Maceo Plex's respected Ellum Audio imprint returns, almost a year on from his acclaimed Solar LP and the launch of his new Lone Romantic label. Much like the aforementioned endeavours, the Under The Radar Sampler 1 EP further explores the American producer's love of old school sounds - namely Detroit and classic electro. He's put together a package of heavy hitting records that went under the radar here, featuring some prolific artists. He manages to rope in Motor City underdog Donnell Knox - a veteran producer of over 20 years and the man behind the underrated Sonic Mind imprint. His contribution is the fierce hi-tech soul antics of "Psalm 83:13" taking you all the way back to the '90s when the sound of Underground Resistance, Plus 8 and Strobe reigned supreme. On the flip is a blast from the past in the form of DJ Who's "Give A Little More" (Mike Parker remix) which proves that Parker was a right mentalist already back in '96: this is one serous acid-electro scorcher. German duo Karius & Baktus released the sought after "Wurzelbehandlung" back in 2000 and its introspective dub techno sound (scraped right off the factory floor) hasn't dated one bit!
