Erase is a killer six track almost-an-album from veteran techno troupe Frak for the Psychic Malmo label with Andreas Tilliander on mastering duties! Those new to the devilish charms of Frak off the back of last year's Kontra White Label and Sex Tags Mania releases will find much to admire here; on the title track the trio of Jan Svensson, Johan Sturesson & Bjorn Isgren invite you to stare into the plunderphonic pit of lo-fi despair, before swerving through a gamut of simplistic, machine made moods. Compare "Talk On Answer" with "Bonga Dance" for example; the former pairs Vibert style sonic humour with tough electro meets proto techno rhythmics of a Das Ding B Side whilst the latter rips through the sort of heavily distorted riff you'd want to pioneer an electro-clash revival. On the flip "Classics Bass (Do The Frak)" is fuzz laden electro at it's finest, whilst "RZA" mangles a deranged phasing synth with drug fuelled glee. The tempo is turned down a notch or two for "'Controlled Tie" the final, delay laden saunter through Frakland and whilst all six tracks might evoke the sonic footprints of other like-minded artists the results are undeniably Frak.
