Gary Crowley's Lost 80s Vol 2 CD

Long-serving radio DJ and journalist Gary Crowley knows the music of the 1980s better than most - he was an influential personality during the period - so we can think of few better to curate an eclectic collection of music from the transformative decade. Of course, he's been here before - this is a sequel to 2018's Lost '80s - but we'd argue that the selection this time round is far wider and deeper, despite the presence of a string of well-known hits (think Heaven 17's 'Play to Win', Fine Young Cannibals' 'Blue' and Human League's 'Hard Times'). It's a joyous and cheery collection all told, with the four loosely themed discs touching on everything from synth-pop, jazz-funk, indie-rock and electro to stomping post-punk, Latin-fired acid jazz, 2-Tone ska and rubbery disco-funk.
