Names You Can Trust stumbled upon El Santo Golpe during a trip to Los Angeles, where the six-piece combo plays a significant role in the city's Afro-Latin alternative scene. This is their debut single and offers a tantaslising glimpse of their unique fusion sound, which combines elements borrowed from various Central American and Caribbean folkloric styles. Check, for example, A-side "La Cosecha", which fixes cumbia-style accordion melodies with the rhythms and percussive instruments of Garifuna music. Flip to the B-side for a slightly deeper and more laidback cut marked out by the band's use of a jarana, an instrument most frequently found providing lead lines in son jorocho music.
