More Reasons Than One
Cat: PKSD 004. Rel: 05 Sep 23

Roots/Lovers Rock
More Reasons Than One (4:49)
Stay In Dub (Scientist version) (4:19)
Review: Johnny Ruiz is back on track with The Escapers, weaving more of that smouldering roots magic he's previously dropped on Mango Hill and Parkside while making a name for himself since 2020. 'More Reasons Than One' is a moody, haunting skanker that captures his sweet, delicate vocal style as the perfect foil to the deep-pocketed sound of his band. Sunday Afternoon (Kexp Remix)
Cat: PKSD 001BLACK. Rel: 08 Jun 22

Funk/Reissues
Sunday Afternoon (live On KEXP remix) (4:36)
On The Spot (2:32)
Review: Parkside Records out of Las Vegas Nevada welcomes Seattle, Washington group True Loves, who have a nice and raw funk sound. Sunday Afternoon was their sophomore album and it came in 2021 following 2017's debut. This tidy 7" package features new Live On KEXP remix of the title track and it has sensuous saxes played in expressive fashion next to rousing horns and over the nice and lazy but dynamic funk drum work. 'On The Spot' closes down with a more lively percussive sounds vibrant stabs and plenty of big energy.
