Review: Inna De Yard return with Family Affair, their latest album, and already hailed by many-an-expert as one of their best yet. The large reggae collective were formed in 2000 but still go strong, here enlisting new help on vocals from cameo members Johnny Osbourne as well as that of '60s duo Keith & Tex, on the highlight cover of reggae classic 'Down The Street'. The piano chops of Franklyn 'Bubbler' Waul, twinkly rhythm guitar talents of Dwight Pinkley, and central bass movements by Stepper resound as ever.

Review: Acclaimed reggae and dub collective Inna de Yard reissue their 2021 album Family Affair, yet one more to lay down the skills and talents of this quasi-familial ensemble, consisting of both veterans and youngers from the same close-knit bloodline in Jamaica. Their specialism is recording acoustic versions of classic and original songs in a friendly, natural setting; this one's got 13 versions on it, with covers of Bob Marley and The Congos, and features such core family members as Cedric Myton and Kiddus I, albeit channelling a bittersweet intonation after the group lost four of its kin prior to release.

Review: French label Wagram knows a thing or two about putting out superb compilations that take a widescreen look at a diverse array of genres. For this latest double album release it carries on in its Africanism series with a second volume of house sounds with an Afro undertone. French legend Bob Sinclair appears several times with his lavish house sounds, and countryman Martin Solveig brings the heat with 'Heartbeat', a bright, prickly and vocal jam with plenty of irresistible hooks. It's a great collection of party-ready sounds.

Review: We love it when French label Wagram puts out another compilation because they are invariably excellent and can every much make your record collection and therefore digging credentials seem maybe a touch better than they are without doing much work yourself. This one, after loads that have focussed on everything form techno to soul to protest songs, is simply called Groove Diggin. It is another sublime los at some red hot and impassioned soul sounds put together with love by some serious diggers. Cortex, The Heads of the Family and more all feature.

Review: Things were different back in 2001 and the dance music world was less attuned to the responsibilities it has towards the marginalised communities that birthed the genre back in the 80s. For that reason, it's unlikely any new compilation featuring music by mostly white artists would be called Africanism Allstars these days, but alas that was the case with this collection when it was originally released. Title aside, the music stands up with a chunky house sound and plenty of tribal grooves featuring big names like DJ Gregory, Martin Solveig, Bob Sinclair and Soga amongst others.

Review: For its next compilation, Wagram sets its sights on underground house music and assembles what it thinks are the best of the genre. It's a collection that sure will get any dancefloor going, with a focus on the emotional end of the spectrum and plenty of big players. As you would expect from a French label, this is slated towards French artists with worthy inclusions from DJ Deep, I:Cube and DJ Gregory next to big names like the one and only deep house pioneer Kerri Chandler who offers 'The Way It Goes' with Troy Denari and Louie Vega & Jay Sinister's 'Diamond Life' amongst many more.

Review: French label Wagram is a go-to when it comes to quality compilations that take a broad look at certain sounds and scenes, and this one is an on-going series that focuses on house sounds with an Afro undertone. The grooves are lively and often come with plenty of percussion. The drums hit hard but with funk, the vocals are Afro-centric and plenty of irresistible hits come thick and fast from the jazzy tribal swagger of 'Imbalaye' to the big steel drum party sounds of 'Viet Dao' (Klement Bonelli & Yann DL remix). Another great collection of colourful Afro house sounds.

Review: Wagram has been busy putting together all sorts of authoritative collections on various different genres over the years. Next up the French label sets its sights to trip-hop - a distinctly British sound that emerged in the 90s quite specifically from Bristol and artists like Tricky, Massive Attack and Portishead. None of those pivotal names actually feature, weirdly, but there is still a wealth of love downtempo goodness here from the likes of Manchester's Mr Scruff, world music don Bonobo, disco divas Moloko and musical maestros Quantic and Thievery Corporation. It takes for a top listen.

Review: Wagram France specialise in serving up compilations. They have a great knack for puling together great overviews of a wide array of sounds and scenes - some are really niche and in-depth, some are simply big hits for fun times. This time out set their sets on Italo Disco with this new double album which is packed with plenty of loveable and highly danceable disco sounds. Many of them are classics but not from the obvious end of the spectrum - the likes of Kano's 'Another Life' from 1983 is a particular highlight while Miko Mission's 'The World Is You' (vocal mix) is over seven minutes of vocal Italo disco splendor.

Review: The Wagram label's faultless run of great compilations continues here. They have currently got a three-part series for you to enjoy in the form of Gems From Vinyl Diggers. One part looks into Funk, one into Disco and this one into Soul. It features 13 tunes culled from the 70s and 80s that, by and large, come from lesser-known names from that era. Some will have you in tears, some will swell your heart, and some will make you want to get up to get down. Another fine bit of work by Wagram, then.

The latest is Disco Music Gems From Vinyl Diggers with ten tunes here that are all gold-standard jams. These are tunes that mix up funk, soul and disco from the 70s and 80s and have been lovingly sought out for your listening pleasure. They have turned their hand to every genre you can think of and then some more from techno to disco and now to rocksteady. This emotive Jamaican sound hits is peak in the 70s and this collection, subtitled 'Take Place At The Heart Of Rocksteady' showcases plenty of its many great highlights. Justin Hinds & The Dominoes bring the love, The Melodians pine for romance and Desmond Dekker & The Aces offers a brilliantly li-fi and soul drenched sound.

Review: It seems like we write about a great new compilation from French powerhouses Wagram every week. This is the latest and it takes aim at trip hop which is the niche sub-genre to emerge from the shadows of hip-hop, firstly in Bristol. This is an unashamed collection of what the label thinks are the biggest tunes and most classic joints from across the years all on one triple vinyl set. Some unpredictable inclusions are the likes of Radiohead's otherworldly hymn 'Everything In Its Right Place' amongst standouts like Snooze's 'The Chase' (Revisited By Fila Brazilia).

Review: The Wagram label continues to impress us with its well-researched collections that have focussed on a wide range of different niche genres and periods. The latest is Funk Music Gems From Vinyl Diggers with 11 top tunes here that are all gold-standard jams. These are tunes that mix up funk, soul and disco from the 70s and 80s and have been lovingly sought out for your listening pleasure. You may or may not know the tunes in question as they tend towards the lesser-known end of the spectrum and that in part is what makes them so good to hear.

Review: French label Wagram have pulled together a great compilation here featuring 12 essential funk and soul tracks from the Baxploitation era. Out was a time define, musically, by a groove heavy strain of soul throughout the 70s so makes for a n all killer no filler collection. Incredible Bongo Band kick things off with the high speed funk of 'Bongolia,' All The People bring more raw, soul infused styles on their 'Cramp Your Style' (feat Robert Moore) and Lafayette Afro Rock Band work up a real psyched out sound with 'Darkest Light,' which has an iconic lead riff.

Review: Whether you can treat funk itself as a form of personal property is truly up for debate, but 'Give Me The Funk!', the new compilation courtesy of Wagram, certainly gives the above a try. The new comp flaunts 12 classic funk songs that have mainly drawn their charm as a result of having been sampled by prominent hip-hop artists and producers over the years. The likes of B.T. Review: Original psychedelic soul gemmery from Milton Wright, as reissued by Wagram. This by-the-book repress follows up a 2015 reissue from Athens Of The North, which was specially noted for its presenting of an 'alternate version' of the album, made up of completely different earlier recordings of each track. Wagram's version, by contrast, pays homage to the 'final' electro-dicso inflected directors' cut - i.e. the first iteration of the album, released in 1975. Slick, high-endy and masterful, tracks like 'Brothers And Sisters' are everything we want and expect from Wright.
