Hidden Valley EP
Hidden Valley EP (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: RHR 013. Rel: 15 Jan 18
Techno
  1. Enslaver
  2. Distom Spook
  3. Lemon Stealer
  4. Crow Hill
Review: HVL has landed on many different labels in recent years, but Rough House Rosie will always be something of a spiritual home for the adventurous deep electro and techno craftsman. Across the Hidden Valley EP he displays a fluid, instinctive approach to composition - "Enslaver" rolls out like a live jam but the detail and control embedded in the track is astounding. "Distom Spook" is charged with nervous acidic energy, while "Lemon Stealer" takes things in a more experimental direction with all manner of snaking synth voices wriggling around a crisp electro beat. "Crow Hill" finishes the EP off with a slow, rolling breakbeat groove and hazy pads for a quintessential B2 wind-down session.

Review: Rough House Rosie regular, HVL presents his alter ego - Kiyadama. The 10th release of the label coincides with its 3 year anniversary. The A side of the Cosmic Hum EP starts with two pieces of mesmerizing acid tracks and finishes with a smooth analog ambience. The B side offers even stronger acid cut 'Machine Terror' and 'There Will Be No Salvation', separated by a refreshing juke track - 'Slammbeat'.

Deep House
  1. Nemanja Krstic - "Bass Odyssey" (5:28)
  2. Lady Blacktronika - "Ringo Oiwaka Heaven" (5:41)
  3. Miruga - "White Moon" (7:22)
  4. Seal Bient - "Slavery" (6:43)
Review: Rough House Rosie is back with another selection of sublime tones in the adventurous corner of the deep house playground. The Silent Movie Sounds series never fails to present a fascinating array of producers, and so it is on the fourth volume as Nemanja Krstic seduces with the melodic delights of "Bass Odyssey" and Lady Blaktronika heads into blissed-out territory with the spiritual wonder of "Ringo Oiwaka Heaven". Miruga's "White Moon" is a mysterious, dubbed out affair and Seal Bient heads even further out with the scuffed and muffled flutter of "Slavery". As ever, the vitality of the tracks on this 12" can't be ignored for open-minded diggers looking for original, contemporary deep house.

Review: The third installment of 'Silent Movie Sounds' series features music from four producers each delivering a different cut of deep, hypnotic music. Japanese artist Mituo Shiomi is a regular on Simoncino's HotMix Records. He kicks off the VA with a mesmerizing house track. Fresh from his EP on Fina Records, Detroit-based producer Appian contributes a thumping track to this 12". Russian producer Alex Danilov returns to RHR with a love story to acid. Last but not least, the Chicago-based co-owner of Perpetual Rhythms, Nick Marshall aka Taelue closes the EP with a deep and emotional track with a solid kick and smooth synth lines.
