Review: On Evolve, Nick Douwma has gone back to the future, offering up an album that giddily mines the music that inspired him to fall in love with electronic dance music in the first place. So, while it's undoubtedly a radio-friendly, 21st century big-room dance album, the collected tracks include nods to many classic dancefloor anthems (see 'Fine Day', an EDM-d&b re-make of the Opus III classic that also inspired Orbital's 'Halcyon'), crossover acts of old (the Prodigy, the Chemical Brothers), vintage hardcore and jungle, and 90s house. Review: The original sleazy stars of the synth-pop boom, Soft Cell made their presence felt in an instant when they debuted with Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret and their perennial classic cover of Northern Soul standard 'Tainted Love'. Marc Almond and Dave Ball had a widescreen vision of what their music represented, leaning in on a neon-lit, night-walking vision of early 80s Britain which was more candidly outrageous than most were prepared for. But for all the subversion contained in this all time classic of the era, the pop nous is stronger and that's why they managed to be hugely successful no matter how high they waved the freak flag.

Review: American alternative rockers and, if you're anything like us, teenage favourites the Smashing Pumpkins, dropped their second album Siamese Dream in July of 1993. Frontman and vocalists Billy Corgan produced it with Butch Vig and the sessions were reportedly marked by difficulties and tensions but that didn't stop the record from debuting at number ten on the Billboard chart and going on to be certified quadruple Platinum. Review: Given anyone over the age of 35 grew up with copies of Queen: Greatest Hits Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 in the house, you could be forgiven for asking if we need another retrospective of the iconic English rock band. Not least as there's also a Greatest Hits Vol.3, which many don't realise due to the success of the preceding two and how long the third took to materialise after the tragic death of lead singer Freddie Mercury.

Perhaps riding on the shirttails of the Platinum Jubilee of another monarchical figure, The Platinum Collection arrives and, on the face of it, does little that's not been done before. Don't Stop Me Now, Bicycle Race, Bohemian Rhapsody, Under Pressure, Flash - all the usual suspects are here. Keep reading, though, and you realise just how much else is here. Pretty much every great Queen track, plus stacks of post-Mercury singles and cover versions with all ranging from George Michael to Wyclef Jean. What's not to like?

Review: Queen's Rock Montreal album, compiled from two electrifying live performances in Montreal during 1981, stands as one of their pinnacle live releases. Originally filmed for theater projection, the subsequent DVD's audio was said to feel lacking at home, but after Queen regained publishing rights they remastered both audio and visuals, resulting in this exceptional vinyl pressing. The concert showcases Queen at their peak, fueled by Freddie Mercury's fervor. 'We Will Rock You' kicks off with thunderous energy, setting the stage for an unforgettable journey through Queen's hits.
