Review: The return of The Duke Spirit comes as a very pleasant surprise to their fans and beyond, after five years of silence in which the casual observer might have been forgiven for assuming that they'd decided to call it a day - yet 'Kin' is the sound of the band both reinvigorated and righteous, their sound having evolved in style since the breathless garage clangour of yore. With erstwhile Cocteau Twin Simon Raymonde on production duties, it's perhaps no surprise that shoegaze-tinged abstraction makes its presence felt, yet crucially such effects-pedal-euphoria is deployed in the service of indelibly memorable songs, whilst Leila Moss' dulcet tones have rarely sounded more seductive.
