Review: The second part of Garage Hermetique's ongoing trawl through the archives of Kirk Degiorgio's acclaimed As One project offers up some classic, previously album-only tracks from 1994 and '97. First up is "Mihara", a wonderfully spacey, positive and dreamy fusion of elongated synth chords, funky, Clavinet style motifs, rich bass and skittish, Detroit-influenced drums. Deep breakbeat-techno cut "Destination Other" showcases two of Degiorgio's primary influences - namely jazz-funk and Motor City electro - while "Shambala" (B2) is a breezy, attractive and aesthetically pleasing chunk of techno/electro fusion. Fittingly, Convextion man Gerard Hansen dons his E.R.P alias to deliver a 2018 update of the latter track, in the process turning it into a warm, yearning and loved up chunk of deep electro full of lilting melodies and drifting pads.

Review: Garage Hermetique unleashes four cuts by Berlin's Onirik and collaborators, all recorded at his Schlesi studio hidden beneath the Schlesicher Tor U-Bahn station. A 'special and chaotic' place, it clearly proved a fertile ground for sonic alchemy, with the 'Good Bye Schlesi' EP traversing a smorgasbord of moods and atmospheres, from the mardy tekkno stomp of 'Rabenflug' to the pensive tone float of the aptly-named 'Ebb & Flow' via the effortlessly sleazy synth gyrations of 'Meier Low Rider' and the nervy Drexciyan shuffle of 'Critical Massa'. Class.

Review: Belgian minimal house hero Onirik heads up the esteemed Finest Hour imprint with partner in Crime Pablo Tarno. The two of them are fixtures on the Berlin scene with regular appearances at the capital's top haunts such as Club der Visionaere and Hoppetosse. He recently launched his own venture Garage Hermetique whose inaugural release tried to ambitiously bridge the gap between reduced/micro and deep house sounds with an industrial edge. Now come the remixes and they are fairly impressive: Thuringia's finest Kosta Athanassiadis aka XDB serves up some lean and subtle trance induction on his tool-focused remix of "Universal Repairs" while Views' remix of "Arvo's Flight" is undoubtedly the most upbeat moment here - with its thumping and skeletal groove that works those immaculately programmed share rolls to perfection, beneath chopped up SP1200 style sample mangling. Finally London power duo Nummer deliver a tripped out and psychedelic take on balearica on another impressive remix of "Universal Repairs".
