  1. Amoss - "The Shapeshifter" (feat MC Fokus - Skeptical remix)
  2. Optiv & CZA - "Sight Unseen"
Review: The debut sampler plate from Dispatch's Transit 2 album, this sets the tone for a whole wealth of next level D&B from Ant-TC1's super-respected imprinted. First up Skeptical remixes Amoss and MC Fokus's dark stepper "Shapeshifter" adding a cool swing to the groove that gives it a demonic, eerie sense of funk. Flip for Optiv & CZA's "Sight Unseen". Shuffling and scratching with an infectious sway, it's understated ugliness in its most purest form with a killer hook that worms its way into the groove mid-way.

  1. Amoss & Fre4knc - "Oxide" (6:01)
  2. Amoss - "Hold Back" (5:40)
  3. Amoss - "Skittles" (6:52)
Review: Industrial strength D&B futurism from Amoss. First up "Oxide", a sinewy co-lab with Dutch artist Fre4knc. Both acts complementing each other's stark, minimal styles, the slow-burning fire ignites with murmuring sound design and outer planetary processes before dropping into an understated grunting groove. Meanwhile on B, Amoss go it alone with two iceberg bangers: "Hold Back" leans heavily on super-sized tribal drums that weave the lead melody which is mirrored by the waspy bass beneath. "Skittles" is more of a straight-up roller where a tightly clipped bassline does all the white-knuckle driving, deftly navigating through Amoss's trademark eerie, misty sonic constructions.

  1. Break & Survival - "Stano"
  2. Survival - "Going Over"
Review: Clash of the modern day titans right here as Break and Survival collide for a sizzling workout of glitchy, steppy riddims. As you'd expect from the pair, "Stano" is sharper than a drag queen's put downs and full of interesting sonic twists and turns. Fans of both Symmetry and Dispatch output should go mental for it. Flipwise we find Survival going solo for "Going Over". A deeper, more quintessential rolling affair, check those meaty one-note subs and you'll be all over this. Heavyweight stuff.

Drum And Bass
  1. Tiamat
  2. What We Bring Upon Ourselves
  3. Conway
Review: The working relationship between Cern and Dispatch Recordings is already very strong thanks to a series of 12" releases from Ollie Macky's project on the label over the past five years so it makes perfect sense that a second long player from him is due in the coming months. Whilst a three track sampler is never going to offer a conclusive insight into how Under Another Sky might sound, it will undoubtedly whet the appetites of Cern fans everywhere! "Tiamat" is nothing but a marauding opener, rich with that vicious sense of sound design and finely crafted rhythm that the Cern approach has become synonymous with, whilst the delicate strings and atmospherics of "What We Bring Upon Ourselves" suggest the upcoming album wont be packed full with dancefloor monsters. "Conway" closes proceedings and feels like the ghost of "Inner City Life" trapped and tormented deep within a rhythmic mainframe that is equal parts abstract and vicious.

  1. Cern & Dabs - "Oh The Horror"
  2. Dabs & Safire - "Back & Forth"
Review: Dispatch are chuffed to present a truly international 12" with 3 producers cross-collaborating worldwide to present this powerful bass
heavy release. We start on the A-side with arguably New Zealand's finest export Cern collaborating with wonder kid Dabs hailing from
Italy, they both provide some real dance floor power in the form of "Oh the Horror". Dabs then works his way back over to the other
side of the globe Australia bound to work alongside rising talent Safire! They both bring us a modern day roll-out "Back and Forth" on
the flip... To make this story even more hard to explain the 2 tracks ended up on a UK based label however as far as we saw it the
instant we heard these 2 tracks we had to make sure Dispatch would become their home.
Huge support from the likes of Rockwell (both tracks featured on Shogun Ministry radio show), AI, Ant TC1, Spectrasoul (Shogun
Ministry radio show), Dose, Octane & DLR, Survival, BTK, Doc Scott, Kasra, Judda, Nymfo, Teebee and more.

Drum And Bass
  1. Objection VIP
  2. Cern & Dabs - "Alter Ego"
  3. Cern & Dabs - "Hell Rose" (Villem & McLeod remix)
Review: There are some serious players involved in Dabs' latest EP... Not only has Dabs gone to town on last year's massive "Objection" with a suitably heavy VIP but he's teamed up with New Zealander Cern for two killer pieces (one of which has been remixes by the ever-ready creators Villem and McLeod). First up is "Alter Ego", a guttural ugly-bump that scratches and scuffs with raw attitude and an array of bass textures and twisted drum switches on the fills. Finally "Hell Rose" (originally releases on the initial "Objection" EP last year) gets the deep space treatment from Villem and McLeod. With enough room between each percussive element to park an entire fleet of buses, the duo have created a dynamic that really allows the vocal to sweep you off your feet. We've always said Dabs' skills are constant. This is proof.

Say What You Want EP (limited 10")
Cat: DISLTD 016. Rel: 05 Aug 14
Drum And Bass
  1. Paranoia
  2. Say What You Want (feat Amanda Seal)
Review: Two stunning slabs of sub gold from Luton trio DBR UK. "Paranoia" lives up to its name; dark, creepy and ominous, the subs ooze menace as slippery lead lines play games like random noises echoing upside your head when you're walking through a dodge area late at night. For many, though, this release is all about the startling star-gazing soul of the B-side "Say What You Want". The beats skip, the synths swoon and the bass has heaps of spacious to stutter and gurgle as Amanda Seal lays down some sensuous vocal magic. As DBR continue to gather momentum, this will be seen as a career-shaping release. Guaranteed!

Review: Damn, it's motherhumping Digital! The Metalheadz member and d&b pioneer makes a rare appearance in this day and age on Dispatch Recordings and he's come through as pensive as ever with his sleek and contemporary take on the jungle variety. "Red Alert" is what you'd call a 'minimal' d&b cut, while "A Message" takes a half-step groove and adds in subtle waves of breaks to the mixture. Finally, the dude teams up with Audio Habitat and Mad Vibes for "Maintain", a meditative excursion into the deepest depths of neo-jungle.

Seeing Sounds: Album Sampler 1

Drum And Bass
  1. Human Error (feat Break)
  2. Underpin
Review: Once seen devastating the dance with Octane, DLR has been a solo operator for just over two years now. In that time he's developed an impeccable reputation on his own rights... And he's written a stunning debut album - Seeing Sounds - that sees him exploring his sound and minimal D&B science with real attention to detail. Here are two examples of its excellence; "Human Error" is, as you'd expect from a Break collaboration, a wriggling, unpredictable slammer coded with an array of unique bass tones and off-beat twists. "Underpin", meanwhile, is an elastic groover where the elements ricochet off the stern, concrete beats with twisted, dark funkiness.

  1. Empyreal (feat Hydro)
  2. Control The Sound (feat Total Science)
Review: The second of two album samplers, here we find DLR getting jiggy with legends old and new. First he tags up with Hydro for a deeply minimal roller that gurgles with funk and wriggles with an array of head-massaging FX and processes. "Control The Sound", meanwhile, sees him teaming up with fellow Bristol-based studio thugs Total Science for one of the heaviest cut of the album. Snarling, tearing and wheezing with low end toxicity, its clear DLR and Total Science bring out the very best in each other. Don't stop here... Cop the whole album.

Cat: DISDLRLP 002S. Rel: 08 Nov 16
Drum And Bass
  1. Pyoyb (4:16)
  2. Wheel Of Fortune (feat Script) (5:44)
Review: The mighty DLR tee's up for his second solo album Dreamland with two outstanding uncompromised D&B constructions. "Pyoyb" guarantees to put you on your back with a devilishly simple bass hook that's so overwhelming and perfectly distorted and granular it stands out from any bass texture being made in the game right now. "Wheel Of Fortune" is equally unique with a drum set that will thrill thanks to its slippery highs and an almost psy-like arpeggio driving the groove with the perfect air of paranoia. Both cuts set us up for the full LP perfectly with their refusal to be pigeonholed and their resounding but not over the top clarity. There's a reason why DLR is described among his peers as a studio genius - these are but two.

  6. Trip Up (4:20)
Review: Little over 12 months has passed since the release of long-established D&B producer DLR's debut album, but he's already dropped the follow-up. This abridged, DJ-friendly version contains six tracks spread across two slabs of wax, including two tunes - punchy roller "Time Wasting", and the humid, tropical-tinged percussion assault that is "When Tribes Collide" - that aren't available on digital download editions. According to the artist, the album was inspired by classic D&B and jungle, and the cuts here, most notably the Break hook-up "Wonder What It Feels Like" and Ed Rush & Optical style closer "Trip Up", certainly back up that assertion.

  2. DLR - "Tugboat"
Review: Following the heavyweight Transit 2 compendium comes another essential couplet from Ant-TC1's Dispatch brand. "We'll See" sees DLR team up with the matchless Break. One of D&B's most venerated producers, he nails everything he touches - including this richly textured stepper which offers something new on every listen. DLR goes solo for "Tugboat" on the B; straight up in-your-face steppery with serious attention to detail on the bass, it's got every bit of power its name suggests. Get tugging....

Review: Following "Issue One" in September, Veil returns with another collection of wildly future-focussed creations. Sam KDC goes all techno with "Ascetic". Double kicks a go-go, it's the genre at its funkiest. ASC, meanwhile, sets phasers to stun with his startling slow breakbeat number that tips a nod to the early prog chapters. For serious sonic sickness head for "Trapped Within The Circuit", a muffled lo-fi paranoia jam that sounds like a really early Chemical Brothers track that been rusting in acid for the last 20 years. Method One completes the set with the trembling, emotional "Under The Same Stars". Quintessential electronica.

Review: Dispatch's long-awaited Transit 2 album is finally en route, and if this series of sampler plates are anything to by, it's going to be huge. On this second plate we find some of the label's most familiar faces going toe-to-toe. DLR's "8 Bits Of 16" is all stark, steppy and snub-nosed. With bass glitches and gurgles on every twist, it's one of his heaviest works to date. Survival & Silent Witness, meanwhile, bare their sharpest teeth with the grizzly, waspy work out "Paddy". Gnarly!
