Following the heavyweight 'Dreadnox' on 'AKOizm Vol 4' last year, each of these tracks reveals a different side to this brutalist quack; 'Sound Lord' is pure 3am slammage, all bulldozer breaks and such, 'Eden's Rise' is a breezy pad-heavy goosebump bonanza while the title track 'The Artistic Truth' flips things with much more of a jazzy, abstract twist. Review: Since he first landed on our radar via Vivid a few years back, Yosh has dished out enough high grade garage and breakbeat gear to fuel the scene on his own. Not only a prolific producer, he's also got a razor sharp flair which edges him in front of a crowded scene, and now he's back to Vivid to show us exactly what he's about with a 12-track double-pack, his biggest release to date. In one sense you should know exactly what to expect - elevated steppers and deft rollers, but the fundamental appeal of Yosh is all those ear-snagging traits which make his tracks sparkle, and you never know what they're going to be until the needle's tracking in that groove. Now you can enjoy that sensation 12 times over - a good deal if ever we saw one.

Review: Workforce is a solo project from Jack Stevens, best known as one half of crisp modern D&B masters Spectrasoul. Following the runaway success of the Late Night Soundtrack series and drops on Exit, 1985 Music and Critical, Stevens is back on Must Make Music with a new album of finely sculpted rollers shot through with melancholic moods. Madi Lane sets the tone with her heartfelt vocal on 'Death Dreams' while the snatches of singing on 'Broken' equally casts the record in a meditative space. This is soundsystem music for heavy hearted headphone trips as much as the club, but the likes of 'Flight Instructions' have more than enough heft to shake the crowd up good n' proper.

Review: Welsh warrior Quartz continues his great run of form as he follows his recent Rupture EP with this megalithic four-pack on Mako's Utopia. 'Krokodil' snaps us into reality with a fittingly dystopic setting with urgent vocal stabs and glacial breaks, 'Gateway' takes us on a breezier mission while 'Rituals' is all about those chubby rounded bass/kick fluctuations and sinewy stabs; minimal in make-up, maximum in force. Finally the title track closes off this bleak, chaotic serenade with some outrageous drumfunk choppage. Serious jungle business for 2022; life ain't always rosy... it can be very thorny too.

Review: The Okbron label is at the heart of the modern drum & bass landscape and puts out a steady stream of high quality music to keep itself there. This latest drop from Axis is sweet one that will sound all the better in summer. Opener 'Ill Mansion Jazz' is as silky as they come, with plunging bass, shimmering synths and melancholic chords over dusty high speed breaks. On the flipside is the jazzy late night vibe of 'Barumba Nights' with its double bass and mysterious sax leads. Super classy stuff.

Now they're back to help toast 25 years of Goldie's inimitable imprint, and they're doing so with a new track entitled 'Bird' which carries on the thread of dynamic, modernist D&B they presented on their LP four years ago. On the flip comes a long-awaited treat as their track 'Madness', originally released on Platinum Breakz 4 in 2014, gets remastered and cut onto wax for the first time. Review: Finally... The vinyl has landed! Released way back in the summer digitally, Lenzman's The North Quarter are now able to drop the 12" of Zero T's dark and sleazy 'Off Broadway' EP. Focusing on those tense and spacious jazzy samples that characterised drum & bass in the mid-90s (think Peshay, think Photek), tracks like 'Drama', 'Fortune Green' and 'Off Broadway' hit with that timeless, gritty, burnt soul vibe while cuts like 'This Condition' and KILLSWSH's remix of 'She Moves' flex with more of a contemporary vibe. Review: Dutch jungle connoisseur Coco Brice has mastered just about every style and sub style over the years. He has a meticulous sound that makes every sound pristine and fully deserving of its place in the mix. The a-side on his new one for 3am Eternal is a mix of brutal, physical drum work and heavenly melody that tugs you in two directions at once on 'Cloud Busting.' It's epic, meaningful and unmissable. On the reverse, thongs are a little more stripped back and a more rolling break tumbles endlessly towards. More lush keys and melodies light it up, with plenty of deft effects and a spine tingling breakdown taking you into the next dimension.

The A-side highlight is undoubtedly DJ Pulse's terrifically spacey drum & bass revision of '2Wicky', though the heavy trip-hop psychedelia of the 'Not So Extended Hoovering' version is also surprisingly good.
