"When 101 Apparel asked me for a mix, I thought I wanted to do something different and picked the theme of Escapism after selecting the first few tracks which had some kind of 'ambient' vibe. That's what inspired me when I was making the mix, and here you can find a collection of some of my favorite young talented musicians." - ONRA

With an eclectic arsenal of samples and an ear for international sounds, Onra (born Arnaud Bernard) is a beatmaker based out of Paris, France. Reminiscent of crate-diggers like Madlib and DJ Shadow, Onra pep- pers his beats with exotic sounds from Vietnam and India, giving his sound an international flair. The French producer released his debut album, Tribute, in 2006 on Bo Bun Records, then followed up the next year with the critically acclaimed Chinoiseries, which was released on both Favorite Recordings (LP) and Bo Bun (CD). Continuing to stay pro- ductive, Onra released 1.0.8 in 2009 on Bo Bun before switching to All City Records in 2010 for the release of Long Distance. In 2011, the beat- maker released Chinoiseries, Vol. 2., 2015 he released the "Fundamen- tals album on All City.

(MdCL) is one of the most innovative producers and live performers you will find anywhere.

Anchored by the duality of his Japanese and New Zealander parentage and ignited by a love of playing piano at the age of four, it is no wonder this multi-national phenom has seen his explosive natural gifts blaze across the globe from NZ to the US, UK, Europe, Asia, Cuba and South Africa. Whether you call him artist, producer, composer, pianist, performer, DJ, or selecta, titles are impartial to Mark de Clive-Lowe (MdCL). Many try to classify this impressively fertile music journey, yet to identify with only one label belies the heavy scope of the ride. The piano set the course, the keyboard is the vehicle, and with the drum machine as the fuel, the relentless skill of MdCL is underscored by a rare sonic sensibility. He's an accomplished musician, originally sowing his oats in straight-ahead jazz, before taking the music far beyond.

A devastating live performer, the MdCL experience is marked by impromptu studio production created on stage from scratch, using drum machines, keyboards and effects. The end result: live remixes birthed on stage for each and every gig. With bold chops like this, to call him "prolific" is an understatement, having contributed to over 250 releases and being a first-call collaborator for a wide range of artists, including Jill Scott, Jody Watley, Leon Ware (Marvin Gaye/Michael Jackson/Maxwell), DJ Spinna, Sandra St. Victor (The Family Stand/Chaka Khan), amongst a slew of others.

Based in LA for the past 7 years after a decade entrenched in the cultural epicenter of London's broken beat scene, MdCL leads his live band with his party CHURCH (also the name of his latest album); performs solo live electronic sets for the dancefloor; educates with masterclasses and workshops; and collaborates with a broad range of artists and creatives.
Melding the beat-making and technology with musicianship and tradition, MdCL's potential is beyond convention. He's one who takes it all on the road like no one else, with a solid fan base that bridges cities as far reaching as LA, NYC, Atlanta, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Tokyo and Sydney.

GB BIO:

Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker is a composer and sound artist who is best known for his electronic works of widely varying styles. He has released records through his own label, Gifted & Blessed, as well as with several others including Wild Oats, Eglo, All City and Sound In Color.

In his late teens, Gabriel began releasing records using his GB moniker. These recordings are considered to be an important link in the beginnings of the Los Angeles beat movement, which was fueled largely in its inception by the work of GB and several other artists then releasing music with the Sound In Color label in Los Angeles. After releasing a critically-acclaimed first album, Soundtrack for Sunrise (2004), Gabe grew restless with his approach to music and decided to explore different realms of sound and to revisit aspects of creating sound which he had only gleaned by then. The next few years were a period of intense study for Gabe, mainly in the areas of MIDI composition and analog synthesis. This is reflekted in the works he has released since, which range often drastically in style and exhibit the breadth of his learning process. He calls these varying sounds by the umbrella term "technoindigenous studies," a bridging of the technological with the ancestral in his music.

He is most known in the dance music community for the records he has released under his monikers GB, Gifted & Blessed, and The Abstract Eye, as each of which has released several records that have somewhat become cult classics. Check his discography.

Gabe has done collaborative work as producer, remixer and musician with a wide host of artists, ranging from Flora Purim and Airto to Spacek, J*DaVeY, Little Dragon, Baatin and many others.

In live performance, Gabe has been known to demonstrate a wide variety of processes with his full analog synthesizer and drum machine rig. At times he has been known to host sound meditations. Other times he's known for his unique recreations of his own dancefloor pieces, something like a recital at which one cannot help but to move with the music and go within. He's also been known to play DJ sets of his own works (often unreleased and lesser known pieces) for people in clubs around Europe, North America and the Caribbean.
