Boris Werner's idiosyncratic productions have gained him much attention, so much so that his previous release came out on Get Physical - always a confirmation of quality. Here he's back with two more slices of his trademark linear minimal-not-minimal house. "Acid Casino" is the perkier of the two - all chugging loops that slowly escalate over eight minutes courtesy of machine gun snare shots and restrained 303s squelches. At nearly nine minutes, the moody atmospherics of "Upstairs Or Downstairs" makes it one for the head rather than the feet - a perfect riposte, making for one perfectly balanced EP.
