Continuing the Merc theme of ensuring the focus remains on the music, Mark E taps his local market for a debut double drop straight out of the Black Country Underground. Information is all too sparse on Edward (possibly the least house name out there) but who cares when the music is this good! Supposedly culled from a CDs worth of tracks left on the door step of casa de Mark E, both tracks here perfectly fit the Merc sonic ethos of pressurised house. "Maxa" splays skewed disco samples over rippling 4/4 programming and even works in the sound of the local constabulary. Anyone who indulged in the recent and rather excellent Mark E Ghostlycast mix to coincide with his debut album will be familiar with the lolloping, filtered brilliance of "Naxa" - a track which establishes this mysterious entity as a true talent.
