Review: Josh Baker is one of the UK's new school house artists. In the last few years he has become a bill topping DJ and chart topping producer with a wide range but also a keen eye for destructive dance floor sounds. His time out he lands on the cultured You & Me label with some turbocharged, spaced out house sounds that hark back to the classic vide game soundtrack era of the 90s. The bassline on opener 'Energy' is bulbous and soft edged beneath silky drum work. 'Feel It' is another cosmically minded bit of punchy electronic house funk with none chords and grinding bass, 'Orgonaught' then gets more wild with some flashy lasers and 'Record Is Over' sinks into a more deep, pensive and late night vibe.

Review: Josh Baker has been busy over the past four years or so, dropping minimal tech house heat on the likes of Dighop, Constant Sound and Automatic Writing while nurturing his own You & Me label. It's there he returns to with the surefooted Technical Itch EP, leaning in on some Nu Groove stylings for the crafty, bassweight thump of the title track and the deadly, catchy acid trickster 'Information Overload'. 'Just Act Normal' has fun turning up the 90s heat with a few subtly trance-y elements sneaking into the mix, and 'H' keeps things deep and dirty with some killer DX7 organ lines making sure you know where the influences come from.

Review: Josh Baker has made himself one of the most prominent names in the house scene over recent years. He got some serious production chops and shows that off again here with a new EP for You & Me. 'Work It Out' is a slick and compelling mix of woodpecker-like bass rumbles, smooth-cruising snares and electronic drums with subtle vocals up top. 'Pardy Hardy' is more wonky, with acid flashes and sci-fi motifs over a more grinding groove. 'Counter House' shuts down with another fat house sound that cannot fail to get the floor going off.

Review: Josh Baker and Alfie Jack were locked down in Devon for two days, and what we have here is the music they cooked up in that time. t's straight down to work on opener 'Hazard', which marries jacking Chicago drums with bubbling melodies and bulbous synth sounds. It's one for both head and heel such is the fusion of both cerebral and visceral qualities. There is a more playful sense of funk to the skipping and airy drums of 'Simplistic', which harks back to someone like Glenn Underground, while 'Night' closes with a mid-90s tech house fluidity that Terry Francis would be proud of.

Review: You&Me's latest recruit Paddy Lee steps up for his first debut release. Simply two club-ready numbers, and a remix from LVCA, here. 'Bottom Up' urges club-goers to hit the floor upside-down (we've got plenty experience with headstand-dancing, we'll have you know) through licky acid lines, raspy crash cymbals, and emergency broadcast samples - 'this is not a test'. 'Professor Scratch' is much more driving, with turntablist scratches and space-age radio comms samples gluing together a fiery acid trance body.
