Review: Veteran producers Posthuman (cousins Richard Bevan and Joshua Doherty) own and run UK label Balkan Vinyl and it has a strong resume of releasing excellent IDM and electro since its first release in 2010. For this release they call upon a legendary friend Luke Vibert and together they've make a staggeringly great, joint EP. 'Still In Love' kicks off the record and brings Luke's familiar acid techniques to the party while sampling classic 80s and 90s dance tracks and samples within it. 'Android Webber' is quintessential sound Vibert is known for that balances a quirky IDM grit and a downtempo slow jam. For the B-Side, Posthuman offers the futuristic electro stormer 'Grad' followed by the sexy, slow burner 'Forever Circles'. A match made in acid house heaven.

Review: Michael Gray brings his famously soulful sound to this new release on Sultra and it very much taps into a timeless vibe and old school disco feel. The grooves are nice and loose, the percussion is organic and fresh and the vocals, which re-sing a real classic, solar to the heavens next to mid tempo beats. After the A-side extended mix featuring Kimberly Brown & The Sultra Gospel Singers comes 'Never Let You Down' (feat Anthony Poteat & LaMay - extended mix). This one is a little deeper, quicker and funky, but is no less impassioned with its live vocals and lush synth work all bringing the good time vibes.

Review: Contemporary tastemakers Geilgling return with a set of remixes of material from Leafar Legov's recent album, Mirror. First up it is German minimal maestro Isolee who flips 'Fade' into some of his signature sounds - smeared synths and abstract designs all weave together over a minimal beat to make for something seductive and late night. Polish loop master Jan Jelinek then flips 'Fade' into a slow motion shuffle with bright, celestial shards of melodic light and downbeat, melancholic vocals over a chugging beat. Last of all is a mix of 'Jing' that is all broken loops, chopped vocal fragments and hallucinogenic synths.

Review: Some 29 years after it first hit record stores, Nick Holder's sought-after Fruit Loops EP returns in remastered and reissued form. The long-serving Canadian was already four years into his career - and many 12" singles deep - when he delivered the four-tracker, which offers a funky and seductive take on deep house rich in disco and boogie samples. Check first the Chic-sampling disco house roll of 'Dance, Dance, Dance', before moving into the more complex (but not less attractive) 'Keep On Running'. 'The Message Is Love' does a brilliant job in turning choice loops and samples from MFSB's 'Love Is A Message' into heady house gold, while 'Clap Your Hands' makes merry with the stomping brilliance of Hamilton Bohannon's most famous tune ('Let's Start The Dance').

His signature sound is all about cuddly, dusty drums with deft little melodies, horns or gospel samples that lodge in your mind while you move to his compelling grooves. Review: Bassex Records emerged as a niche haven for electronica enthusiasts in the mid-90s, championing and, more importantly, blending genres like trance, breaks, acid and techno, the label's initial influence remained confined to the West Coast. However, as trancey breakbeats gained traction in Europe over the past 15 years, Bassex has ascended to cult status. The 12" is limited to 300 copies and for our money features some of the best cosmic disco and analogue drum grooves we've heard in a while. Of all the highlights, the opening Cosmic Freestyle is the one we love most.

Review: Forax label head Diego Krause is back on his own imprint with a heavyweight new EP that is destined to be of great use to DJs looking to make an impact. It kicks off with 'Point Of No Return' which packs a low-end punch but not at the expense of some great details up top including sci-fi synth work and languid chords that bring the colour. 'Horizons' then keeps it funky with some swirling, filtered pads and percussive tech beats that are bouncy and fresh. Review: Open Secret is a brand new label and production alias that kicks off here with four unnamed tracks. Whoever is behind this clearly wants to remain in the shadows but the music is going to make a splash amongst deep house heads who will no doubt be keen to work out who could be responsible. The opening is wrought in tension with screeching synths over rockety beats all convening some sort of intergalactic drama. 'Track 2' layers up old school 8-bit video game melodies and mid-tempo drums and 'Track 3' then brings Afro vocals, rhythms and percussion to the party. Last of all, 'Track 4' is a zoned-out and multi-layered track with acoustic strings and shimmering organic rhythms that will lock you into a trance.

Review: Wiremu popped up back in 2018 on Pathway Traxx, and now the wriggly minimal upstart is back with another crafty workout for those who like their stripped-down club gear a bit on the wonky side. 'The Subtle Hustle' has a springy, playful funkiness which calls to mind the mid-00s era of labels like Trimsound and Minibar, where there was space for a little jazziness in the miniscule samples darting around the drums. Review: Montreal outfit Flabbergast tap into something brilliantly leftfield on this new EP for Adams Bite. Opener 'Peppermint Poodle' is a grubby and bubbly minimal tech house cut that is defined by a characterful Northern voice speaking about a love interest and various other things. It's wonderfully weird and sure to get anthem status soon. Review: Spaced Repetitions is a new label by veteran producer Manuel Tur who has always been known for his deliciously deep sound. For the imprint's fourth outing, he serves up two versions of a tune by Ingrid Lukas taken from last year's album ELUMELOODIA. The Estonian-Swiss singer, pianist and composer's angelic vocals remain in place up top as the dubby drums roll down low and all manner of icy synths and gassy melodic tinkles pepper the groove and get you into a celestial state of mind. The dub version allows that to come to the fore even more.

Review: Gidge has been at the heart of the Atomnation sound for a while and now the duo reinforces that status with a new EP that again explores the bratty of bittersweet musical landscapes. 'Gausta' kicks off with some plaintive, heartbreaking chords and heavy rhythms and organic touches, while 'Grit' has acoustic strings and moody chords. 'The Fells' picks up the mood a little with a subtle sense of hope in the drums and sensitivity in the strings. 'Bleak' has another brilliantly forlorn vibe with indie and electronica meeting somewhere in the middle and last of all is the painterly synth mastery of 'Whiteout'.

A Maytra Roller edit kicks off with some lush broken beats and empowering vocals, then Close Counters remixes 'Brighter Star' with piano-laced energy. Elsewhere is the sublime seven-minute opus from Zeitgeist/Goodmood Sex & Candy who flip 'Acceptance' into a gloriously passionate house classic.

Review: Swedish label Cataleya Music returns with a second fine offering, this time from Zephan and featuring Cool Affair. First up is the excellent 'Let Me Show You' which brings plenty of live percussion and jumbled, loose drums to the fore. Shakers, hand camps and Barry White-style baritone vocal seduction adds further that to this more organic of late night sounds. On the flip is a remix from the one and only DJ Spinna whose Galactic Soul remix is more steamy and humid with warm chords and a more romantic vocal sound paired with gentle broken but still deep beats.

Review: Oblivium's third vinyl outing finds Carlo Di Roma laying out some meticulously designed minimal sounds for those who like deep cosmic trips. For us, the fluttering tin foil snares and pulsing synths aired with paddy drums on the A1 really takes some beating - its both deft and subtly craft but sure to lock you in for as it grocers along with a great sense of cool. Elsewhere 'Oblivium' is a dubby and acid laced bubbler, then 'Big Fuking Surprise' gets two remixes - the first from Chktle is a nice deep house rework with splashy hi hats and cuddly drums and the second from Franco Cinelli is more driven.

Review: Newcomers Shadow Pressings lift the lid on their vinyl releasing schedule with a debutante's bang, welcoming a first four-track EP release crafted by none other than an artist taking the label's name. Taking after Chicago and garage house, A-siders 'The Messiah' and 'It Started In Chicago' impress with their full-bodied reveries and beeping repetitions, but neither match the transcendent stringwork, chord progressive poignancies and vocal samply ingenuity of the B1 'How Does It Feel', sure, by our word, to become a modern classic. 'Changes' closes on an indeterminate progressive mood, bridging the gap between styles in a way we don't think we've heard before.

Review: Angatu is a new label out of Brazil that uses the occasion of its first release to shine a light on plenty of next gen talents going from the South American hotbed. Word is that Claus Voigtmann and tINI have already been rocking joints of this EP so you may well be familiar with them. Minority Retort opens up with a slinky and futuristic pair of tech house tunes that are sure to get the seasoned duo plenty of attention over here in Europe soon. Review: There's an argument to suggest that Boris Dlugosch and Michi Lange's 'Musical' remix of Moloko's 'Sing It Back' is one of the greatest reworks of all time. Initially released in the UK in 1998 and reissued due to popular demand the following year, the nine-minute workout saw the pair turn a quirky jazz-funk number into a gloriously colourful fusion of live disco instrumentation and radio-friendly sing-along house. This reissue 12" - a reproduction of a US promo from the late 90s - naturally places it on side A. Over on the flip, we get two other lesser-celebrated takes from the time: a glitchy, wonky, mind-mangling 'Tasteful' deep house dub courtesy of Matthew Herbert, and a bouncy, jazzy and bass-heavy house take from NYC legend Todd Terry.

Review: BQD Trax's 404th EP pairs two veterans off on the same 12". Phil Evans and Dana Ruh take one side each of this nice analogue offering. Evans goes first with 'In Time' which is coated in nice dusty pads and frayed medic edges with a grinding melody that brings some funk to the deepness. 'I'm Down' is another rugged deep house cut with loose kick patterns and swirling pads. Ruh then brings her signature smoky basement house sounds to 'S41' with its rickety percussion and warm infusing of supple synths. 'S45' shuts down with dubbed-out drums and molten chords that serve as a perfect early evening warm-up.

Review: Mosaic main man and peerless UK dub techno titan Steve O'Sullivan has paired off against Fletcher for this latest heavyweight 12". As ever the foundations are solid on the opener 'Passenger' - smooth drums and bass perfectly sit with one another, but this one really comes alive with the most impossibly subtle but inescapably uplifting little chords that suggest that no matter what shit you have going on in your life, things will be OK. It's a classic amongst many on this label. 'With That' is another tight, compelling and tech tinged dub roller with real bite and drive, and 'Treading Water' then blisses you out with its liquid chords and sense of endless infinite groove.

Review: Few labels do minimal as well as Trelik and in terms of artists, Edward is also as good as they come right now. This perfect pairing opens up with the deeply alluring 'Time' with its woozy pads and smeared chords over warm and rubbery drums. It's a hypnagogic affair then 'Vacuum Tube' has a more menacing air thanks to the wispy and unsettling synth details and clunky hooks. 'Watch Out' brings a more spangled and rubbery rhythm that has colourful details peeling off the beats and last of all, 'Stream' ups the ante with some thudding deep house and widescreen ambient synth work.

Now it carries on with a similar MO as it works with Multi Culti label head, DJ and producer Dreems on new set of limited-edition EPs. He has already landed on the likes of Kompakt, Pinchy & Friends and Futureboogie and now digs into his vaults to serve up some edits and dubs that are hard to pin down but often doused in psychedelic overtones, acid and dub. Review: Parisian producer Franck Roger lands on Nu Groove with 'Cosmic Tree' EP, a four-track outing of deep house perfectly at home on the legendary NYC label. Still going strong almost 35 years after its inception, it's nice to see the label is still welcoming fresh talent: Roger delivers a sultry, sauna-dunked steam on 'Part Of My Soul', one of the most contented-sounding house tracks we've heard in a while, thanks in part to the vocal stylings of Rimarkable; then there's the more repetitious ardour of 'Radik'Hall', 'Cosmic Funk' and 'The Music', all of which revel in the purely seductive potentialities of deep house production. Review: Evasive Records are still going strong after an initial founding in 1999. Run by DJ and producer Rob Pearson, a staple figure of Southeast London's tech house scene at its underground apogee, Evasive's take on the style is an authentic, diversive example of the genre's truest origins. Lovable Rogues is Pearson in collaboration with fellow tech pioneer Lee Humphreys; this is their second EP together, a special follow-up release (now reissued), not least since it logically follows on from the very EP that launched Evasive, 'Look Into Your Eyes / Chica / Twilight Manoeuvres'. Made by the pair in the deepest rural German sticks, the 'Interger' EP betrays tech house's early indebtedness to broken beat, acid jazz and electro, the B2 'Thursday' coming as the tricky favourite here.

Review: The Politics Of Dancing label hits release number 30 here with a suitably fresh new offering that finds the eponymous label head stepping up with three balmy new tunes. 'Let's Do This' is fresh as you like house music with deep drums and heady pads circling round in cosmic fashion. Boris Werner's Bleep remix is a little more driving and thumping for the later hours and then 'Mamma' again gets its head up amongst the stars with more colourful synth work before the liquid and loopy house pumper 'Never Stop' closes out a lively and vibrant EP.

Review: Naya Beat's modus operandi is to champion the OG sounds of the South Asian underground through the lenticular funnel of dance music. Their latest in this effort is a breakout wonder in V/A form, herding together three contemporary club titans for a jolly trans-national dialogue over the original stylings of an inimitable key player in proliferation of Bhangra music, Manjeet Kondal. The late great Kondal hears one original piece, 'Pyaar', reissued, alongside two exclusive versions of 'Ishkaan De Mamle' by digger extraordinaire Mr. Scruff, followed by a closing, straight-from-the-stems downtempo acid dub tribute by modern day remixers and DJs Turbotito & Ragz. This is an honorific tribute to the crossection of late 80s to early 90s Bhangra music with acid house, carefully modelled after the aesthetic sensibilities of the time.
