Throughout his career, Ali Renault has always embraced the woozier side of electronic disco, utilizing vintage synthesizers to create authentically dusty productions. Given this history, it's little surprise to see him popping up on Giallo Disco. EP opener "Keeper Of The Seven Keys" is particularly good, with the London-based producer smothering a gently chugging, arpeggio-driven groove with dreamy chords and glistening melody lines. He doffs a cap to the original Giallo soundtrack sound on the dark Italo-disco throb of "Model of Hope", before dropping the tempo dramatically on the icy and atmospheric "Highrise". Finally, Antoni Maovvi delivers his own interpretation of "Model of Hope", layering glistening synthesizer motifs on top of a muscular, tops-off Italo groove.
