Review: Touchin Bass label's new release 'Dope 'Ead On A Moped' features four tracks of freakish frequency abuse from ADJ, otherwise known as Andy Jaggers, Android, 3 Elements, C.C.U.N.T.S, SIrius 3, IX and the Lamp. This is the dirty electro sound of early Artificial Intelligence, Carl Finlow and Andrew Weatherall all wrapped up in one twisted package.

Digital Dominoes
Review: This is the first release by Clatterbox on Touchin’ Bass. The ‘Control Freak’ EP is a no-holds barred audio assault, solid in construction and ready to deploy. During the mid-nineties, David Kempston (aka Clatterbox) secured himself a considerable following while recording releases for the seminal UK label Clear. In years to come his debut double 10" mini-LP would become a collectors piece - widely regarded as some of his best material. David went on to produce music in a diversity of styles, under various guises including the solid house sounds of Cartel Productions (Ideal/Reel Discs), the malignant breaks of Darkmode (En:vision Recordings) and a collaboration album project with Metamatics (Lee Norris) on label Neoouija. Things have changed a little over Clatterbox’s 15 year gestation. The Clatterbox studio is no longer a modest lo-fi affair and his sound has mutated during a further stretch of insular lab experimentation. What has resulted is a frightening array of hard, angular computer funk the likes of which you will not have heard before.

Review: Ed Devane hails from Ireland and currently lives in Barcelona. The 23 year- old producer has tracks released on Takeover Records (Belfast), and Spacebar Sentiments (Los Angeles) . 'The Squirm' EP, suitably named, is four tracks of chaos with brutal, relentless, damaging beats! Ed enjoys making music that isn’t designed with aggression or violence in mind, but for creating a sense of paranoia, fear and claustrophobia in the listener.

Review: The latest missive on Andrea Parker's admirable Touchin' Bass label comes from Maria Gamboa Perez, a "guitarist, drummer, mathematician and multidisciplinary improviser" who operates under the alias NonZero!. "Matrix Equation" is moody, dark, clandestine and breathless, with Perez and collaborator Carl Finlow (yep, the British electro legend) layering buzzing electronics, looped modular noise, no wave style guitar motifs and intense melodies over a variety of clanking metallic rhythms. It's not quite industrial music, electro or EBM, but rather a fusion of the three - and dark ambient - that rewards repeated listening sessions.

Review: Known for her dark, experimental, electro sets and sublime productions, Parker's own Touchin' Bass label is now a firm fixture on the electronic music radar. "Nobody's Perfect Part Two" picks up from where the highly successful first instalment left off - showcasing cuts from the label, with Parker once again at the helm, mixing her way through diverse, driving, electro to dark atmospheres, twisted tones and plenty of bass.

Maps 1-40
Review: Andrea Parker’s Touchin’ Bass label once more piles on the pressure with this cracking electro-hybrid collaboration from established producers Carl Finlow (aka Random Factor/Silicon Scay) and Daz Quaye (Scsi-av), teaming up once more as the mysterious 'Scaretron'. Carl Finlow has worked under the aliases of Random Factor (2020 Vision) Voice Stealer (Subvert) and more recently Silicon Scay (SCSI, Satamie). He has released music on labels such as Warp, Fuel, Playhouse, Paper, Trope and Sony, and has done a variety of remixes for the likes of Two Lone Swordsmen, Luke Slater, Swayzak, Dave Tipper and Alexi Deano. First up on the A-side is 'Aegorica', a twisted slice of electro driven by a muted growl of a bassline, punctuated by vicious industrial stabs. A2 gives us 'Crash Mat', an electro cacophony of distorted sub bass overlapped with an oscillating synth warble, whilst on the B-side we find 'Coron Data Memory Maps 1-40’ - a 13-minute piece of abstract space-age electronica whose metallic voices, robotic clicks & fierce irregular synths constantly fight for your attention.

Review: With little fanfare, Andrea Parker's long dormant Touchin' Bass label was re-launched earlier this year. Given that the imprint has a strong track record of releasing fine intergalactic electro and murky, intense ghetto-tech slammers, its return is unquestionably a good thing. This label comp brings the story bang up to date, showcasing a thrilling selection of brand new material along similar lines. Highlights are, predictably, plentiful, from the starburst IDM of Quinoline Yellow's "LCC Basement" and the clanking industrial intensity of Parker and Daz Quayle's "Volatile", to the Drexciyan 808-scapes of 214's "Descent" and Clatterbox's cowbell-sporting vision of a future utopia, "Transformer".
