Review: Techno troubadour Yan Cook has a fine discography on some of the most respected labels out there. Now he heads to Ukraine's Cooked, a young but perfectly formed imprint, and kicks off his EP with 'Blades,' which is all melon twisted synths and driving techno kicks. 'Whistleblower' then slips into a deeply atmospheric groove with gurgling bass and watery effects and 'Grom' is all about the swing in the drums. Gritty textures and insistent claps add to the thrill of it all and 'Skyhigh' is a more frosty dub techno cut that leaves out breathless.
Review: Following up last year's Time And Nothingness on Charlotte De Witte's KNTXT, Francesco Pierfelici aka Alignment returns to the imprint for an absolutely riveting new EP. Power is a fitting title for this massive four tracker, where the Berlin-based Italian wastes no time in an attempt to fire the synapses. Pure elevation is to be experienced on the euphoric rave energy of the title track which opens up in a big way, followed by 'Disconnection' which will pummel you into submission - peak time style - with its assortment of classic dance music motifs throughout. Over on the flip, the EP's highlight exists in the form of the euphoric modern trance reconstruction titled 'Frequency'.

Review: BRVTAL is a Budapest-based music label, event and podcast series. Co-founded by Zsofia Cseve, AGA2L and Max Sinclair with resident DJ NVKP. Their label's fourth missive features Berlin by-way-of Bogota's Brayan Valenzuela unleashing two fierce cuts on side A: the menacing peak time fury of 'Water Is Wet Baby' followed by the equally as powerful dancefloor detonator 'My Sugar Daddy Is In London' full of classic rave tropes. On the flip, Cologne's Rezystor takes over with another couple of contributions and it's all about the strobe-lit trance-infused euphoria of 'Interdimensional Skirmisher'.
Review: Ascendant Berlin duo Blame The Mono return with their latest outing on French label Molekul titled 'Riot Toys'. There's no holds barred on this hard techno onslaught: the adrenalised energy of opening cut 'Gazellehorden' (feat HerrClem) fires up the engine in style, followed by the hyperaware energy of 'Switch The Pilot' and its jacked-up big-beat influence which also lunges straight for the jugular. Over on the flip, 'Funk Herald' will keep you tripping out under the strobelight, plus one more peak time banger to hammer the message home in the form of 'Bad Disco' which will keep the heads down on the dancefloor.
Review: Jacidorex is a techno producer who has been active on the scene since the mid-noughties and known for his signature acid-infused sound. He has released numerous EPs and albums over the years on various labels including Acid Night, Obs.Cur, and Smashead Records and is back with another album - UNFACED01. This one sees the Belgian DJ/producer pushing the boundaries of the genre even further, with his signature brand of dynamic hypnotic acid patterns. It begins with a cinematic introduction before opening into a hip-hop track, which then swiftly transitions into electro, industrial and trance influences throughout.
Review: This is the first full-length LP from DJ and producer Tripped, known for his hard, fast, raw experimental techno style. Despite having released his own music since 2004 - mainly on labels such as Industrial Strength, Motormouth Recordz, and PRSPCT - Tripped may never have worked himself this hard. On 'A Thing About Something', he stretches the foundation of genres like hardcore techno, breakcore, gabber and schranz into entirely new reconstitutions. Strange hardstyle kick armaggedons, serene breakbeat floaters turned creepy and pressurized chambers of claustrophobic doom ensue in an overall whirlwind of pure mayhem.

Review: Faut Section's Perception Series is back with a second sizzling installment of freshly made techno. Lewis Fautzi & Norbak pair off to open up with 'Code Of Deception', a barreling cut with icy hi hats and taught bass twangs full of dusty factory floor menace. Oscar Mulero offers one of his signature loop-techno rollers in 'Zw System' Temudo then rattles walls with the mysterious bass rumbles of 'Niiv'. Completing what is an EP that is as varied as it is vital is Kessell with the dubby broken techno beats of 'Time Domain' which has fizzing synths cracking like static on a 90s TV screen.
Review: Nantes-based Willy Taconne is Creeds, a producer having an absolute blast operating in the crossover between psy-trance and hard dance. Rave Alert are the latest label to carry his work, and those craving the nastiest slammers for their bosh-off are going to be very pleased indeed. First up, 'Push Up' bursts with playful inventiveness, chopping between ear-snagging hi-jinks from acid licks to disco cuts, plenty of hyphy trance synths and loads more besides. 'Slap The Bassline' is a much dirtier affair with an absolute juggernaut of an acid bassline which will absolutely level the place. 'Stolen Memories' has a hard trance leaning, teasing the tension between peaks and troughs for everyone to lose their marbles good and proper, leaving it to 'Get Your Mom Down' to clean up the mess with some arch anthem material to trigger the ravers of yesteryear.

Review: AcidLab serves up more innovative findings from their hard techno research operations courtesy of an array of uncompromising talents on this new various artists release. Acid Steve kicks off with 'Working In An Acid Lab', a straight-ahead banger with bristling percussive loops and slamming drums. Chris Liberator & Sterling Moss & Athar then combine forces to fire futuristic acid techno out of a machine gun and across the dancefloor and BadBoyPete vs Shnootz's 'Tekno Sound' is amped up and urgent drum funk. Noise Frequency then shuts down with dark distortion in 'Lost Humanity.' This is only a second drop from this new young label but one that again establishes it as a vital imprint.
Review: AcidLab is back with a fourth dose of medicine and this one comes on translucent red vinyl with various different artists behind the beats. Musikaddikt's 'Acid War' is a straight-up techno banger with oversized hi-hats. Tassid & Eski offer up the best named tack of the year with 'Ok You Cunts' which is raved-up hard techno, Acidrats & Skandal get even more wild and unhinged with their barrage of wind-up melodies and hard-edge and flat-footed beats on 'Massive Murder' and last of all comes Crime with 'Knife Blast which is a big distorted wall of white knuckle rave-techno, not for the faint-hearted.
Review: For its 30th release, Persephonic Sirens has this arresting new album from Codex Empire across four sides of vinyl. It explores a brave new techno world where dystopian nightmares collide with club-ready grooves and textural synth work defines each track. 'With Fire I Carve' is a blistering sound with nervy, edgy synth tension, 'Alsatia The Lower' is a hard techno monster with screwy synths and flat-footed drums and 'Transient Phantom' is a tunnelling sound with stark sound designs and an atmosphere that is pregnant with darkness and unease.
Review: The Subdermic aka Lilly Phoenix is a Cambridge-based electronic artist who made her debut in 2010 with the acclaimed anthem 'Electric Cabaret.' Since then, she has released a diverse array of techno, electro, acid and abstract ambient sounds. Now, as part of the 'Limited As Fuck' series on this independent Scottish techno label she offers up her first strictly acid release and The Subdermic's first solo vinyl. The four-track EP is packed with relentless acid, with the first two tracks delivering high-energy intensity, while the third offers an acid-jack overdose. The release concludes with 'Cruel Diagonals' with its mesmerising vocals that elevate the experience.
