Review: The latest release on Psyk's label is a heads-down affair from Italian producer Chevel. In its most extreme form, this takes the form of "2020", where high-pitched squeals and shrieks are set to a tough, pacey rhythm. However, the more rewarding tracks see Chevel explore a more subtle approach. "Noflit" is based on contrasts with a combination of a rubbery bass and tough, distorted drums. "Summer" just as understated with a mysterious synth line cloaking the arrangement's percussive slivers. However, Chevel also understands the demands of the dance floor and "Detrimental", with its blip, bleeps and tough beats is sure to cause mayhem whenever it's dropped.
Review: When it comes to stabbed-up, drum machine sequenced techno, Psyk is a go to producer. The producer's Maan alias is Manuel Anos' stripped-back take on his dub-tailored style of club music which is less brooding than the Spaniard's other productions. It's also Maan which defines the Non Series sound, which on this EP is best heard via the staccato-driven, cowbell filled "Burn". For a deep rhythm track there's "Jackin (Part 2)" - something you'd imagine Steffi playing to beef up the vibes in Pbar - while "Lost" loops a vocal like Robert Hood would as Floorplan.

Review: Spaniard Tadeo has made a name for himself over the last decade as a strong purveyor of minimal/cyclical techno. After all: he is the man behind Cyclical Trax. Naturally, he was also one of the first producers to plunder the vaults of Jeff Mills' Axis and Purposemaker imprints, spurring on this newly invigorated tribute sound that is so popular of late. Tadeo does a damn fine job of it on this conceptual album, which just like The Wizard himself, takes its cues from classic futurist and sci-fi themes. It's all good on here, but we personally pick the majestic and beatless bleep-fest of "The Cyborg: The Man Merges With The Technology (Development Option #1)" (get used to it; all the track titles are more elaborate than on a Giorgio Gigli EP), the chugging peak time hypnotism of "A New Leader: The Machine Replaces The Man" and the darkly relentless "The Net: The Meta-Human Psyche Versus The Machine". Heavy!
Review: Psyk's Non Series kicks off 2019 with a new EP from Italian Luigi Tozzi. The Rome based producer is respected for his deeply hypnotic ambient techno sound and has released his wares on Outis Music and Hypnus before now.
Opener 'Allergic' is a serene and spacious techno roller, with glitchy hits and icy hi hats echoing out into a spacey atmosphere. The equally smooth 'Eos' has more subtle, subtle kicks setting a rolling groove, with warped synths and eerie little synth details providing the cerebral hooks. 'Tender Is The Night' is another expertly designed bit of headspace techno in which to lose yourself and 'Black Market' closes things out in more rugged fashion, with rasping synths and corrugated drums all sinking you into the groove. All four tracks here pair ambient headphone beauty with tasteful deep techno dynamics.
