Review: Amazing Things marks the ninth studio album from Michigan based producer John Beltran and it's an aptly titled LP at that. Across the 17 tracks, Beltran embraces a wider palette than the introspective ambient music he's become synonymous with since his emergence in the early 90s. The half heard vocals and swirling synths of opening track "Retrouvailles" set the tone for much of the album, and there is no shortage of melodic moments on Amazing Things proving Beltran to be a master of ambient techno. Yet amongst these moments, Beltran displays his ability to branch out; "Broken Mechanism" and "Snow Day" well over with heart-stopping neo-classical piano lines, whilst "Flower Power Nuclear Submarine" and "Medellin" are powerful examples of his capacity to experiment with guitar-based compositions.

Review: Although widely regarded within the electronic music community as a serious talent, John Beltran hasn't always got the wider recognition his brilliant work so richly deserves. That may have something to do with the eclectic nature of his output, or even the unfashionable status of ambient music; either way, there's no denying the quality of his downtempo work in particular. This timely 'best of' for Delsin gathers together the cream of his ambient works so far, including tracks previously released by Peacefrog and R&S. It's a brilliant, life-affirming set, encompassing 15 beautiful pieces that joyously move between glistening IDM, bubbling soundscapes and chiming electronica. If you're at all interested in either ambient or electronica, you need it in your life.

Review: Over the last two decades, few electronica producers have amassed as impressive a discography as John Beltran. Whether crafting becalmed ambient pieces, evocative IDM tracks, or atmospheric dancefloor shufflers, the veteran producer always infuses his work with an atmospheric sense of time and place. Everything At Once, his speedy follow-up to last year's Espais, is another master class in delivering emotion-rich electronic music. Highlights abound, from the glistening, Artificial Intelligence-era Warp Records IDM of "Sinem", and droning mood-piece "Gentle Boxes", to the pitched-down rush of "Tanzmuzik" and future ambient jazz classic "Dream Lover".

Review: Last seen, quite surprisingly, on Four Tet's Text label, veteran US producer John Beltran resurfaces in more substantial fashion with the first of several Music For Machines compilations issued jointly between his own Dado and the Delsin label he has a strong affiliation with. Whilst Beltran previously compiled a selection of his own material for Delsin back in 2011 with Best Of: Ambient Selections 1995 - 2011, this first Music For Machines release finds the Michigan native pulling together cuts from other artists with likes of Winter Flags, Blair French, Sons Of Melancholia, Kirk DeGiorgio and Greg Chin all contributing. Ambient music has experienced a real surge of interest this year and Music From Machines will be a welcome addition to any fan's collection.

Review: For those who follow the work of British IDM legend Claro Intelecto, the last few years have been frustrating, to say the least. It's been five years since his last album, and three since he released a 12" single. Exhilarator, his fifth full-length, is certainly well over-due. Predictably, it is also rather good. As usual, it offers a superb balance of dark and intoxicating electro, tuneful intelligent techno, bubbly IDM, glitchy post-ambient soundscapes, deep and bass-heavy techno shufflers and clanking, off kilter experimentation from the Autehcre school of electronica. It's atmospheric, impeccably produced and stuffed full of highlights. In other words, it's another great Claro Intelecto album.

Review: Boris Bunnik's debut under the Conforce moniker, Machine Conspiracy, was a little overlooked on its release back in 2011. Since then, the album has gone on to be regarded as something of a slept-on classic - a gorgeously picturesque, far-sighted and spacey trip into late night electronica shot through with dub techno and Drexciyan electro influences. Given that original copies of the album - either on CD or wax - are now fairly hard to find, it's nice to see Delsin making the album available again. Happily, the album has lost none of its' allure in the four years since, with the deep techno throb of "Subtraction", fluid hypnotism of "Machine Conspiracy" and Larry Heard-ish "Love Hate" remaining amongst Bunnik's strongest works.

Review: Undoubtedly one of the most prolific Dutch artists currently working in electronic music, Boris Bunnik has put out a staggering amount of records in the eight years since he first surfaced. Presentism is his fourth full length under the familiar Conforce name and flips the script a little. Recorded following his recent move to Rotterdam, it sees the veteran Dutch artist blending glacial electronics, crystal clear melodies and spacey chords with elements of ambient, classic IDM and Detroit techno. As a result, it's a far more picturesque and set than his three previous albums, with an emphasis on mood and melody previously buried beneath industrial textures and razor-sharp rhythms. It could well be his best set to date, and that's saying something.

Review: Given his productivity and the reliability of his release schedule, we were a little surprised to find that "Dawn Chorus" is actually Boris Bunnik's first Conforce album for two years. It's every bit as impressive and alluring as its predecessors, with the Dutch producer wrapping a variety of 6am sounds - frosty chords, dew-laden melodies, sunrise-ready motifs and bleary-eyed riffs - around crunchy and largely weighty beats. These are rooted in classic electro, techno and IDM, offering both titanium-clad heaviness and loose-limbed dancefloor flexibility. Highlights come thick and fast throughout, from the grumpy dub techno flex of "Marooned" and "Incunabula"-era Autechre vibes of "Solstice", to the buzzing, early morning insanity of "Umbra".

Here, the long-running Dutch techno imprint looks back on Harvey's often-overlooked career, gathering together a scintillating range of classic, lost and forgotten gems over a sumptuously packaged triple-pack. What shines through most is Harvey's effortless grasp of mood and melody, with each spacey, heart-aching composition coming smothered in classic Motor City melodies, supernova chords and glistening electronics. Whether heading for the dancefloor via hypnotic, rolling groovers, or showcasing his love of IDM and ambient techno for those feeling the post-club sofa vibe, Harvey rarely got it wrong. Review: Periodically, labels get a little fascinated with reissuing material from certain previously overlooked scenes. Recently, that's meant a surprising re-focus on the Icelandic dub techno scene of the late '90s early 2000s. The chief beneficiary of this has been Arnvidur "Exos" Snorrason, whose pioneering 1998 12", Q-Box, recently resurfaced on Thule. Here, his 2001 album My Home Is Sonic gets the reissue treatment on Delsin. Sat somewhere between hypnotic German minimal, the relentless loops of Robert Hood, the dubwise Berlin antics of Rhythm & Sound, and classic Motor City futurism, the album remains a timeless example of dub techno at its' very best.

Review: During the early-to-mid 1990s, Stefan Robbers released some of the most inspired techno to come out of the Netherlands during the period, mostly under the Florence pseudonym on the Eevo Lute Muzique label he co-founded in 1991. This fine triple-vinyl compilation from Delsin tells the tale of both artist and label, drawing together the best of Robbers' work for the label. You'll find extensive liner notes from fine techno scribe Oli Warwick on the accompanying insert, but it's the music - a mixture of sci-fi flavoured club cuts, dreamy and melodious electronica, heady ambient techno, and tactile, loved-up rhythmic soundscapes - that makes "Analogue Expressions" such an essential listen.

Review: Delsin's first reissue of 2019 is the album Repeats, which originally landed on now defunct Essex label A13 in 1995. Originally comprised of UK legends Mark Broom, Andy Turner and Ed Handley (with Dave Hill joining in later on), the friends often hung out at UXB Studios (Broom's home) in London - a meeting point for a lot of other seminal producers from the period like Baby Ford and Stasis. The outfit was later reduced to just Broom and Hill. Repeats was a departure from their more techno oriented work, and drew inspiration from alternate electronic sounds of the '90s such as IDM and ambient, also incorporating house and electro on this collection of deep, reflective and emotive sonic journeys. They still have a timeless quality, as well as being a zeitgeist of a wonderful era in UK electronic music's recent history.

Review: Eight slabs of chunky German dub techno coming up. After debuting on Delsin last year with the three-track Vortekz 12", Vril's second record away from the Giegling camp, the Dutch label have secured a prize release from the reserved German artist in his second album. It's a more club orientated listen compared to last year's Torus LP which suits the Delsin aesthetic just fine, and for techno bombs DJs will launch into clubs this year check out "Portal 6" and "Portal 7". For a cut in line with the vibes heard on his work for Staub see "Portal 1", while for something deeper and a little housier go to "Portal 3".

Review: Icelandic producer Yagya (AKA reclusive producer Aoalsteinn Guomundsson) doesn't release very much, with four studio albums and a lone single the sum of 12 years productivity. However, what he does release is usually top notch. Sleepygirls, his fifth album and first for Delsin, is predictably good, delivering warm, sensual, melodious, dub-inflected techno and undulating, ultra-deep house. Grooves shuffle, electronics drift between speakers, melodies bubble and chords float off into the ether. It's the kind of album to stick on while the sun's coming up, or as you're easing yourself into the day following a heavy session the night before. Any many ways it's as sleepy as the title suggests, but in the most beguiling way.

Review: In certain techno circles, the release of a new Yagya album is a genuine event. The Icelandic producer's sporadic sets are never less than sublime, with his previous outing on Delsin, 2014's Sleepygirls, being particularly alluring. Like that set, Stars & Dust is an emotion-rich affair, fusing the glacial ambient soundscapes of Biosphere with the blazed, low-end pule of dub techno, and the saucer-eyed melodiousness of classic British IDM. The tracks shuffle between impeccable downtempo beauty (see the superb "Through The Zodiacal Cloud"), and gentle dancefloor thrust, with a clutch of head-in-the-clouds cuts in between. In other words, it's brilliant.
