Following the tragic and untimely passing of founding vocalist/bassist Caleb Scofield, many were under the impression that metalcore/alt rock underground heroes Cave In would call it a day.
As no strangers to hiatus, it would have been understandable for the Massachussets collective to break away to process their grief. 'Heavy Pendulum' turns the pain inwards, marking one of the heaviest and cathartic works of their near 30-year tenure.
Enlisting Converge bassist Nate Newton to help fill the massive void of Scofield's absence, and reuniting with Kurt Ballou behind the boards, all contributors have pushed themselves to a staggering degree to deliver on a triumphant, aggressive return to form, with cuts like the hefty 'Blood Spiller' and immense 'Blinded By A Blaze' teeming with blistered abandon.
