Review: If it's an appetite for pure hip-hop ingenuity with a side of freaky flair you've got, you can't do much better than the Wu-Tang Clan's
individual players. Ghostface Killah's 2006 mini-masterpiece, 'Fishscale', elevated the faceless Clan man to the ranks of the world's
greatest MCs by way of hot beats and his supremacy in integrating '70s soul into his sound. 'The Big Doe Rehab' (Def Jam) is his
bid to hang on to his A-list achievement. Which it does, and handily: If lead single 'We Celebrate!' seems pedestrian (Rare Earth's
'I Just Want To Celebrate' can't be all that far back in the soul-keepers' vault), hang on till you get to 'Walk Around', which reaches
in further and pulls up a proper Little Milton track. Or forget about samples altogether and let Mr. Coles win you over by way of his
proficiency with hooks ('Killa Lipstick') or skits (the name-checking 'White Linen Affair'). Where one bag of tricks runs out, this disc's
tar and its producers (including the supremely skilled Anthony Acid, who steals the show here) pop up with something else to keep
you feeling the Fishscale-calibre momentum. Haters will say this hot streak can't last, but the man won't be handcuffed;
Killah can't be stopped.

its own right, having a linear storyline, with a beginning, middle, & an end.
The album breaks down into 3 Acts; Act I - Genesis, Act 2 - The Rise, Act 3 - The Demise. It also contains an epilogue
of 2 bonus tracks, 'Blue Magic', and 'American Gangster'.
The acappellas really allow this body of genius work to stand out, by showcasing the lyrics, and being able to understand
the meaning behind each song, more acutely. 'American Gangster: Acappella' is a Def Jam release.

Signed to the Mute label, the album was an impressive and surprising display of musical dexterity. Def Jam Recordings reissue the seminal 1995 album here as a 180g heavy vinyl edition featuring its original tracks, such as the euphoric rave energy of 'Feeling So Real', the uplifting house anthem 'Every Time You Touch Me', and the wonderfully evocative 'When It's Cold I'd Like To Die' with guest vocalist Mimi Goese.

Review: The first soul woman signed to Disturbing the Peace/Def Jam, this Newark, New Jersey native introduces her special realness on the debut disc "Point Of No Return". Recruiting studio vets Chucky Thompson, Salaam Remi (How Good Love Feels), Rodney Jerkins and newcomers the Justice League (Butterfly), the mature voiced twenty-three year old Shareefa has created something special. Coming on strong with her first single "Need A Boss" featuring Ludacris. It's obvious Shareefa has something to say. Produced by Rodney Jerkins, who has constructed past hits for Beyonce and Brandy, this track is the bass heavy jam that is destined for summer song greatness. Riding the rhythm with the confidence of a veteran songstress, "Need A Boss" also boldly displays Shareefa's talents as a budding songwriter.

With Valentino co-writing more than three quarters of the album, it also boasts songwriting and production credits from award-winning hit makers such as Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Sean Garrett, Tim & Bob, Don Vito, Bryan Michael Cox and Dre & Vidal.

Review: Young Jeezy returns with his single "I Love It". From the get-go it is clear to listeners that Jeezy has no intentions of tampering or even tinkering with his hit-making formula. This track picks off where Jeezy had previously left his listeners: in a state of appreciation for his growling drawl. He delivers gorgeously.

Review: This has been a year of celebration for hip-hop with artists, labels and festivals all marking the still standout genre's 50th anniversary. As part of that, Def Jam has put together this Hip Hop's 50th Anniversary Edition of Young Jeezy's Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 album on limited and gatefold triple fruit punch vinyl. It was originally released in 2005 by indie label Corporate Thugz and marked a fine commercial debut for the artists who'd already put out two mixtapes at that point. IA raw and hard hitting mix of gangsta and southern rap and trap, it's a high watermark for those styles, with singles like 'Soul Survivor' and 'My Hood' performing well.
