Straight outta Portland, Dark Leader is a brand new label dedicated to crafting full-bodied packages. Clearly driven by the bittersweet side of disco and sweet bitterness of tech, they launch with two on-point cuts from The Netherlands and Nottingham respectively; Drvg Cvltvre fires up with a sludgy, wide-load wall of distortion, fuzz and industrial funk as "Reasons For War" buries the synths with layers-on-layers of analogue elements. Emile Strunz, meanwhile, strips the elements and tempo with a marching melee of acid and cosmic staccato synths. Label launches don't get more serious than this.
