Marea Captura (limited hand-stamped hand-numbered 12")
Cat: PLR 005. Rel: 29 Aug 14
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. ALSI - "Marea Captura"
  2. Ztrl - "Shining"
  3. Anestie Gomez - "Sketchagram"
  4. Rack & Three Angles - "Btown"
Review: With their own unique pool of hitherto unfamiliar artists to draw upon, Project London have been doing a fine job a crafting an identity in the murky underbelly of minimal house music. On the label's fifth release they turn to a host of different artists to throw down the goods, including the moody low-end throb of Alsi's "Marea Captura" and the nervous shuffle of Ztrl's "Shining". There are some lighter moods to be found on Anestie Gomez's "Sketchagram", which shimmers with the kind of playful micro sampling that made Telegraph an essential label in the mid 00s, proving this is stripped down music with imagination and flair.

Guest 1 (12")
Cat: PLRGUEST 1. Rel: 30 Nov 15
Deep House
  1. Bielke & Geschwindner - "Dizzy Dazzle" (7:44)
  2. Bielke & Geschwindner - "Dizzy Dazzle" (TC80 remix) (7:49)
  3. Daines - "From The Top" (Chris Geschwindner remix) (7:56)
  4. Daines - "From The Top" (7:28)
Review: The Project London project comes through utterly correct with this new sublabel of theirs, the aptly named Guest chapter. It's a collaborative effort on behalf of a trio of newcomers, and first up its two shared tunes by Bielke and the easily misspelt Geschwindner; "Dizzy Dazzie" is a deep house scorcher with a bag-load of beautiful delays and pads at its core, a tune that is remixed into more frenetic territories by TC80. Daines touches down with "From The Top" on the flip, a beat-heavy minimal-house beast that is sexified by Geschwindner, of all people.

Custom EP (hand-numbered limited clear vinyl 12")
Cat: PLR 001. Rel: 09 May 13
Deep House
  1. Custom
  2. Predefinit
  3. Primitive
  4. Primitive (Vinyl Speed Adjust remix)
Review: Quiet achiever Dubsons gives the new Project London Records its debut release with the Custom EP. The title track is a highlight of the transparent 12", which sees looped Rhodes hover above stripped drums cajoled by feathered drum sticks playing a snare. "Predefinit" burrows deeper into techy deep house territory with an assortment of quirky noise tones that sound in the background like faulty fireworks, while on the B-side, the EPs balancing scale; "Primitive", which combines the best parts of the aforementioned tracks. Mysterious act Vinyl Speed Adjust then adds some stony heat to a heady remix of "Primitive".

My Dear Friend & Mistress EP (limited hand-numbered 12")
Cat: PLR 008. Rel: 11 Jun 15
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. Dupa 5 (12:29)
  2. Primavara Straina (15:42)
Review: Project London has been carrying the minimal techno dynasty over on the British front for the last two years, and they've also been responsible for bringing out new and exciting talent in the game. As such, Romania's Einzig is called up to carve his name on the label's eighth outing; the dude begins with "Dupa 5", a track which could easily be on Perlon and/or in the hands of Villalobos at one of his marathon DJ sets. Flip it over and you have the odder "Primavera Straina", another glitch and itchy minimal belter with intricate percussion shots and heavy-bottomed basslines.

Shaken Not Stirred (limited hand-numbered hand-stamped 12")
Cat: PLR 007. Rel: 27 Jan 15
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. Anestie Gomez - "Sparren Farren"
  2. Gua Camole - "Wire"
  3. Kashawar - "Mtwn"
Review: Oh! It's the seventh instalment of the super limited Project London series and it's another gorgeous collaboration between the label's best known names. Anestie Gomez drops "Sparren Farren", a minimalistic, ultra-stripped cut a-la Minus; Gua Camole's "Wire" is more downtempo but a pleasure on the ol' synapses, while "Mtwn" by Kashawar is all about the subbass - a dormant beast howling deeply at the bottom of the mix. Essential for you minimal heads.

Mastiha (limited hand-numbered 12")
Cat: PLR 003. Rel: 13 Dec 13
Deep House
  1. Mastiha
  2. Bambolina
  3. Mastiha (Sylphe remix)
Review: Having spent ample time building a name for themselves with self-released material both digitally and on sought-after vinyl, Dusseldorf's Gua Camole now gets snapped up by Project London to weave more of that dubbed out micro house magic away from home. Title track "Mastiha" is a strung-out affair with a beat that rolls on a broken pattern of sorts, even as it stays crisp and forward-focused while all around is directionless swells of pads. "Bambolina" is a more poised affair with its minimal beat, enveloping bass and tense machine-hum tones, leading neatly into the dark and cyclical nature of the Sylphe remix of "Mastiha". With its eerie sound sources amidst sharp percussive angles, it's as captivating a minimal release as you're likely to hear all year.

Lines EP (hand-numbered limited 12")
Cat: PLR 002. Rel: 08 Jul 13
Deep House
  1. Lines
  2. Crossing The Line
  3. Lines (Pheek remix)
  4. Jetlag
Review: Project London scratch up their second release with fledging act Kashawar, who debuted earlier this year on Body Parts Records. It's an EP that would sound more at home in Estonia or Romania than the UK, with its extended minimalisms and dour atmosphere. The title track flirts with the idea of dub techno, but chooses techiness over subbier sonics; Pheek somehow managing introduce even more dour tones to his remix. A syncopated and underwater groove is brought to life by a party starting acid bass line in "Crossing The Line", while on the flip sub-aqueous textures in "Jetlag" amount to more lonesome and industrial minimalisms.

Deblow EP (limited hand-stamped 12")
Cat: PLR 006. Rel: 28 Oct 14
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. Deblow
  2. Jouyeche
Review: The sketched eyes of what looks to be a scornful Amadeus Mozart (or is it Johnny Depp?) adorns the label of this sixth release from Project London, an imprint slowly making itself known for releasing a deep array of minimal beats, clicks, pops and grooves. Posh is a newcomer to us, but evidently has production skills on the basis of the two tracks here with A-side "Deblow" possessing soundtrack qualities reminiscent of older Crystal Method thanks to that synth work (the classic "Keep Hope Alive" comes to mind). Flip to the B-side and "Jouyeche" provides something that's equally cosmic as it is sub-aqueous with some scratchy jazz drums and percussion thrown in.
