Review: Categorizing the work of Epi Centrum, AKA Polish producer Jerzy Przezdziecki, is tricky at the best of times. While ostensibly a techno producer, his tracks often eschew trends and plough their own distinctive furrow. "Raw" is a good example. Formidably cacophonous and blessed with all manner of loose, off-kilter elements - junkyard percussion, oddball electronics, jazz influences and a nagging bassline - it takes a standard 4/4 techno pulse and twists it into pleasingly eccentric new shapes. For those looking for more straightforward dancefloor thrills, the Function Remix bobs away attractively in a stripped-back acid techno vein, whike the Audio Injection Remix sounds like the sort of loopy, hypnotic fodder you'd expect to hear at Berghain at 11 o'clock on a Monday morning.

Review: Jurek Przezdziecki first appeared on Synewave back in 2014, and returned in 2017 alongside label boss Damon Wild for some appropriately immersive deep techno head twisters that fit right into the label's MO. On his debut album, the Polish producer best known as Epi Centrum presents his unfiltered vision for ranging, nagging techno crafted with delicacy to match its intensity. Try resisting the zippy refrains of "Blaming Others" or the looped up acid bleep-out "Association" - with a consistently tough sound palette and foreboding atmosphere, this is hardline machine music to get well and truly lost to.
