Tasteful Pop isn't the best genre name we have come across, and frankly should probably be committed to the pile marked 'Just Shut Up'. Nevertheless, some critics are banding the term about like it's probably going out of fashion in the very near future, and in many ways it's not hard to hear what they're referring to.
Jack Antonoff, for one thing, who has been called in to render services for Taylor Swift, Lana Del Ray, Clairo and Lorde, all of who have recently switched things up musically and opted to explore softer and more personal avenues. Bleachers is the man in question's own outlet, and he hits the nail on the head of what Tasteful Pop should probably sound like. It's quiet and gently spoken in all the right places, occasionally interspersed by more dominant chart fare that still keeps its two feet on quieter ground.
