See Mr Through (feat Diane Birch)
Thought Our Love Was Strong (Romanowski vs Bing Ji Ling remix)
See Me Through (Coyote Dub mix)
Review: Uber Recordings' latest release see the legendary Bing Ji Ling make an appearance. See Me Through featuring the sweet vocals of Diane Birch is a sunkissed slice of California soul. A beautiful heartfelt love song oozing quality. Live instrumentation and a tight arrangement creating a real classic song. The second track, the Romanowski remix of Thought Our Love Was Strong is something a little different. Tropical digital reggae vibrations all over Bing's sweet soulful smokey vocals.and bluesy guitar. West Coast Collie weed poolside stylee.
The B side is Coyote's reworking of See Me Through. Throbbing disco sub bass loops and dubbed out vocal samples with extra percussion and funky guitars layering over house beats build up to a vocal break down, before dropping back in with all guns blazing. Big smiles and dancing guaranteed.

Beautiful City
Carina
Beautiful City (ROTLA remix)
Review: Uber is the new label from the Is It Balearic..? Camp. Its aim to release the more of the more Balearic music they have inn their vaults. First up are Bonnie & Klein. The duo behind Bonnie & Klein is Greek pair George Fountzoulas and Thanasis Skouzis who were were born and raised in Nafpaktos, a beautiful hometown in Greece. "Beautiful City" is a low slung percussive groove with a slightly eastern feel with Mediterranean strumming and delicate melodies and an unexpected sax solo. "Carina" is a lighter more cinematic groove with a soft flute pattern and muted guitar all wrapped up in warm strings. Mario Pierro of Raiders Of The Lost Arp (ROTLA) fame remixes "Beautiful City" creating an after sunset chugging balearic slo mo house track oozing class and subtlety. Powerful stuff.

Tones Of Ballad
Tones Of Ballad (Drifts Projects remix)
Pretty Lake
Snowdrifts
Review: Bonnie & Klein can often be found cruising round labels like Music For Dreams and Leng, imparting tender touches of Balearic finery for those who like to cruise on the slinkiest of 80s flavoured jams. They're on cracking form for this return to Uber, kicking off with the sultry "Tones Of Ballad", which gets a subtle beefing up from Drifts Projects on the remix. "Pretty Lake" is the cut for those who want to achieve pure transcendental bliss by way of canned slap bass and sustained chords, and then "Snowdrifts" finishes the EP off with a thoughtful piece shaped out by sweet piano and stirring strings.

Brasil (4:57)
Brasil (Abels Gavea mix) (6:08)
Brasil (Maciek Sienkiewicz live At The Fazenda mix) (7:16)
Review: The mysterious Dream Lovers arrive on Uber with the super mellow Brasil. A tropical reggae disco tinged Balearic shuffler, all loose percussion and soft guitars. Reminiscent of Studio in their heyday. Abel from the Redlight Records crew dims the lights and strips the og back. Layback and feel the sunshine on your eyelids. The second remix comes from Maciek Sienkiewicz of Very Polish Cut-Outs. A quirky almost off beat stripped back version bringing out the guitars and adding extra synths pads. Uber warming us up with some Balearic heat.

Jesus Luvs U Baby (Coyote Lazy Hammock dub)
Review: Second release from Uber records is Jesus Luvs U Baby. Los Porcos drop a tripped out dreamy piece of indie Balearic soft rock. Reverbed guitars and chugging bassline and a blissed out vocal. On the remix Claremont 56 boss Paul' Mudd' Murphy delivers a stripped back atmospheric dub groove whilst the second remix from Is It Balearic..? boys Coyote step on the delay pedal and and hit the percussion. The lazy Hammock dub is exactly that...Uno Dos Tres Quatro.

Jungle Prayer (8:15)
Dub Macumba (8:26)
Changuinola (7:04)
Garrison (6:30)
Review: Is It Balearic? started the Uber sublabel up a few years ago, but 2017 has undoubtedly been the strongest year so far for the imprint. Following excellent stints from Serene, Wawawiwas and Bonnie & Klein, Max Manetti makes a debut appearance with a self-titled EP loaded with just the kind of slick, instrument-led island grooves we've come to expect from the Uber stamp. From the dense tropical trip of "Jungle Prayer" to the laconic guitar licks of "Dub Macumba", the cyclical mysticism of "Changuinola" on to "Garrison" with its considered piano chops and stiff breaks, this is an EP of proficient musicianship and eclectic funk for all manner of situations.

Portmanteau
Portmanteau (Coyote Tropical mix)
Portmanteau (Zoovox remix)
Review: Mountain Ash is an alias of producer Lusty Zanzibar. When the track Portmanteau was sent to Uber they immediately picked up this slice of hynotic experimental loveliness. Layer upon layer of emotive synths and a pulsing arp help you drift towards a beautiful climax. Coyote slow the pace a little keeping the hypnotic pulsing arpeggio and add some lazy beachside drums, percussion, a few pianos and Kalimbas creating a beautiful beach bar shuffler..Brooklyn's finest Zoovox create a subtle analogue rework staying close to original but adding their own delicate vibrations. Drift away into the sunset.

African Obsession

Madrugada (7:26)
The Big Boobs (6:38)
African Obsession (11:55)
Review: Uber bring the new Mushrooms Project EP. A slight diversion for Uber into the cosmic afro infused musical stylings that the Mushrooms boys are masters. Madrugada's tribal energy is reminiscent of Tony Esposito or Tullio de Picopo. The Italian afrobalearic groove that we at Uber love so much. The Big Boobs is a slower more contemplative track, still holding onto the percussive feel but with hints of the east. I suspect the title is influenced by last summers trip to the Great Outdoors in Birmingham. Finally we come to the epic musical journey that is African Obsession. Continuing the fine Italian tradition of tribal dance music this is a tight superbly produced trip into afrocosmiche. 15 minutes of hypnotic beauty. Uber hitting the spot again.

At The Zenith
Mohawk
Suomenlinna
Review: Is It Balearic?'s Uber sublabel has been on cracking form since it started up in 2014, and now the more electronically-minded outpost turns to Russia and the lesser known artist Serene. The name is appropriate, as this hitherto unfamiliar producer turns out some wonderfully delicate compositions that are heavy on synths and light on rhythms. While it may be proudly electronic music, there is a very human warmth at the heart of At The Zenith, with reams of expressive key playing loosening up the mechanical pulse of the music to create a lovely pastoral listening experience in line with the other releases on Uber.

Sailing On A Black Sea
Sad Beach
Through The Desert Land
Seaport Theme
Water Plain
Review: Uber's latest offering is a sublime 5 track ep from French producer Shelter. Sailing On A Black sea is a drifting piece of ambient electronica. Late night stargazing on the deck with the waves gently lapping on the shore. Sad Beach continues with the layered textures with a little more of a percussive feel. through the Desert Land is shimmering mesmerising journey through the dunes with loose congas soft guitars and a hypnotic Jews Harp. Seaport theme continues the coastal vibrations but with a touch of bounce and uplifting choral vocal stabs and louche pads. Finally Water Plain closes the journey with kalimbas and xylophonic melodies and the contining theme of phosphoescent seas and soothing synth sounds. A very accopmlished slice of beach bar balearica destined for sunsets around the med for years to come.

Distant Dreaming
Skitzing/Wipeout
Distant Dreaming (Coyote remix)
Review: Uber picked up this beautiful mellowed out pop song by Shining Bird for a vinyl release after becoming totally captivated by its warm laid back Balearic feel. Shining Bird hail from Austinmer a coastal town just south of Sydney, Australia. They are a collective of friends who got together over their love of the sea, Australian cinema, Dennis Wilson's "Pacific Ocean Blue" Lp and the great Australian poet Henry Lawson. The second track Stitzing/Wipeout is another great alternative pop song in the same vein as Destroyer with the song blending into a 5 min piece of psyched out ambient. On the flip side Coyote remix Distant Dreaming into a horizontal percussion led dubby contemplative trip with pitched down vocals and a throbbing bassline. Uber continuing its crusade of finding and releasing music that captures their Balearic ethos.

Lets's Float (Leo Mas & Fabrice Balearic Deep Militant remix)
Review: Shining Bird frontman Dane Taylor serves up a beautiful piece of mellow beach pop, drenched in antipodean sunshine. This is made for sipping cold drinks under palm tree shade or swinging hammock dreams. The flip sees Balearic Commander in chief Leo Mas and his ever present colonel Fabrice deliver a truly stunning piece of balearic chug. Deep ambient textures capturing the essence of a smiley sunset. Happy happy. Uber hitting the balearic nail on the head once more.

Sadness Of Being
Sadness Of Being (Max Essa remix)
Review: Uber always knows the right kind of moody, heads down Balearic throb to get stone-cold chillers nodding their heads in approval, and so it goes on this latest transmission from Wawawiwas. "Sadness Of Being" is a perfect introduction to this duo, with the dub tropes turned up to full and the bassline grooves as slinky as they come. In between the heavy delay and reverb there's a real sense of stride about this track, which Max Essa capitalises on when dropping the more beat driven remix on the B side. The broad premise of the original remains intact, with just a little more emphasis on the synthy side of things.
