Deep House
Not Waiting Anymore
Munged
Brazil
Review: The amount of new records being pressed up on high quality, heavyweight vinyl is nice to see. This 12" from Area on freshly minted imprint Until My Heart Stops is one such piece of wax. Musically, it's an equally attractive proposition, delivering glitchy, atmospheric deep house with a twist. Opener "Not Waiting Any More" is the brightest - and arguably dancefloor-friendly - of the bunch, building a twinkling groove around a superb cut-up vocal sample and some distant atmospherics. "Until My Heart Stops" if cracklier and murkier, pushing distorted samples to the limit in pursuit of wonky thrills. "Brazil", meanwhile, is starry IDM with a twist.

I Keep Doing This
Communal Disco Lung
Waterlily
Review: The Anglo-Argentine producer seems to be going from strength to strength since a move to Berlin, following the Timmy Thomas sampling brilliance of his recent EP on AIM with another three tracker of deep, cerebral and soulful house. Alongside the heartbreaking melancholy of 'I Keep Doing This' and 'Waterlily' and their yearning melodies, Arnaldo takes us to the nearest sweatbox with the funk flecked deepness of the brilliantly titled 'Communal Disco Lung'. An essential release for any house heads with a sophisticated palate.

Arnaldo - "People In The Sand"
Joey Anderson - "One World"
October - "Decompression Chamber"
Leif - "Until Dawn"
Review: It is labels like UntilMyHeartStops that proudly do deep house justice. The fourth EP to come from the UK imprint, and third this year, is a various artist sampler featuring label inaugurator Joey Anderson, who is joined by the best of British; October, Lief and the impressive Arnaldo. The latter opens the EP with something sparse, dubby and lonely in "People In The Sand", while A Side companion Anderson delivers an effervescent and cosmic "One World". October toughens up the EP with his bullish and phase filtered "Decompression Chamber", while the combined classicalism, ambience and slow drums of Lief's "Until Dawn" is reminiscent to Sven Weisemann's music as Joeum.

Cello Panetta feat Rreplay
Review: As Until My Heart Stops turns 10, we head back across the Atlantic , this time to Boston and a stunning ep from the still hugely under rated DeViere.DeViere is a music producer and radio disc jockey (Progressive Black, 90.3 FM WZBC Newton) based in Boston, Massachusetts. He first came to our attention with the Transcendental Numbers ep on Jamal Moss' Mathematics label in 2012 and we've waited on each release ever since, including last year's huge Future Shock Disco ep (a collaboration with Jamal himself). Here DeViere presents 3 beautiful examples of his deep, soulful craft and a fitting way for UMHS to hit double figures.

Ewloe Drive (8:04)
Cobwebs and Waiters (6:06)
Nervous in Regard to Waking Up (5:29)
Are Things OK At Home (7:55)
Review: Welsh purveyors of deep and mysterious subterranean grooves UntilMyHeartStops return with a lovely second release by Duckett. He keeps on with the consistent quality and aesthetic that these label has become renowned for. The sombre, tripped out repetition of the groove to "Ewlowe Drive" is quite original "Cobwebs And Waiters" meanders about with its rolling bass, broken beat and lush Rhodes piano and mysterious bells jangling away subtlety in the background. On the flip; "Nervous In Regard To Waking Up" gets more on the techno tip with its razor sharp arpeggio and haunting pads and "Are Things OK At Home" almost like a version of "Cobwebs and Waiters" again but more upbeat with its bleeps and shuffling rhythm. Tip!

Valentines Day Is For Animals (6:12)

Track 3 (2:28)
Review: The latest release from Untilmyheartstops sees the label turn to an individual they know all too well in Duckett, a fellow resident at the excellent UK festival Freerotation. As the title suggests, Part 1 (Coffee, Women and Skits) is the first of two releases due on Untilmyheartstops from Duckett and backs up his status as an unsung hero of the Welsh scene. All four tracks nestle snugly in the brand of deep house this label has cultivated, yet Duckett still covers quite a lot of different ground stylistically. From the Borft style guttural throb and shuffle of opening track "Crappop", Duckett veers off into more cerebral, introspective territory on the delightfully fuzzy "Blackbody Radiation" whilst "Valentines Day Is For Animals" is a shimmering highlight.

Beyond Good & Evil (6:13)
FM Joy (7:01)
Eye Ache (6:06)
Review: With previous releases from some of the top heads of the electronic spectrum, including Leif, Steevio, Arnaldo and more, the imprint UntilMyHeartStops returns with its latest release, this time for mysterious producer Ekeko. Rich analog tape waves sit nicely beside thick 909 rhythmic elements throughout this killer three tracker. The title track "Beyond Good & Evil" starts things of with strong spirit, taking pulsations of warping synths and balancing them with hazy club driven patterns. This theme continues through "FM Joy" and "Eye Ache" but with a wider focus on the dubbier elements of the electro and house spectrum.

The Wave Function (7:08)
Solastalgia (6:41)
The Unavoidable Consequence Of You (6:00)
Tradition No 3 (6:24)
Review: Consistently vibrating at a frequency beyond the conventional realms of house and techno, UntilMyHeartStops returns with a particularly captivating transmission from furtive jazz-peddling beatsmith Tom Ellis. This release serves as an opportunity for the Freerotation regular to move into a techno-inflected space without losing his handle on delicate, evocative pathways through the minimal milieu. The subtle throb of "Solastalgia" sounds especially at home on UMHS, hinging around snaking machine rhythms and a buttery bassline that could easily go on for days without growing tiresome. Watch out for "The Unavoidable Consequence Of You" though - a feisty party heater that finds Ellis dipping his toe into the sample / edit snakepit and pulling out a python.

Review: REPRESS ALERT: A fine 2015 for UntilMyHeartStops so far has seen the label usher in superb 12" releases from Zach Lubin, Arnaldo, and Duckett with the latter's pair of records a particular highlight. Label co-founder Leif is next up with Taraxacum, his second album and UMHS's debut long-player and it may be their finest work to date. Building on Dinas Oleu, his well-received 2013 debut album for Fear of Flying, the nine tracks on Taraxacum show Leif channelling all-new levels of immersion in his productions right now. Very much an album you sink into, there are still tracks on Taraxacum that will work on the dancefloor when you require something a bit hypnotic; we'd love to see a small club reacting to the startling "An Elephant Madness" for example. Great work Leif!

Flooring Operations (6:51)
Mediation Garden (5:15)
Ambivalent Robot (5:24)
Chloroform (7:35)
Review: After a pair of superb 12"s from Duckett, Untilmyheartstops turn their attentions to across the Atlantic with the label debut of Zachary Lubin. Fans of the Kimochi label will recognise Lubin from the two wonderful 12"s he's committed to the cause over the past three years, and this four-track Future Laboratories record is a fine addition to his small discography. "Flooring Operations" opens proceedings on a dizzying techno tip, a kaleidoscope of sound billowing up around the taut bass drums, whilst "Mediation Garden" will please those who like some sonic grit in the mix. By contrast, the excellently titled "Ambivalent Robot" veers off into insouciant, glistening techno and is quite life-affirming. "Chloroform" rounds out the 12" on a similarly warm tip.

Review: UntilMyHeartStops makes a welcome return to the fray with this sublime four-tracker from emergent Swedish producer Martinou, previously found sneaking around the sewer sender label. As is customary with UMHS releases, the conventions of house and techno are masked by a veil of mystery, where billowing pads and crooked rhythms dig past common or garden variety club tracks to offer something more sublime. From the slender, shimmering "Unaware" to the weighty thrum of "Excessive, Surely" and on to the delicately poised "I Don't Wanna Wanna Feel", Martinou proves himself to be entirely in tune with the hidden depths of the label.

Sundialist (3:12)
Review: Emerging out of the mist once more to impart their mystical twists on the dance music tradition, the elusive entities behind UntilMyHeartStops keep things consistently ambiguous as they present hitherto unknown producer Okand Konstnar. Wherever this sonic traveler originates from, their sound flings far and wide, not least on the insistent ethnic percussion stomp of opening track "Price Tags". "Soft Stomp" places greater emphasis on cyclical swirls of melody, before "Blue Ink Inverted" plots a course for intricate patterns reminiscent of label boss Leif. "Sundialist" closes the record on a hazy, transcendental tip that seals the deal on this wonderful, pointedly mysterious release.

Cyfnos (DJ Spider remix)
Review: Freerotation festival director Steevio debuts on UntilMyHeartStops with Cynfnos, which translates from Welsh to English as Twilight and that's a great time of night to spin the music held within. Run by Leif and Joe Ellis, UntilMyHeartStops has swiftly built up a reputation for releasing deep and slightly leftfield house music from the likes of Joey Anderson, Area, Arnaldo and October. Given how embedded into the Freero community Leif and Ellis are, it makes for little surprise to see Steevio lining their latest release with the hypnotic modular house that is the title cut and a more introspective, ambient partner in "Taro". Added intrigue is provided on the B Side where Freero regulars DJ Spider and Joey Anderson both remix the title track in their distinct styles.

Space Station 09 (Juniper Salford Central Station remix)
Review: After his debut appearance on Altered Moods, Matthew Wieck makes his second outing on the steadily rising UntilMyHeartStops, continuing the label's mission statement of otherworldly house and techno that refuses to dawdle in the past. "Palau" works around a series of interlocking melodic phrases and tempered drum machine patterns with a pleasingly cyclical nature and a lack of harsh edges. "Space Station 09" is a more piston-pumping affair, although the synths remain committed to acts of wanton wistfulness in their varying hues of blue. Building on the deep techno mantra of the original material, Mancunian duo Juniper bring a snagging electro influence to bear on their remix, plotting an equally sci-fi course while roughing up the rhythms with aplomb.
