Review: It's been a little while since the last slice of material from Anthea, but now the London based producer is back on her regular haunt Brouqade with a fresh three-tracker that delves into all kinds of stripped down techno fun and games. "Thing For D" kicks proceedings off in a spooked out fashion, using subtle drones and nervy bleeps to create an uneasy atmosphere around the tightly wound beat. "Solid State" is a looser affair with plenty of flanging percussion and a snappy funk, but it's no less eerie. "We All Want Bliss" leaves behind many of the dancefloor tropes and invites you into a more intimate headspace with vocals presumably from the lady herself.

Review: Tough and stripped back house music. Brussels-based Constantini has appeared previously on labels Earlydub and Karton and merges the tough and dusty street level sounds of vintage obsessed house with the rolling minimalist groove of the Romanian sound on this great release for Anthea and Dana Ruh's long running imprint. On the A side "Plusziers Zip" thumps away gracefully over cut up vocal snippets and reductionist funk." On the flip is "Something Different" a driving and hypnotic cut with a trance-inducing melody which swirls around woozily while the immaculate and energetic rhythm programming does all the rest in the background.

Review: Romanian producer Dragosh returns to Brouqade, some two years on from his well received Five EP for the same imprint. He's always been good at packing his blends of tactile tech-house and stripped-back techno with oodles and atmosphere - as well as surprisingly weighty basslines - and "Brinit" is no exception. Featuring a short vocal sample from what appears to be Moloko's "Sing It Back" (but may well not be), fizzing percussion, clanking electronics and a seriously fat bassline, the track sits somewhere between energetic late night fare and trippy, early morning afterparty fodder. The accompanying remix from Rhadoo and Cezar sits firmly in the latter camp, opting for a minimal head-nodder complete with extended breakdowns and looped, barely audible vocal snippets.

Review: The cultured underground outlet that is Brouquade squeezes out one last release of 2023, this time from the enduring man of the moment, Kepler. He brings his usual cosmic touch and mastery of celestial melody to a trio of tasty tech house cuts. The first is a busy one with clacking drums and snappy snares on 'Enter The Void' that takes you through the cosmos at a great pace. 'MRF' then rides a nice bumpy low end and has delightfully deft astral melodies peeling off the beats before 'Event Horizon' shuts down with a hurried and snappy rhythm and more dark and unsettling synth explorations.

Review: Ledger makes his debut on Ruh & Nzekwu's Brouqade with two fine techno explorations; "Retrospettiva" looks back to look forward in a fluid, dubby and warm groove that refuses to sit still. "Percezione Attiva", meanwhile, brings us home on a sublime 11 minute breakbeat trip as classical keys create a sense of resolution before the ensuring dense atmospheres are punctuated by the chiselled kicks and snares. Impeccable.

Review: Dana Ruh, Ann M Cazal & Anthea's Berlin-based label returns and sees the return of Oshana, the American ex-pat DJ and producer whose Brouqade debut came back in 2013! The Multiverse 12" leads out with the driving and atmospheric groove of "Voyager" which hypnotises as much as it adrenalizes over its nine minutes of glory. On the flip "Rashomon Theory" is a much more fiercer offering; this thumping and jacking tech house cut delivers a good dose of dancefloor attitude and will appeal to a wide cross section of house and techno DJs.

Review: England's Anthea and Berlin's Dana Ruh teamed up 10 years back for their joint venture Brouqade which is has made a name for itself with its trademark style of grooves: swinging, rolling, deep and hypnotic: always! With previous releases by artists as diverse as Alex Celler, Vid and Oshana, they're back with an EP that gets some more of the label's mainstays repping for them in fine form and in the process presenting some interesting takes on the back catalogue. Starting out in impressive fashion with one of the kings of Romanian minimal: Rhadoo, serving up a particularly trippy and trance inducing remix of Pherox's "Gabrielle", label boss Ruh teams up with Nvelope for "Flowers" (originally from 2008) which gets a stellar makeover by All Inn Records head honcho Laurine Frost. On the flip we should also mention Puglian tech house hero Buck's absolutely wicked take on Danilo Schneider's "L'ecole" from 2011.

Review: Dana Ruh aka Dana Gerth has been quietly powering her way through some of the best labels around, and thanks to releases on labels such as Underground Quality - on which she released her debut album last year - Ostgut Ton and Work Them, we're now looking forward to each new release by the lady. This time she's back on Brouqade with three glitch and uber deep slices of house music, our favourite of the of the lot being "Yardang" itself, that packed groove and itchy percussion muscle sounding pretty damn good on our speakers right now..!

Review: If there's one lady who knows how to lay down a slick and slender tech-house jam it's Dana Ruh, having put in some serious releases for the likes of Cocoon, Buzzin Fly, Ostgut Ton and Einmaliens, but that's not even considering her own mighty Brouqade imprint. Here she returns to her label flying solo after linking up with Anthea for a joint release, and she's on deadly form. There's a swinging soul at the heart of "Mawan", while the seductive vocal chops and edgy key hooks keep you locked even when the track seems to take an eternity to drop. Fred P is more direct with his remix, working his ethereal pads around a pronounced and funky beat slightly out of step with the producer's normal work. Ruh is back in the driving seat for "Blue Moon" which piles the drums on while the synth lines burrow into the subconscious.

Review: Dana Ruh has always gone about her work quietly and efficiently, realising on tasty and heady labels like Underground Quality while also heading up her own Brouqaude. It is now nearing its 50th EP and the quality hasn't dropped a bit as this latest 12" proves. Title cut 'Down Is The New Up' is a pretty lively sound for Ruh - her usual dusty and deep drum are overlaid with percussive clatter and some wild synth sounds that eventually melt away to delicate keys and horns. 'Pro Vita' then slips into more signature and smoky deep house territory next to the raw tech house textures of 'She Said.'

Review: American minimal maestro Kamran Sadeghi is without a doubt one the most singular talents in techno at the moment and here offers yet more refreshing perspectives for Dana Ruh and Anthea's Broquade imprint. This follows up some killer releases of later of late by the NYC/Berlin based live act on Meander and Fasten Musique. On the A side we have the stripped back trance induction exercise of "Come Here" most likely conjured from is impressive modular setup, awash in glitchy delay drenched drums and whirry synth textures. On the flip, "Compound Eye" is a more energetic effort with its tribal drum workout beneath airy pads and analogue blips and blurps - all combined for tremendous hypnotic effect. Finally, he teams up with label boss Ruh for a drastic change of vibe - but not altogether unpleasant! The boompty business of "Call & Response" sees Sadeghi's studio wizardry combine with Ruh's sense of swing perfectly on this sunny afterhours joint - that wouldn't sound out of place aboard the Hoppetosse on a Sunday morning!
