sound and recording.
Notes: The ZED-12FX is ideal for groups who need to travel light. Even with its small footprint, the 12FX squeezes in 4 auxiliary channels and swept semi-parametric EQ on top of the already impressive feature set including configurable USB audio in/out makes it easy to capture stereo recordings.

Getting audio to and from a computer easily is now a common requirement for live sound and music production. The way this has been implemented on ZED-12FX is super-flexible and super-easy. No longer do you need to fiddle around the back of your PC to get to the soundcard inputs, only to find that the levels are all wrong and noisy. Just plug in a USB lead to your ZED, select the USB routing on the mixer and the device on your computer and that's it.

MUSIQ
ZED-12FX features a responsive 3-band, swept mid frequency EQ design which utilises MusiQ - with optimised slope (or Q factor) for equalising individual instruments.

ZED-12FX has an essential selection of 16 time-delay effects, designed for small groups who don't want to carry around an effects unit with their gear but who still want great quality FX at their gigs and on their recordings. Our DSP engineers worked hard, crafting and refining beautiful reverb algorithms to enhance every performance. These effects are available nowhere else at this price point - this quality and integration is only available from the ZED-FX. ZED effects are easily controlled using 3 buttons with 9 display LEDs. For example, the ideal delay time can be quickly tapped-in, or the perfect amount of reverb on the lead vocal can be dialled-in. There is one-stop navigation and editing - in fact, it's just as easy as using effects pedals. To alter effects parameters, the TAP button is held down and the up/down buttons pressed to adjust the specific parameter for that effect, for example, the decay length on PLATE, or the depth on CHORUS.

Based on the proven pre-amps from the hugely successful PA series, ZED-12FX has DuoPre pre-amps, which use a two stage design, with carefully controlled amounts of gain in each stage. When amplifying the signal from the XLR input, the gain range is huge - 69dB of range to be exact - and is very evenly distributed around the gain control, meaning better control of signal level. Most of the gain comes from the first stage, so unwanted noise is kept to a minimum. Line level signals are simply plugged into the second stage of the pre-amp by using the line input jack socket, which has the great advantage of less noise when using the line input and also matching to a
higher input impedance.

Allen & Heath ZED60-14FX Multipurpose Studio Mixer With FX
Cat: 487272 Rel: 21 May 13

Multipurpose mixer with FX for live sound and recording.
Notes: Live or in the studio, the ZED60-14FX is a compact, portable mixer that is ideal for small bands.

This mixer is a guitarist's dream. Two of the 8 mono channels have high impedance jack inputs that can take a normal line level or a low level input from a guitar pickup, so guitars can be plugged straight into the mixer without the need for DI boxes. These inputs have been crafted to recreate the sound of a classic tube preamp in a combo or head amp for incredible definition and warmth. Two stereo inputs are provided for MP3/CD players or keyboards.

The ZED60-14FX comes with a configurable USB audio in/out, making it easy to capture a stereo recording at the gig or in the studio. The mixer is also equipped with professional XLR main stereo outputs, a flexible monitoring section with headphone and speaker feed outputs and 16 stunning FX.

Most important of all, the ZED60-14FX lives up to the audio and build quality standards that have made Allen & Heath one of the most trusted names in professional audio for more than 40 years.

Getting audio to and from a computer easily is now a common requirement for live sound and music production. The way this has been implemented on ZED is super-flexible and super-easy! No longer do you need to fiddle around the back of your PC to get to the soundcard inputs, only to find that the levels are all wrong and noisy. Just plug in a USB lead to your ZED, select the USB routing on the mixer and the device on your computer and that's it! CD quality audio to and from your PC or Mac. Switches and connection through jack socket terminals provide different send/return configurations:-

SEND OPTIONS:
1) Main Mix Left + Right (Post master Level)

2) Aux + FX bus (Aux is a pre-fade send, FX is a post-fade send)

3) Record Bus Left + Right (Separate stereo bus to Main Mix)

RETURN OPTIONS:
1) To Playback input (through jack socket break contacts)

2) To Stereo 2 channel (through jack socket break contacts)

ZED60-14FX features a responsive 3-band, swept mid frequency EQ design which utilises MusiQ - with optimised slope (or Q factor) for equalising individual instruments.

ZED60-14FX has an essential selection of 16 time-delay effects, designed for small groups who don't want to carry around an effects unit with their gear but who still want great quality FX at their gigs and on their recordings. To alter effects parameters, the TAP button is held down and the up/down buttons pressed to adjust the specific parameter for that effect, for example, the decay length on PLATE, or the depth on CHORUS.

ZED60-14FX's pre-amps are similar in design to our MixWizard range of mixers, but with a twist! Inputs 7 & 8 have a high impedance jack input capable of taking either a normal line level or a low level input from a guitar pickup. These newly designed inputs have been crafted with the aim of replicating the sound of a classic guitar or instrument tube pre-amp in a combo or head amp. An extremely high input impedance ensures loading on pick-ups is minimal and a Class A FET (field effect transistor) circuit powered from 48V is employed to give the valve-like gain stage. There is a gain "Boost" switch associated with the guitar inputs which boosts gain by 26dB to cater for instruments with very low level outputs and the overdrive characteristics of the guitar inputs are very similar to a valve (tube) circuit, being asymmetric and soft. All this makes for a wonderfully natural sound to be reproduced from the instrument, full of warmth and character.

Korg SoundLink MW1608 Hybrid Analogue & Digital Mixer
Cat: 762145 Rel: 29 Jul 20

Hybrid analogue & digital mixer
Notes: 16-channel version of Korg's excellent hybrid mixer, designed in collaboration with Greg Mackie and Trident designer Peter Watts. Eight mono channels and four stereo pairs, each with single-knob compressor and musical EQ.

Supplier notes:
A mixer should not only sound good. It should be very easy to use.

Korg has collaborated with the legendary mixer design team of Greg Mackie and Peter Watts to create hybrid/analog mixing consoles that make creative mixing easy. Both the 24- and 16-channel models give you instant analog control for live mixing with stunning sound quality and more musician-friendly features than the competition - paired with the power of high-quality digital where it counts.

Use a SoundLink and you discover all the typical Greg Mackie features and ideas that are unique to SoundLink; hear your first live mix and discover why Peter Watts helped design legendary Trident consoles and then hundreds of high-end studio processors and preamps. Besides designing mixers, Greg Mackie has been mixing on them for over 40 years.

When you listen to the "White Album", Rhianna's "Rated R" and "Loud", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and literally hundreds of other familiar albums, you're listening to the legendary Trident mixing console sound. Peter Watts had an important role in Trident technology; he brings the same rich, warm preamp, EQ and dynamics quality to the products he designs today. HiVolt mic preamps give you the most headroom of any comparably-priced analog or digital mixer (16.5V internal voltage, even on stereo channels where other mixers skimp). They sound warm and musical.

It is the only small mixer that has Mute Groups. They let you instantly call up different combinations of channels for various groups on stage, different songs, sound checks, a solo acoustic number, a drum solo or different parts of a church service (choir, praise band, pastor. You get four Group options, each easily programmable and recallable.

Some musicians want to hear more of their own instrument or voice in their in-ear or floor monitor, a process that is complicated to change on other mixers. SoundLink's Musician's Phone feature provides one-knob boost of the complete left/right mix into the musician's individual track. Instead of having to change main mix settings or take up a bus, you have dedicated knobs for two musician's "more me" monitor mixes.

Instead of a generic digital effects processor chip, SoundLink mixers use a high-quality proprietary Korg custom chip that builds on all of Korg's multi-decade expertise: twenty four ultra-realistic digital effects. For example, all six reverb effects include an alternate "WARM" version- a touch veteran Korg users will tell you is very useful. Parameters of all effects can be tweaked, saved and recalled, and activated by an optional footswitch. Plus, you get test tone generators for use with the built-in 24-band Spectrum Analyzer that's another SoundLink exclusive in a mixer in this price range.

Digital processing and effects are frustrating if they're buried in some long, scrolling menu inside a menu. For EQ and other control features, and a row of individual L/R, AUX 1 and Aux 2 assign buttons for both Equalization and Dynamics makes mixing easier. SoundLink's Limiter, Compressor, Noise Gate are both effective without being harsh or exaggerated. Each has tweakable, recallable parameters. Coupled with a 31-band Spectrum Analyzer, the super-practical 31-band/9-band ParaGraphic EQ solves acoustical problems other small mixers can't handle.

Mackie Onyx 1220i 12 Channel Firewire Recording Mixer With Tracktion 3 Music Production Software + FREE 8 Way 1/4" Mono Jack Wiring Loom (3m)
Cat: 538482 Rel: 01 Jan 90

Firewire mixing desk with 12 mic/line channels - bundled wirth a free 1/4" jack wiring loom
Notes: The 12 channel Onyx 1220i delivers stunning performance in a size that is decidedly desk friendly. Premium analog features like boutique-quality Onyx mic pres, smooth 60mm channel faders and the proven tone-sculpting capability of Perkins EQ allows for performance that is unmatched in this category. The 16x2 built in FireWire interface will simultaneously deliver all 12 channels, all auxes and the master L/R signal straight to your favorite DAW with zero routing. How easy is that? You can even return a couple of channels from the DAW right back into a channel strip for mix integration. It's easy, it's professional...it's the Onyx 1220i.

The Onyx-i Series features deeper FireWire integration than any other mixer out there and offers immensely powerful routing capabilities:
- Every channel on the mixer can be routed pre or post EQ to the computer, allowing you to choose whether to implement 'EQ to tape' or not.
- All aux sends are routable to the computer, allowing you to utilize your computer as a powerful FX engine by implementing your favorite plug-ins in a live scenario.
- Master L/R is routable to the computer for recording your analog mix. Burn and sell CDs of the mix at the end of the gig!
- Stereo return from the computer can be routed to either the control room for instant monitoring or to a stereo channel for mix integration.
- Having a "real" mixer has its benefits. Latency-free overdubs are simple since you are using an analog mixer. No more wasted time dealing with the complicated "DSP" mixers commonly used on standalone interfaces.

The 1220i delivers seamless, routing free FireWire connection to your favorite DAW. All channels, auxes and (of course) the master L/R are simultaneously available to your DAW, with zero routing. The Onyx-i FireWire connection has amazing bandwidth, and the 1220i takes full advantage.

When it comes to the high pressure environment of a recording session or live performance, you simply cannot beat the stability and reliability of an analog mixer. With features honed over 20 years of design by some of the legends in the industry, the Onyx-i Series mixers are simply the best sounding full-featured analog mixing boards available to the modern sound engineer.

The 1220i has a plethora of analog features that are sure to please. First off, there are four Onyx mic preamps which have been proven as some of the best boutique quality preamps available today. That is, without having to remortgage your house in order to pay for all the inputs you need. Then there's the Perkins EQ, which offers highly musical Q filter without sacrificing the precise control that Mackie EQs are known for. Four mono mic/line channels feature 3-band Perkins EQ with a sweepable mid and the additional stereo line channels have 3-band EQ. So, regardless of the type of signal you need to input, there is sure to be a channel with the right EQ for the application. Other analog tools include two aux sends with pre/post fader assignment, allowing for monitor mixes, effects loops or additional headphone mixes. There are built-in DIs on the first two channels for direct connection of guitars or bass and a dedicated talkback section with a built-in mic that lets you easily communicate with band members while on stage or recording. With all these proven, great-sounding analog features, it is easier than ever to create a memorable mix.

Mackie Onyx16 16-Channel Analogue USB Studio Mixer
Cat: 785663 Rel: 27 Oct 22

16-channel analogue USB studio mixer
Notes: Analogue mixer with digital flexibility. 16 channels with Mackie's Onyx preamps, vintage-style EQ and full multi-track output over USB.

Supplier's Notes:
Flawless sound and maximum control

Record, produce and perform with a 16-channel mixer that offers remarkable performance, exceptional versatility and a wide host of features that will ignite your creativity. Every detail of the Mackie Onyx16 is geared towards recording at a professional level, from the award-winning Onyx preamps to the Perkins "British Style" EQs inspired by classic desks from the '60s and '70s.

Onyx Mic preamps

Record ultra-clean, transparent sound with incredible accuracy. The award-winning Onyx Mic Preamps are designed for maximum studio-quality performance. Create podcasts, live stream gameplay, or produce the next hit.

Perkins EQ

Onyx mixers feature an enhanced 3-Band "British Style" EQ based on the same circuit used on classic mixing consoles from the '60s and '70s. This version designed by Mackie has greater filter control, minimum phase shift and allows you to pinpoint specific frequency ranges.

To create the Perkins EQ, Cal Perkins started with the Wien Bridge circuit topology inspired by the hallowed "British" desks of the '60s and '70s. This design essentially trades boost/cut capability for a wider, highly musical Q filter. After a mind-numbing amount of math, Cal was able to specify capacitor and resistor values that would give the EQ an extra 6dB of control (i15 dB) without excessively narrowing the "Q" or bandwidth of the filters.

Built-in FX

We don't want to have to imagine a world without effects, which is why they were built into the Mackie Onyx16. Dive through a deep collection of reverb, chorus, delay and more. Access a digital library of customizable digital effects that you can quickly save and recall during studio sessions or band rehearsal. Spend less time menu-diving and more time making music.

Studio command

There's nothing like feeling in control of your workstation. Mackie Onyx16 mixers feature powerful full-colour LCDs with dedicated physical transport controls. Apply FX and recall up to six customizable presets using an intuitive single-knob interface. Record a stereo mix, browse files and play music direct to/from an SD card, all via Studio Command.

Bluetooth streaming

Bluetooth is a gamechanger on an analogue mixer. Pair a compatible device via Bluetooth to stream audio through aux sends or the main mix. Bluetooth compatibility allows you to compare mix reference tracks or play background music when you need it.

A light in the dark

Nobody likes squinting at a mixing board when the lighting is dim. Mackie Onyx16 mixers are equipped with vibrant buttons and full colour display for improved visibility, even in the darkest venues. On top of that, the backlit Mute and Solo buttons provide clear visibility so you'll always know what's going on in the mix.

Waveform OEM DAW

Waveform OEM is a multi award-winning workstation, featuring powerful and creative tools to inspire the modern musician. Unlike typical 'Lite' versions, it does not impose any restrictions - you get unlimited track count, powerful features, compatibility with all popular plug-ins and efficient performance on MacOS r, Windowsr, and Linux r operating systems.

With a USB-C compatible connection, your StudioLive AR16c is ready to use as an audio interface for nearly any computer.

The channel that does it all - even Bluetooth connectivity:

The unique Super Channel can handle four stereo sources at once and makes it easy to integrate consumer devices into your studio workflow. Connect a turntable to the RCA inputs, use the 1/8-inch stereo input to plug-in your smartphone, or forget the cable and connect it via Bluetooth wireless technology. You can also toggle between a stereo playback stream from your computer and playback from the onboard SD recorder, making rehearsal a snap.

A complete recording solution for studio and stage:

The StudioLive AR16c audio interface and analogue mixer is tightly integrated with state-of-the-art recording software to help you realize your creative vision. Record multitrack live performances with one click thanks to PreSonus' Capture live-recording software. Create complete studio productions with our award-winning Studio One Artist DAW. With two professional recording applications included with your StudioLive AR16c, you're ready to record right out of the box.

Stereo recording without a computer:

Imagine you're rehearsing with your band and want to record your session to analyse later. Or perhaps you're in the middle of a songwriting session and want to capture your ideas as quickly as they come to you. Either way, the StudioLive AR16c's stereo SD recorder has you covered. Insert any SD/SDHC card and you're ready to record your main mix to listen to later, so you'll never forget a great song idea or an amazing guitar solo. Doing mobile interviews for your podcast? Leave the computer at home and record straight to SD.

Effects without latency:

Monitoring with reverb and delay helps to create better recordings. Any vocalist or guitarist will tell you that a little reverb makes them feel more comfortable while performing. The StudioLive AR16c mixer's onboard effects processor lets you add high-quality reverb, delay, or chorus to any channel for a professional monitor mix. Like what you hear in your headphones? Record the Main Mix and capture the effects mix, too - with or without the dry channels - to blend with your multitrack recording. Experiment in post-production to your heart's content.

All the connections you need with a familiar look:

Packed with all the connections and controls needed to mix and record in the studio and on the stage, the StudioLive AR16c is the ultimate recording solution. The eight mono channels and four stereo channels include a musical three-band EQ, plus one of PreSonus' famed XMAX high-gain mic preamps. Two dedicated monitor mixes with balanced outputs provide your musicians the custom mix they need. The USB-C compatible connector ensures your StudioLive AR16c audio interface will be the centre of your studio for years to come. And with high-resolution 96 kHz recording, a full complement of connections, and an instantly familiar workflow, the StudioLive AR16c is the perfect recording and mixing solution for the modern musician and content creator.

Yamaha MG16XU 16-Channel Studio Mixer With SPX Effects & USB Audio Interface With Cubase AI
Cat: 519646 Rel: 23 May 14

16 channel analog mixing desk with effects and bundled audio production software, rackmount kit included
Notes: For a more precise control and enhancement of your sound, XU models of the MG Series come equipped with a suite of Yamaha's renowned SPX effects. Featuring high-resolution Chorus, Flanger, Distortions, Reverb and Delay, all with editable parameters, these are the same multi-effects processors used on Yamaha's high-end mixing consoles, giving you the tools you need to elevate your mixes to a higher plane.

For more than a century, Yamaha has been building a legacy of superior craftsmanship and innovation exemplified in all of our products, from an unrivalled catalogue of world-class musical instruments to touring-grade professional audio. Now in its third incarnation, the MG Series embodies this pursuit of design excellence, and incorporates some of the same technologies developed for use in high-end professional consoles, including studio-quality preamps, powerful digital processing, and a rugged, reliable construction. With an intuitive, easy-to-use interface, the MG Series boasts an extensive line-up of compact mixing consoles with models ranging from six to twenty channels, suitable for a diverse range of users and applications. For installed, recording, or live music settings, the solid construction and flexible design of these consoles lets you shape your sound with confidence, continually delivering peak performance and a level of sound quality and reliability unrivalled in its class.

Yamaha has always strived to provide sound engineers with the purest possible signal instead of added processing or colour to give it a "signature" sound, and the MG Series is no exception. Embracing this philosophy of transparent sound, these mixing consoles deliver a level of sonic purity and sound quality that is unmatched in their class.

The preamps are where it all starts. Everything you do as a sound engineer is dependent on the quality of your preamps, which determines the direction your mix will take, and ultimately how good it is going to sound. MG Series mixing consoles feature Yamaha's studio-grade discrete class-A D-PRE preamps, which utilize an inverted Darlington circuit comprising two cascading transistors in a configuration that provides more power with lower impedance. Delivering fat, natural sounding bass and smooth, soaring highs, with very low distortion, D-PRE preamps possess an impressively wide frequency range that allow them to handle signal from any audio source without overly amplifying any specific elements of the sound. Having such a pure sonic platform to build on will ultimately save you time and effort by eliminating the need for excessive EQing or additional effects processing in order to "fix" your mix.

The head amp determines sound quality, and op-amp integrated circuits are one of the most important parts in the head amp circuit. MG Series mixers feature new, high-quality, custom made MG01 op-amps that we developed in cooperation with the semiconductor manufacturer. Although many other Op-amps prioritize electrical design and efficiency, we worked directly with the semiconductor manufacturer to focus on sound quality first. MG01 op-amps feature redesigned circuitry in which even the internal components and wiring have been optimized, and use materials such as high-quality silicon wafers and copper wire to achieve superb resolution.

With phantom power, MG Series consoles allow you to take full advantage of the greater frequency response and high sound quality of condenser microphones. The input channel with PAD switch accepts MIC to line level of inputs, PAD Switch attenuates high input signals that often accompany miked instruments during performance, avoiding the clipping that can seriously affect your mix.

When was the last time you heard guitar without EQ or a completely unprocessed vocal on one of your favourite songs? Probably never. Yamaha mixers are famous for their flat response and sonic purity, but it often takes more than a perfectly-captured instrumental performance or vocal to achieve a professional-sounding mix. Equipped with some of the same state-of-the-art functionality featured on Yamaha's high-end consoles, the MG Series gives you the tools you need to produce high quality sound that is uniquely your own.

MG XU models are bundled with Downloadable Steinberg's Cubase AI software. As one of the most advanced, comprehensive DAW suites available, Steinberg's Cubase has led the charge, providing users with a powerful and flexible platform for music production. Cubase AI offers these same core technologies and interface that have won Cubase worldwide acclaim.

Yamaha MG20XU Mixer With Cubase AI Audio Editing Software
Cat: 519650 Rel: 12 May 14

20 channel analog mixing desk with effects - bundled with Cubase AI recording software
Notes: The new Yamaha MG20XU USB mixing desk has a full array of features for the professional band or music producer. Boasting 20 channels, a group of 24 effects, internal USB interface and 2 bus groups, this Yamaha mixer has everything you could need. Featuring faders instead of knobs of other versions, this MG20XU is more visual and easier to control. The included Cubase AI software also enables studio production straight out of the box.

The Yamaha MG Series of mixers feature a design and construction that will handle the standard wear and tear of the active musician. Featuring the steel chassis that is impact resistant and powder coated, this mixer will take any bumps and scratches without it getting damaged or looking old. The sleek design does not compromise any part of the finished product. A state of the art design allows for convection cooling, meaning your power unit will not overheat your unit after continuous use. Separating the power supply from the analog circuitry inside the mixer allows for near silent background noise, allowing for a serious and high quality output sound. As well as this, the knob placement has been put above the chassis of the console, thus not damaging circuitry underneath should the device ever be dropped or mishandled.

Rather than the standard MG Series mixers, a select number of mixers also feature the XU functions. This includes a built in USB interface, which allows a stereo output to be sent straight from the mixer and can be plugged in to any computer or laptop ready for recording. The bonus with this Yamaha mixer is the USB In feature, which allows one of the stereo tracks to be used in order to playback any recording through the mixer once recorded. This is a great tool for those who want to plug all their equipment in through one desk. On top of that, recording is possible straight away with the included version of Cubase AI. Lastly, the XU range of MG mixers has an in built SPX range of digital effects ranging from reverbs to phasers and pitch shifting.
