Review: DJ Trax takes perfect stock his sonic journey so far across this superb new album, Break From Reality. It features everything we have come to know and love from the man - rolling breaks, jazzy licks, hip-hop stylings and cinematic synths - but all served up in new and highly compelling ways. Dons of the game like Goldie and Loy have already been digging it and we are too, from the mad and unrelenting drum flurry of the opener to soul drenched breaks like 'Flame' and the acid jazz/4Hero era throwback sounds of 'Long Rhode Home' and its lush broken beats. A richly rewarding drum & bass album from one of the best in the game right now.

Review: Now here's a blast from the foundation past... Mixrace was the first act from the legendary crate digger and breakbeat scientist Paradox who, alongside DJ Trax and Leke Aerosoul formed a groundbreaking crew who were a few years ahead of the Prodigy with their genre-melting fusion. Now reformed over 30 years later, Paradox and Trax lay down pure glacial gold over two sides. 'Myosphere' goes in cold with deep freeze pads and heavily swung breaks while 'Stillness' hits a little harder with the emotional elements. Looking forward to what this new reunion brings next!

Review: It was only a matter of time before Andrew Ferguson made his debut on 2 Bad Mice's Over/Shadow; his tenure in the game, his authenticity, his lack of compromise and his timelessness as an artist (both as Outrage and his more 140-oriented alias Nomine) is a perfect fit. Here are two examples; 'Goodbye' says hello with oceanic waves of disarming pads, bellowing subs and spacious breaks while 'In The Dark' brings a little more 1990 unity vibes thanks to the sensual vocal and subtle piano charm. Outrageously good.

Review: Vromm is back on the Over/Shadow label with a new EP of spaced out and cosmic electronic energy. 'Molecular' is a restless mix of breaks and jungle effects, lots of squelchy sonic details and off-grid hits. 'Prism' is a moody and stripped back one with a minimal rhythm but plenty of gliding synth tension in the air then Kid Drama steps up to flip the opening cut into a rolling stomper with big horns. 'Zoom' closes out with more shiny metal surfaces, distant buzz saws and glistening melodies over a loose, jumbled rhythm.
