De Ton Absence (Timothy J Fairplay remix)
Cat: EL 004. Rel: 16 Sep 19

Electro
De Ton Absence (single version) (5:19)
De Ton Absence (Timothy J Fairplay remix) (6:26)
Review: Electronic Leatherette continue their trips into the ethereal and seductive world of minimal wave with this new single from label founders Dmitry Distant and Arnaud Lazlaud. "De Ton Absence" is an artfully sculpted synth ballad bathed in reverb and Lazlaud's dreamy vocals - the end result is something both yearning and sinister, like the best minimal wave should be. On the flip, the balladry gets a shot of pure adrenaline as Timothy J Fairplay creates a taut, feisty electro belter out of the raw ingredients for a remix that should find favour with more uptempo dancefloors.

Exhausted Modern - "Cima Da Lagh" (6:32)
Exhausted Modern - "Loss Of Self-Identity" (7:07)
CCO - "With Me" (6:00)
CCO - "Serendipity" (5:56)
Review: To date the Electronic Leatherette releases have featured a whole spread of noirish synth brandishing producers on two split 12"s, including Heinrich Dressel and Plant43. This third trip out into the grubby climes of the wave-inspired scene comes courtesy of Exhausted Modern and CCO, both of whom know a thing or two about channeling sinister monosynths and brittle drum machine rhythms that bridge the gap between the DIY 80s and these hardware abundant times. Exhausted Modern's "Loss Of Self-Identity" is especially strong, while CCO's "Serendipity " struts with a satisfyingly deep and nagging acid twist.

Electro
Plant43 - "Hydrocarbon Seas"
Gestalt - "Ecosystem"
Maroje T - "LA Confidential"
Jack Roland - "Osmotic Potential"
Review: After kicking off with a selection of artists pushing hard on the serious electro tip, Latvian label Electronic Leatherette is back once again with another round of smartly chosen protagonists plying their machine funk wares. Plant43 are the most established here, dealing in immaculate Drexciyan funk of the most aqueous kind. Gestalt is equally on killer form with "Ecosystem" while Maroje T taps up the noir mood to perfection on "LA Confidential." Jack Roland's crafty "Osmotic Potential" is a smart B2 reach - loaded with detail and production chops while exploring a more mysterious atmosphere in the process.

Electro
Vessel In Distress - "Transponder"
Franck Kartell - "Sigma Octantis"
MSRG - "Elliptical Wave"
Heinrich Dressel - "Down Upsight"
Review: The Electronic Leatherette label shows its hand straight away with a pointed nod to The Normal and the foundations of Mute Records. Sure enough there's an industrial, new wave and electro fog hanging over the nocturnal transmissions that make up this first release, although it's far from one dimensional throwback music. Vessel In Distress has a chilly sci-fi leaning to its brand of gloomy electro, but that's contrasted by the sprightly robo-funk of Franck Kartell's "Sigma Octantis". MSRG brings the party with the feisty stomp and gnarly synth lines of "Elliptical Wave", and Heinrich Dressel rolls out an evocative night crawler of a track in "Down Upsight", as is his customary style.
