World Of Batter - "The Horse I Rode In On Is Dead"
Review: The suggestively named Ears Have Eyes label first surfaced last year with a self-professed "penchant for the weird" and intent not to be "bound by any genre restrictions". Their debut offering took in the post punk stylings of the wince inducing Snapped Ankles, and this second release from the Peckham could not be anymore different. Falling under the banner A Throng Of Orbs, this 12" finds the label showing off their A&R talents for rising house music producers with contributions from some unheralded names in Losian, Run B and World Of Batter. "117" from Losian opens matters in a sparse and atmospheric style with a subtle chiming melody complemented by slightly unnerving vocal ticks whilst "A Kiss On The Tweeter" from Murun B is a excellent slab of deep, driving house. The superbly named World Of Batter hogs the B Side and delivers perhaps the best track here with the dusty, warbling closer "The Horse I Rode In On Is Dead".
