That Sound EP
Cat: RDC 008. Rel: 19 Jan 21

Funky/Club House
That Sound (6:41)
That Sound (Anoraak remix) (4:42)
Peace (7:24)
Little Loving (6:20)
Review: Marseille's Ravanelli Disco Club returns with Antwerp-based Aymeric, resident at Geheimzinnig and Transit clubs, for their eighth release. Expect sexy, disco-tinged deep house all the way across That Sound EP. From the dreamy and low slung title track which gets a sultry, boogie down rework by mighty Frenchman Anoraak up next. On the flip, more club ready vibes await on the uplifting, Chicago inspired vibe of 'Peace' followed by the thumping funky house of 'Little Loving' with a distinct "French Touch" vibe that you'll love as much as we did.

The Music Box EP (B-STOCK)
Cat: RDC 010 (B-STOCK). Rel: 19 Oct 21

Disco/Nu-Disco
The Music Box (6:22)
Black Octopus (7:11)
Katayef (5:01)
Isola Delle Rose (4:53)
Review: ***B-STOCK: Creasing on outer sleeve, also the record has light surface marks/smudges, but otherwise in excellent working condition***

Rafael Cancian is something of a Brazilian wonderkid who makes much anticipated debut on Ravanelli Disco Club. He marks the label's 10th EP with a super sunny and life affirming selection of disco sounds that are coloured with a wide array of influences. There is a proto-house music feel to the filters, big strings and hip-swinging claps on 'The Music Box' which transports you right back to the 80s. 'Black Octopus' brings the funk with its big guitar licks and dazzling melodies while 'Katayef' gets all cool and sexy with its more seductive bass and drifts sax lines. 'Isola Delle Rose' then sends you home with a smile on your face thanks to its leggy groove and jazzy chords.

Disco Selections Volume 1
Cat: RDC 006. Rel: 23 Jun 20

Deep House
Ethyene - "Let Love" (5:42)
Carlo - "The Swindler" (6:32)
Hotmood - "Magical Flight" (5:57)
Rees - "The Way You Move" (6:04)
Review: We may not be able to gather to dance outdoors under a blazing sun or a blanket of stars, but there's no harm in a little musical daydreaming. That's what the latest multi-artist Ravenelli Disco Club release is all about: summery escapism that comes with a big dollop of rush-inducing disco release. Ethyene sets the tone with the colourful boogie-house fusion of "Let Love" - all twinkling synth motifs, echoing percussion hits, thickset grooves and hazy vocal samples - before Carlo raises the temperature via some jazzy deep house heaviness in the vein of Derrick Carter's "boompty" era. Over on side B, Hotmood's "Magical Flight" is a surging, string-drenched disco-house roller, while Rees' "The Way You Mood" is a tooled-up take on what sounds like a classic Philadelphia International cut.

Burning Desire EP
Cat: RDC 001. Rel: 10 Apr 19

Disco/Nu-Disco
Burning Desire (7:24)
Maybe The Melody Sucks (6:05)
So Deep (6:14)
Get Down (7:14)
Review: Mexican DJ and producer Hotmood has slung out a huge amount of quality releases in the past few years via his own Hotmood Records as well as elsewhere, from Disco Fruit to Whiskey Pickle. Now Guillermo Gonzalez is bringing the funk to Ravanelli Disco Club, imparting some seriously classy club rollers that draw on classic sound sources but boil the ingredients down into punchy, effective contemporary dancefloor bombs. "Burning Desire" is a sprightly, key led affair, while "Maybe The Melody Sucks" gets busy with Philly strings and brass stabs. "So Deep" piles the looped up disco funk on heavy, and "Get Down" does some impressive filter riding - these disco house bombs can't fail to set the party on fire when they're slapped on the platter.

La French Touch EP
Cat: RDC 002. Rel: 10 Jul 19

Disco/Nu-Disco
La French Touch (69 mix) (5:46)
La French Touch (Cody Currie remix) (5:24)
Canabliss (6:05)
The Rebound Love Affair (feat Paul Rudder) (5:41)
Review: Gallic producer Yann Polewka has previously impressed via sizzling singles on Roots For Bloom, The House of Love and Cardiology, so hopes are naturally high for this outing on Ravenelli Disco Club. We shouldn't have worried. Title track "Le French Touch (69 Mix)" is the kind of celebratory, sample heavy disco-house cut that could have been made by a previous generation of French producers - all bumpin' beats, filtered disco samples and restless bass. On his jazz deep house remix, Cody Currie filters the disco samples out further while adding some psychedelic acid lines. Polweka gets a chance to showcase his skills further on side B, first via the hot-to-trot peak-time disco deepness of "Cannabliss" and then through housed-up Jimmy Ross revision "The Rebound Love Affair (featuring Paul Rudder)".

Bongo Boulevard EP
Cat: RDC 003. Rel: 11 Sep 19

Deep House
Bongo Boulevard (7:24)
Bongo Boulevard (Jimpster remix) (7:10)
Dyfal Donc (5:24)
Dyfal Donc (Tech Support remix) (4:51)
Review: Let's get one thing straight: Ravanelli Disco Club is exquisitely named. The output has proven just as tasty, too, and with Eben Rees at the buttons of this latest EP, you'll want to tuck in once more. He serves up a brace of breezy disco house tunes: opener "Bongo Boulevard" is a funk licked and perfectly carefree sort of tune you'd drop at sundown to hint at the fun to come, while "Dyfal Donc" gets more upbeat with an eco system of cosmic leads and pads dancing above well swung drums. Freerange man Jimpster provides a remix laden with wet claps and funk riffs, and Tech Support's rugged disco arps will make any floor take flight.

Nephews - "Reingelaxed" (5:23)
Nephews - "Reingelaxed" (JKriv remix) (7:31)
Review: Marseille-based label Ravanelli Disco Club welcomes back Amsterdam-based producer Malik Kassim aka Retromigration for the evocative sunset groove of 'Jeffa' which is perfect for poolside vibes, which then heads inside to the club for some deep, late-night mood music courtesy of Ron Basejam on the remix. Over on the flip, Nephews serve up a slo-mo heater reminiscent of French deep house from the turn of the millennium on the sultry 'Reingelaxed' which gets a re-rub by Razor N Tape main man Jkriv on the flip.

Teuf De Ouf EP
Cat: RDC 005. Rel: 05 Feb 20

Deep House
Teuf De Ouf (6:30)
Teuf De Ouf (Joe Corti remix) (5:04)
Jive Y'all (6:49)
Lawka Chudes (4:32)
Review: For their fifth release, the Marseille-based Ravanelli Disco Club crew has turned to the combined talents of Scruscru last seen and heard on Nomada Records) and Jehan (a regular contributor to the always on-point Star Creature label). Title track "Teuf De Ouf" is giddily cheery and sees the pair wrap warm Rhodes stabs and jazzy horn samples around a bustling groove that arguably owes a debt to the jazz-house era work of St Germain. Joe Corti weighs in with the obligatory remix, offering up a smoother and chunkier deep house version that makes much more use of twinkly electric piano sounds. Elsewhere, "Jive Y'all" is a warm, sample-heavy fusion of jazz-funk sounds and disco-powered house grooves, while "Lawka Chudes" is a deeper take on the pair's favoured jazzy house sound.
