Electro
The Advent & Zein - "Eye's Of Envy" (5:49)
Exzakt - "Kreep" (5:59)
214 - "Crouch & Turn" (5:41)
EggFooYoung - "Bass2Large" (3:20)
Review: REPRESS ALERT: Exzakt continues to forge one of the purest totems of classic electro with his Monotone label, and indeed his own output. The latest release is a various artists EP which perfectly sums up everything Monotone is about. The Advent leads the way with the dark, melodic "Eye's Of Envy," produced alongside Zein, before Exzakt himself drops a taut and wiry dancefloor bomb in the shape of "Kreep." 214 fires up the B side with the edgy, minimalist thrust of "Crouch & Turn," before EggFooYoung makes a surprise return to the fray with the more Miami-flavoured stylings of "Bass2Large," a slower, dirtier jam with low end frequencies to get the whole club freaking.

Electro
Madrid Nights (7:11)
Escape (214 remix) (5:16)
Me & My 808 (5:50)
Love Hate (5:47)
Review: Larry McCormick's Exzakt alias strides into its 20th year of operations with ever more urgency, as the recently reanimated Monotone label continues to mark out the important place he holds in the global electro scene. In terms of original productions, "Madrid Nights" opens the record up with a tight, whip-cracking peak time joint executed in the deadly Exzakt style. "Me & My 808" takes things in a darker, almost gothic direction, and "Love Hate" keeps the pressure up with a style that borders on breaks. Meanwhile 214 drops some serious heat on his remix of "Escape", a crafty, many-sided die that wins whichever side you land on.

Felling Above (BFX, Brice Kelly remixes)
Cat: MON 020. Rel: 29 Jul 19

Electro
Feeling (5:44)
Feeling (BFX remix) (6:45)
Above (feat Kenethetic) (6:32)
Above (Brice Kelly remix) (5:55)
Review: Proud and in charge, Exzact returns with more unfaltering electro aimed at the purists in the room while still exploring avenues that will appeal to ears of a wider sonic disposition. Three tracks of broken futurism all equally accomplished and irresistible. 'Feeling' is perhaps the most upfront here, its arpeggiated introduction building atmosphere before beats drop that can only really be described as fresh, picking up tracking high-hats as things progress before introducing an echoed synth arrangement plucked straight from Bladrunner's deleted party scene. The BFX remix throws in four-to-the-floor sections, using these to build tension, breaks acting as explosive moments to unleash the true vibe. Kenethetic joins on the high pitched 'Above', while man of the moment- in this genre at least- Brice Kelly turns said track into a moody, evil work of genius.

Sub Sonic Base (5:57)
Citi Of Bass (5:04)
Take Another Hit (feat Sinistar) (6:21)
Review: Precision is fittingly the name of veteran producer Exzakt's game, as he wrist-flicks a knife edge new selection of hurtful and piercing electro tunes our way, 'Essential Cuts'. The whole thing's got a measured sharpness of of about HRC-100. Of course, this LP is a masterclass of fighting with both old and new blades, as classic tracks are stylistically woven in with new productions to a degree that we can't tell the difference between old and new. There's merit to laconically staying rooted in your production ways; Jensen Interceptor adds a blade of hay to the needlestack on the old-skool axe bit 'Me My 808', which snaps away into oblivion.

Reworked & Remixed
Cat: MON 006. Rel: 01 Aug 06

Electro
Clarity (Hydraulix remix)
Dark Mind (Boris Divider remix)
Transfusion (Dexorcist remix)
Sleeping With The Enemy (Alpha 606 remix)
Review: Monotone does not let up and comes with this mega remix EP featuring 4 remixes from hot electro artists. These are remixes of classic Exzakt tracks and each remix gives a new perspective while keeping true to the originals. First to start things off, Miami's Hydraulix take "Clarity" to a new ground with a hard steady beat and a nice break down topped off with a vocal not found in the original. Second is Madrid's Boris Divider reworking "Dark Mind". With a lighter more minimal approach its a nice addition to the overall hard remix 12". On the flip Dexorcist hailing from London brings a new sound to one of Exzakt's most famous tracks "Transfusion" which is the original version of "Musik Is The Drug". Again this one is a dancefloor killer and will not disappoint. Finally we end up back in Miami with Alpha 606, but these guys bring a whole new meaning to Miami electro when live conga percussion grace the track. Great edits and a deep take on the Exzakt Classic "Sleeping With The Enemy". A very diverse remix 12" yet the sound on each track will keep the attention of any breaks and electro DJ or listener around the globe.

Exzakt & BFX - "Nasty Beat" (5:41)
BFX - "Jelly" (5:50)
Exzakt - "Taking Over The System" (5:24)
Review: With a sleazy electro steez that would make The Egyptian Lover blush, Exzakt and BFX shore up on Monotone with the kind of dark and steamy workout that can't fail to do the damage in the club. 'Nasty Girl' rides a razor sharp 808 beat with some Kraftwerk embellishments, a dirty line in monosynths and some creepy vocoder action. If the vox are too much, there's a stripped back 'Beats' mix too, while on the B side BFX goes it alone on the bleepy 'Jelly', and Exzakt rounds things out with the more atmospheric, sci-fi channeling 'Taking Over The System'.
