Review: When it first appeared digitally earlier in the year, DJ Spinna described Deborah Jordan's first album in nine years, See in the Dark, as an, "instant future classic". As it now lands on vinyl for the first time, we have to say we wholeheartedly agree with his assessment. Sitting somewhere between neo-soul, broken beat, nu-jazz and future R&B, the set sees Jordan deliver impeccable, effortlessly soulful performances of her own songs with the help of an impressive cast-list of musicians and a string quartet. Brilliant from start to finish, its multiple highlights include the slow and seductive shuffle of 'Stay With You', the piano ballad 'Fear', the stunning R&B brilliance of 'Machine' and effervescent bruk-up number 'You Should Know'.

Review: 'I'll See You Again' delivered a triumphant conclusion to Deborah Jordan's 2020 album See In The Dark, a set that DJ Spinna described as, "an instant classic". Here it gets a deserved single release, albeit in remixed form. The A-side boasts a stunning Extended Mix that's the definition of slow-burn delight, with lengthy beat-free opening and closing sections sandwiching the main body of the heavily orchestrated song. It's a genuinely stunning version. Marc Rapson takes over on the flip, first offering up a chunky, deep, trip-hop style 'Rework', before delivering a looser, warmer hip-hop soul style 'Remix' that makes great use of a squelchy bassline and rich Rhodes keys.

Review: A contemporary jazz collaboration featuring the unique vocals of Deborah Jordan against the drum breakbeats and electronic nu-jazz fusion of fellow London native Kieron Ifill (aka K15). The collision of genres spans from the layered traditional R&B production on the smooth 'Heartbroken' to the 808 laden nu-jazz cut of 'Human' and the broken beats of 'Running'. Fans of Solange's 'When I Get Home', H.E.R's EPs and Liv.e's 'Couldn't Wait to Tell You' will have a long list of reasons to check this smooth mix of crystal clean production, jazzy soundscapes and hushed vocals. Jazz, Soul, Funk, and Blues fans cannot pass up the opportunity to give this LP a listen - R&B is far from dead.

Review: The Peter Franks Group mix up great live instrumentation and well-chosen dusty samples to make for warm, seamless and timeless fusion sounds on their new album Days Ahead. It is a mighty fine assemblage of talent with Nat Birchall on sax, Amanda Whiting on harp, Robert Mitchell on keys, Tom Mason on bass, Marc Rapson on keys, Rachel Crennell on flute and Julian Ferraretto on strings. They take in broken beat, jazz, dub and funk as they explore spiritual soundscapes across a range of tempos, moods and grooves with plenty of standout solos along the way.
