541 BelgiumAlthough never wildly popular in the UK, Belgian New Beat did much to popularize underground dance music and acid house culture in the Low Countries during the late 1980s. It was so popular, in fact, that an incredible volume of new beat records were recorded and released in a small period of time, as this sequel to Belgian New Beat: The Compilation proves. Its four CDs contain a number of scene staples, but for the most part the selections are thoroughly obscure to all but a handful of veteran ravers and old school Belgian DJs. This is a particularly good thing for those relative new to the New Beat sound. Buy this and its similarly epic predecessor, and you'll never need to cop another New Beat release.
