After almost a decade of EPs and double singles, gaining worldwide recognition, Bristol native and owner of Timedance Omar McCutcheon has finally delivered their debut full-length project as BATU. Featuring the texturally rich, experimental soundscapes we've come to appreciate over the past 9 years, Opal feels more introspective and emotionally deep with its 11 track runtime. As opposed to one landscape it's better to think of BATU's tracks as their own galaxies, each with its own laws of nature. Lead single 'Atavism' is an ambient techno melting pot of Aphex Twins' 'Tha' and Arca's 'Coin', whilst the latest of 3 'Convergence' is the aggressive older brother of Iglooghost's 'Barely Twins'. Opal is a transcendent journey through the pinnacle of avant-garde production, and you would be remiss not to have this record in your collection.
