SUB 007 (12" 再出版) (1 per customer)
Cat: SUB 007. Rel: 30 Nov 18
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. PK Fire (7:15)
  2. Thunderbird (6:54)
  3. Fore (6:27)
  4. Leisure Suit (5:23)
Review: Gene On Earth's first two releases, both of which were released on his Limousine Dream imprint, showcased a retro-futurist production style rich in audible nods to vintage styles of electronic music. He's at it again on this latest outing, first wrapping bleep melodies and bowel-bothering sub-bass around elastic breakbeats on "PK Fire", before dousing a crunchy two-step rhythm in spacey tech-house electronics on "Thunderbird". You'll find more saucer-eyed nods to dance music's halcyon era on the flipside, where the modified early drum and bass skittishness of "Leisure Suit" follows the deep UK-garage-meets-ambient-techno flex of "Fore". While the nods to the past are obvious, there's enough quality contemporary flavour in each track to avoid accusations of hollow revivalism.

Abstractions (hand-stamped 12")
Cat: SUB 003. Rel: 16 Nov 16
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. Squabbled (7:45)
  2. Wallflower (6:05)
  3. Pointless Segmentation (7:16)
  4. Chemtrail (5:28)
Review: London's Subsequent are back, the promising new label has really got off on the right foot this year with some great releases thus far by Barbir & Nicola Kazimir and SHKNTOY but now it's over to Danish minimal hero Martinez; a veteran producer who over the last fifteen years has released on labels as diverse as Guidance, Moon Harbour and Cadenza. Starting out in explosive fashion with the bumpy and hypnotic roller "Squabbled" which will appeal to fans of FUSE London or Memoria, he then gets deep down and dirty on the lo-fi minimal house jam "Wallflower". On the flip we've got some sombre and emotive reduced electro in the form of "Chemtrail" which is perfect for that Berlin afterhour vibe.

SUB 005 (12")
Cat: SUB 005. Rel: 18 Apr 18
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. N 001 (6:41)
  2. To The Head (6:58)
  3. M 202 (10:01)
  4. M 201 (5:53)
Review: Subsequent returns with some fine excursions into afterhours weirdness here, this time courtesy of Second Player - who's said to be a newcomer to the scene. On the A side we've got the hypnotic "N 001" which is reminiscent of legend Baby Ford's work, the dusty classic Chicago house sound on "To The Head" up next provides some variety. On the flip is the EP stand out - the ten minute long epic "M 202" which could have nice crossover appeal within the scene, appealing just as much to fans of minimal house as it would to lovers of the rolling and subtle sounds out of Romania. The reductionist acid jam "M 201" closes out the EP in style.

  10. Anti Gravity Space Taco (6:55)
Review: Five years on from the release of his first solo single, Claus Voightmann is finally ready to deliver his debut album, an expansive double album that pushes his tactile and atmospheric sound into previously unexplored avenues. Of course, there's plenty of floor friendly material in his now trademark style - see the deep and rolling, tech-tinged shuffle of "Mr Mojo Rising", the rising and falling synthesizer lines of spacey tech-house cuts "Straight No Chaser" and "Particularly Wayward", as well as a raw remix of Ibrahim Afa and the boisterous "Perpetuity" - but also a slew of impeccable ambient soundscapes that register among the album's most memorable tracks.
