Affects (hand-numbered maroon vinyl 12" in spray-painted sleeve limited to 200 copies (comes in different coloured sleeve, we cannot guarantee which one you will receive))
Cat: KIMOCHI 43. Rel: 21 Sep 20
  1. Anxiety Sensitivity (4:24)
  2. Intolerance Of Uncertainty (4:41)
  3. Emotional Distress Endurance (4:17)
  4. Observation Via (4:14)
  5. Open Attention (4:52)
  6. To Presence (5:25)
Review: The latest drop on the consistently brilliant Kimochi comes from Eho Kates, a new project from Todd Gys and Brendon Moeller. While the names involved may be familiar, the resulting sound is something wholly fresh. Certainly, Moeller's rightly heralded instinct for dubwise processes is no great shock, but there's a playful sense of experimentation powering every element of this release from the scuffed, fractured rhythms of 'Anxiety Sensitivity' to the submerged echo chamber surrealism of 'Emotional Distress Endurance'. Inquisitive processes and otherworldly sound design shape out the whole record, shot through with the alluring mystery that defines Kimochi output overall.

300 Miles EP
Cat: OLOREC 003. Rel: 21 Sep 20
  1. 300 Miles (7:13)
  2. Cokpit (7:50)
  3. Ovni (9:49)
Review: After a lengthy hiatus of well over 12 months, Miroloja has fired up the Olo Records imprint once more, this time to house an EP of studio hook-ups between himself and prolific Ukrainian producer Silat Bekski. They begin with '300 Miles', a gorgeously positive chunk of sun-kissed tech-house perfection that sees them layer spacey chords and an undulating, Tangerine Dream style synthesizer melody over a crunchy and impactful beat. The track that follows, 'Cockpit', is a more bass-heavy chunk of trippy goodness that ticks rather a lot of contemporary tech-house boxes, while epic flipside 'Ovni' sees them cleverly combine beats reminiscent of Romanian minimal techno with all manner of quirky, glitches samples, including what sounds like a jazz drummer warming up.

Esser (12")
Cat: KRV 013. Rel: 21 Sep 20
  1. Esser (7:41)
  2. Intercept (7:22)
  3. Too Far (8:44)
Review: Having previously offered up collaborations with userUNKNWN on Rhanamh and Pianoforest Records, Soyro has finally been given a chance to showcase his solo productions. Esser is a quietly impressive first EP, with the fast-rising producer flitting between picturesque dreaminess underpinned by typically crunchy drums (the gorgeous title track), bubbly deep house/tech-house fusion ('Intercept', whose lengthy breakdown is an energy-building delight), and darker, more sludgy territory (the Eastern European minimalism of 'Too Far', which sounds like it was partly inspired by the joint works of Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer). As debuts go, it's a confident affair full of tightly focused club cuts.

T18 EP
T18 EP (12")
Cat: LAA 008. Rel: 21 Sep 20
  1. T18 (7:01)
  2. Mr Flat (8:15)
  3. Frogs (8:21)
  4. T18 (Robin Ordell remix) (7:06)
Review: Andrey Zenkov has already released rather a lot of good music under a variety of aliases - Basic7 being the most celebrated - so it's little surprise to see him resurface with a brand-new pseudonym, Unknow. Despite the new name, the producer's sharply dancefloor-focused instincts remain in-tact. Those familiar with his hypnotic, bass-heavy brand of tech-house box jams will enjoy gently mind-altering opener 'T18' and the tougher 'Mr Flat', where cloudy minor key chords ride locked-in drums and a bubbly analogue bassline. His love of broken computer style blips and bleeps comes to the fore on B-side opener 'Frogs', while Robin Ordell's EP-closing revision of 'T18' is a rolling, sub-heavy tech-house treat.

Aslohop EP
Aslohop EP (limited brown marbled vinyl 12")
Cat: RWX 012B. Rel: 21 Sep 20
  1. Aslohop (12:28)
  2. Detrand (21:00)
Review: Earlier in the year, Chilean minimal maestro Ricardo Villalobos reached an agreement with Rawax for the long-established label to release a series of singles and, more remarkably, a digital-only, hour-long track called 'Matsu'. This brown, marbled vinyl 12" is the first in the sequence of singles to hit stores and contains two typically lengthy workouts. Lead cut 'Aslohop' leads the way, with Villalobos once again delivering entrancing action built around oddly programmed, distinctively swung South American drum hits, curious noises and a hypnotic, undulating bassline. Flipside 'Detrand' is an even more spaced-out and druggy affair, with various barely audible samples subtly rising and falling for 21 minutes atop another deliciously out-there rhythm track.

Dualism (gatefold 2xLP)
Cat: DRGL 001. Rel: 21 Sep 20
  1. Teribil (8:08)
  2. Paranormal (9:17)
  3. Papusar (7:29)
  4. Melos (7:58)
  5. Apus (8:10)
  6. Polifonie (7:39)
  7. Plaja (7:56)
  8. Zen (8:10)
Review: Over the last three years Dragut Adrian AKA Dragutesku has firmly established himself as one of Romanian minimal techno's leading lights. It's for this reason that Dualism, his first full-length excursion, is so hotly anticipated. So, does it hit the spot? Undoubtedly. Dragut is particularly good at crafting wonky, off-kilter tech-house and minimalistic techno tunes that are sparse and unusual, but also boast tons of percussive funk and swing. These kinds of club-ready tunes form the DJ-friendly backbone of the album, with occasional deeper, darker or even stranger deviations (see the creepy 'Paranormal' and squelchy, electro-fired melodiousness of 'Apus') providing welcome variety. As a result, it's a set you can listen to from start to finish, despite the dancefloor-focused nature of its construction.
